Engineering calculations for communications satellite systems planning
The final phase of a satellite synthesis project is described. Several methods for generating satellite positionings with improved aggregate carrier to interference characteristics were studied. Two general methods for modifying required separation values are presented. Also, two methods for improving aggregate carrier to interference (C/I) performance of given satellite synthesis solutions are presented. A perturbation of the World Administrative Radio Conference (WARC) synthesis is presented
Numerical analysis of the stability of the Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) electroconvection between two plates
The time evolution of the problem of Electrohydrodynamic (EHD)
convection in a liquid between two plates is analysed numerically. The equations are
nondimensionalized using the ion drift velocity and the viscous time scales. Following
the non-dimensionalisation of the respective model, two different techniques have been
used to describe the charge evolution, namely the Finite-Element Flux-Corrected
Transport Method and the Particle-In-Cell technique. The results obtained with the
two schemes, apart from showing good agreement, have revealed the appearance of a
two-roll structure not described in previous works. This is investigated in detail for
both strong and weak injection.Ministerio de ciencia y tecnología FQM-42
Inclusion of [H3PW12O40] and [H4SiW12O40] into a silica gel matrix via "sol-gel" methodology
Indexación: Web of Science; Scopus. Here we report the inclusion of two Keggin Polyoxometalates (POMs), [H3PW12O40] and [H4SiW12O40], into silica gels by integrating them during the preparation of the SiO2 matrix via "sol-gel" methods. Aerogels were produced by supercritical drying of the wet gels impregnated with the POMs, and lyogels were obtained by means of a lyophilization process. These materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and thermoanalytical techniques (TGA-DSC). We found that a large fraction of POMs are lost during the aging time, and solvent exchange for lyophilization. However the thermal stability of the bare matrix is modified by the inclusion of POMs. Some aggregates with a high content of POMs were found via SEM-EDX.http://ref.scielo.org/3fg9t
Weyl law for fat fractals
It has been conjectured that for a class of piecewise linear maps the closure
of the set of images of the discontinuity has the structure of a fat fractal,
that is, a fractal with positive measure. An example of such maps is the
sawtooth map in the elliptic regime. In this work we analyze this problem
quantum mechanically in the semiclassical regime. We find that the fraction of
states localized on the unstable set satisfies a modified fractal Weyl law,
where the exponent is given by the exterior dimension of the fat fractal.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, IOP forma
Minimal matrices and the corresponding minimal curves on flag manifolds in low dimension
In general C*-algebras, elements with minimal norm in some equivalence class are introduced and characterized. We study the set of minimal hermitian matrices, in the case where the C*-algebra consists of 3 × 3 complex matrices, and the quotient is taken by the subalgebra of diagonal matrices. We thoroughly study the set of minimal matrices particularly because of its relation to the geometric problem of finding minimal curves in flag manifolds. For the flag manifold of 'four mutually orthogonal complex lines' in C4, it is shown that there are infinitely many minimal curves joining arbitrarily close points. In the case of the flag manifold of 'three mutually orthogonal complex lines' in C3, we show that the phenomenon of multiple minimal curves joining arbitrarily close points does not occur.Fil: Andruchow, Esteban. Minimal hermitian matrices with fixed entries outside the diagonal
We survey some results concerning the problem of finding the complex hermitian matrix or matrices of least supremum norm with variable diagonal. Some qualitative general results are given and more specific descriptions are shown for the 3 x 3 case. We also comment some results and examples concerning this approximation problem.Fil: Andruchow, Esteban. Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento. Instituto de Ciencias; Argentina.
