    AIRCADE: an Anechoic and IR Convolution-based Auralization Data-compilation Ensemble

    In this paper, we introduce a data-compilation ensemble, primarily intended to serve as a resource for researchers in the field of dereverberation, particularly for data-driven approaches. It comprises speech and song samples, together with acoustic guitar sounds, with original annotations pertinent to emotion recognition and Music Information Retrieval (MIR). Moreover, it includes a selection of impulse response (IR) samples with varying Reverberation Time (RT) values, providing a wide range of conditions for evaluation. This data-compilation can be used together with provided Python scripts, for generating auralized data ensembles in different sizes: tiny, small, medium and large. Additionally, the provided metadata annotations also allow for further analysis and investigation of the performance of dereverberation algorithms under different conditions.     An experiment on an automated literature survey of data-driven speech enhancement methods

    The increasing number of scientific publications in acoustics, in general, presents difficulties in conducting traditional literature surveys. This work explores the use of a generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) model to automate a literature survey of 116 articles on data-driven speech enhancement methods. The main objective is to evaluate the capabilities and limitations of the model in providing accurate responses to specific queries about the papers selected from a reference human-based survey. While we see great potential to automate literature surveys in acoustics, improvements are needed to address technical questions more clearly and accurately

    Perfil dos pacientes hemiplégicos atendidos no Lar Escola São Francisco - Centro de Reabilitação

    Review of hemiplegic patient treatment at a rehabilitation centre By review of 147 hemilegic pacient data a retrospective study was realized at Lar Escola São Francisco (São Paulo – Brasil) , with the objective of knowing our patient characteristics and assess the treatment they received during the period from 1995 (Jan) to 1998 (Dec). 38,8% were female from which 39 have had isquemic attack and 18 hemorrhagic type. Between male (61,2%) 67 were isquemic type while 23 have had hemorrhagic stroke. 53% of the total with isquemic stroke received individual therapy whereas 38% of those with hemorrhagic attack received this type of therapy. The mean of durability of individual therapy was 10,8 months and for group therapy it was 11,2 months. We concluded that our patient are similar to those described in the literature (sex, type of attack, side of lesion) but the duration of therapy still longer if compared to that.Realizamos um estudo retrospectivo por meio do levantamento de 147 prontuários de pacientes hemiplégicos atendidos na Disciplina de Fisiatria do Departamento de Ortopedia e Traumatologia da Universidade Federal de São Paulo/Escola Paulista de Medicina – Lar Escola São Francisco – Centro de Reabilitação. O período escolhido, janeiro de 1995 a dezembro de 1998, foi posterior à implantação dos grupos de hemiplegia, com o objetivo de conhecermos o perfil dos hemiplégicos atendidos na instituição, compararmos o tempo de permanência entre o atendimento individual e o em grupo, para auxiliar na otimização do tratamento. Os autores observaram predomínio da hemiplegia no sexo masculino e no hemicorpo direito. A maioria era constituída de pacientes atendidos pelo Sistema Único de Saúde, tendo freqüentado terapias 2 vezes por semana com duração de 1 hora, em grupo de 4 a 6 pacientes. A principal etiologia encontrada foi a lesão isquêmica. O tempo de permanência na instituição variou de 2 meses a 2 anos, com a média de permanência muito acima dos critérios de prognóstico descritos na literatura mundial, o que deveremos rever para os tratamentos futuros

    Analysis of highway trafficability under the pathological manifestations in the concrete plates: A case study

    O descomedido incremento da frota nacional de veículos fomenta debates quanto à infraestrutura rodoviária, principalmente na construção, ampliação ou recuperação das estradas existentes. Nesse contexto, observa-se que a Rodovia Mário Quintana (ERS-118) apresenta alarmante estado de conservação e trafegabilidade, proveniente, principalmente, do grau de deterioração elevado das placas de concreto constituintes do pavimento. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a integridade funcional dessa rodovia segundo avaliação e análise das manifestações patológicas das placas de concreto. Fundamentado no método desenvolvido pelo U.S. Corps of Engineers (USACE), através do índice de condição do pavimento (ICP), o trabalho foi estruturado em três partes: (a) método de avaliação das placas, (b) análise dos resultados e (c) conclusão. Os resultados obtidos indicam que a rodovia não apresenta mais funcionalidade e que sua vida útil, por conseguinte, findou-se.Palavras-chave: patologia, pavimentos de concreto, rodovia ERS-118, Método ICP, trafegabilidade.The increase of the Brazilian vehicle fleet highlights the discussion about road infrastructure, especially the construction, expansion or rehabilitation of the existing roads. In this context, it is noted that the Mario Quintana highway (ERS- 118) shows poor conditions of conservation and trafficability, coming mainly from the high degree of deterioration of the constituents of the concrete pavement slabs. The objective of this study was to determine the integrity of this highway, following an evaluation and analysis of pathological manifestations of concrete pavement. Based on the method developed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers (USACE) through the pavement condition index (PCI), the work was divided into three parts: (a) method of evaluation, (b) result analysis and (c) conclusion.     Extracting short-distance physics from K_{L,S} -> pi0 e+ e- decays

    We present a new analysis of the rare decay K_L -> pi0 e+ e- taking into account important experimental progress that has recently been achieved in measuring K_L -> pi0 gamma gamma and K_S -> pi0 e+ e-. This includes a brief review of the direct CP-violating component, a calculation of the indirect CP-violating contribution, which is now possible after the measurement of K_S -> pi0 e+ e-, and a re-analysis of the CP conserving part. The latter is shown to be negligible, based on experimental input from K_L -> pi0 gamma gamma, a more general treatment of the form factor entering the dispersive contribution, and on a comparison with the CP violating rate, which can now be estimated reliably. We predict B(K_L -> pi0 e+ e-) = (3.2 +1.2 -0.8) 10^{-11} in the Standard Model, dominated by CP violation with a sizable contribution (~40%) from the direct effect, largely through interference with the indirect one. Methods to deal with the severe backgrounds for K_L -> pi0 e+ e- using Dalitz-plot analysis and time-dependent K_L-K_S interference are also briefly discussed.Comment: 24 pages, 6 figures; v2: minor modifications, published versio

    AcMus: an open, integrated platform for room acoustics research

    This article describes the design, implementation, and experiences with AcMus, an open and integrated software platform for room acoustics research, which comprises tools for measurement, analysis, and simulation of rooms for music listening and production. Through use of affordable hardware, such as laptops, consumer audio interfaces and microphones, the software allows evaluation of relevant acoustical parameters with stable and consistent results, thus providing valuable information in the diagnosis of acoustical problems, as well as the possibility of simulating modifications in the room through analytical models. The system is open-source and based on a flexible and extensible Java plug-in framework, allowing for cross-platform portability, accessibility and experimentation, thus fostering collaboration of users, developers and researchers in the field of room acoustics.CNPqFAPES
