Every solar energy harvester systems have got two sources of energy loss: the MPPT circuit and the dc–dc converter. To increase the efficiency of the PV energy harvester, the energy losses from the MPPT circuit and the dc–dc converter need to be minimized. Here a new MPPT algorithm called successive approximation register is introduced. This MPPT algorithm has got a power down mode and a fast tracking time, to achieve low power consumption and energy savings. With this MPPT algorithm energy losses from the MPPT circuit can be minimized and this technique can be greatly applicable to low power application systems mainly as well as for high power application.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i2.455

Combination of searches for Higgs boson decays into a photon and a massless dark photon using pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A combination of searches for Higgs boson decays into a visible photon and a massless dark photon (H → γγd) is presented using 139 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limit on the Standard Model Higgs boson decay branching ratio is determined to be B(H → γγd) < 1.3% (1.5)%. The search is also sensitive to higher-mass Higgs bosons decaying into the same final state. The observed (expected) 95% confidence level limit on the cross-section times branching ratio ranges from 16 fb (20 fb) for mH = 400 GeV to 1.0 fb (1.5 fb) for mH = 3 TeV. Results are also interpreted in the context of a minimal simplified model

A Feasibility Study and Business Model for Micro Vertical Axis Wind Turbine in Sweden

This project is a part of the master thesis for the course Energy smart innovation in the built environment at Halmstad University. This project is done to check the feasibility of VAWT on replacing traditional horizontal axis windmills, costly offshore windmills, and other renewables. As Micro VAWT are smaller, they can be placed where traditional windmills will not be. To stress the point, these can be placed in places like traffic islands and open garden areas.  Lots of such projects are currently ongoing in different parts of the world. Sweden is lagging in this technology diffusion. We concluded that VAWM couldn't alone be used to replace traditional HAWTs or be enough to reach the full renewable target. They can be used in conjunction with HAWT to boost production and efficiency, and we also found other similar uses for VAWM. A business model is suggested so as for the optimal diffusion of VAWT. Our proposal of a micro VAWT of 1.8 million was able to produce 1.41TWh.We found that it was not possible to achieve with VAWT alone

Sentiment analysis, also called the Opinion Mining is a type of Natural Language Processing (NLP) in which the people’s opinions, sentiments, emotions, attitudes etc., are extracted from the text based on the polarity. i. e, the positivity or negativity in the text. It is an active research area in the field of study of NLP and the data mining. It has grown widely due to its importance to business and society. The Opinion Mining / Sentiment Analysis is used widely in the field of social media and other reviewing systems. In this paper, by using the K-Nearest Neighbour algorithm, the sentiment analysis is used for reviewing a system

Analysis of Direct Torque Control of Industrial Drives using Zone-Shifting SVM

    No full text
Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor has gained popularity in industrial applications mainly due to its simple control structure from its first introduction in 1986. Here the direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor with zone shifting space vector modulation (SVM) has been done. It uses a simple phase current re-construction algorithm for three phase induction motor (IM).The phase current re-construction algorithm is done by using information from the current that is from the phases between the inverter and the induction motor. The proposed algorithm is robust and very simple. It uses the AC current to get the stator current for estimating the motor flux and the electromagnetic torque. By evaluating through the torque value and the current the controlling of induction motor is done. The simulation results are also given which supports the direct torque control strategy of the induction motor (IM).DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v4i3.564

Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common in children and have the risk of renal scarring. To better identify this at risk group, the following study was carried out to analyze the clinical profile of children below 18 months of age with culture-positive UTI and the outcome of radiological investigations. The primary objective was to assess the clinical profile of culture-positive UTI children and diagnostic yield and correlation between radiological tests. The secondary objectives were to assess the prevalent uropathogens and their antibiogram. Materials and Methods: For this retrospective study, clinical details regarding radiological investigations, prevalent uropathogens and antibiograms, common antibiotics used in treatment, and uroprophylaxis were obtained through electronic medical records in children <18 months of age admitted with culture-positive UTI. Results: In 225 children seen over a period of 36 months, a slight male predominance (56%) was observed. Ultrasonography (USG) was done in nearly all children, micturating cystourethrography (MCU) was performed in only 40% of patients, dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), performed after 6 months of the index UTI, in one-fifths of the patients. All three investigations were performed in one out of six children. USG and MCU used in combination detected the highest number of significant abnormalities (39%) compared to USG and DMSA (32%). Escherichia coli was the predominant uropathogen identified. Significant meropenem resistance (52%) was observed in the community-acquired UTI. Conclusion: The evaluation and follow-up of infants and young children with UTI show inadequate radiological evaluation, which could increase the risk of undetected and untreated renal sequelae

Background: Some studies suggested that a high rate of caesarean deliveries results in suboptimal breastfeeding outcomes. The relationship between mode of delivery and breastfeeding outcomes has been considered important given the rising prevalence of caesarean deliveries globally. The present study is to examine the relationship of mode of delivery with breastfeeding outcomes. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted at PSG Institute of Medical Science and Research, Coimbatore in the month of July 2018. Ethical clearance was obtained from the institution prior to the study. Chi square test was done to assess the association between socio-demographic variables, timely initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding with mode of delivery. The effect of caesarean on duration of breastfeeding was obtained by applying Kaplan-Meier method. Result: Prevalence ofcaesarean delivery was 36.2% and of vaginal delivery was 63.8%. A statistically significant association was obtained between caesarean deliveries and timely initiation of breastfeeding. However mode of delivery was not significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding and duration of breastfeeding. Conclusion: The findings of our study indicates that caesarean deliveries have been associated with lower timely initiation n rates compared to vaginal deliveries
