    A predictive computational model of the kinetic mechanism of stimulus-induced transducer methylation and feedback regulation through CheY in archaeal phototaxis and chemotaxis

    BACKGROUND: Photo- and chemotaxis of the archaeon Halobacterium salinarum is based on the control of flagellar motor switching through stimulus-specific methyl-accepting transducer proteins that relay the sensory input signal to a two-component system. Certain members of the transducer family function as receptor proteins by directly sensing specific chemical or physical stimuli. Others interact with specific receptor proteins like the phototaxis photoreceptors sensory rhodopsin I and II, or require specific binding proteins as for example some chemotaxis transducers. Receptor activation by light or a change in receptor occupancy by chemical stimuli results in reversible methylation of glutamate residues of the transducer proteins. Both, methylation and demethylation reactions are involved in sensory adaptation and are modulated by the response regulator CheY. RESULTS: By mathematical modeling we infer the kinetic mechanisms of stimulus-induced transducer methylation and adaptation. The model (deterministic and in the form of ordinary differential equations) correctly predicts experimentally observed transducer demethylation (as detected by released methanol) in response to attractant and repellent stimuli of wildtype cells, a cheY deletion mutant, and a mutant in which the stimulated transducer species is methylation-deficient. CONCLUSIONS: We provide a kinetic model for signal processing in photo- and chemotaxis in the archaeon H. salinarum suggesting an essential role of receptor cooperativity, antagonistic reversible methylation, and a CheY-dependent feedback on transducer demethylation

    Pengaruh Pendekatan Savi (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual) Dengan Menggunakan Media Education Card Terhadap Pemahaman Siswa

    Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh pendekatan SAVI dengan menggunakan media education card terhadap pemahaman siswa. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen. Yang menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX-1 dan siswa kelas IX-8 SMP Negeri 8 Banda Aceh tahun ajaran 2016-2017. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dengan cara tes. Tes yang dilakukan berupa soal pre-test dan pos-test untuk mengukur pemahaman siswa sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan pada kedua kelas tersebut. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa, pemahaman siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada pemahaman siswa pada kelas kontrol dengan hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung lebih besar daripada tabel yaitu 2,840 > 1,684. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan SAVI dengan bantuan media education card, siswa menjadi lebih berminat dan aktif dalam pembelajaran karena adanya perpaduan indra dan intelektual dalam proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan SAVI dengan menggunakan bantuan media education card terhadap pemahaman siswa pada kelas IX SMP Negeri 8 Banda Aceh.Kata Kunci: Pendekatan SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual), Media Education Card, Media Belajar, Pemahaman Siswa. AbstrackThis study aims to find out whether there is the influence of SAVI in using media education card in students understanding or not. This study approached quantitatively through an experimental method. Subject in this study was the student of class IX-1 and IX-8 Banda Aceh. The data were collected by administering a test. The test was in the form of pre-test and post-test to measure students understanding before and after conducting some treatment. The result of analysis showed that understanding in experimental class were better that students understanding in control class. The result hypothesis indicated that T-test was higher that T-table, namely 2,840>1,684. By implementing SAVI through education card, the students became more interested and active because it was blended between intellectual sense and learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant influnce of SAVI through media card toward students understanding in class IX SMPN 8 Banda Aceh

    The Mediating Role of Islamic Job Satisfaction on Relationship of Islamic Work Ethics on Intention to Leave

    Purpose: This study aims to explore the effect of Islamic work ethics on intention to leave. This study also examines the indirect effect of Islamic work ethics on intention to leave   using Islamic job satisfaction as a mediator.   Design/methodology/approach: This study used a saturated sampling technique with a sample size of the 77 employee at all Islamic banks in Ternate City, North Maluku Province. SEM-PLS is used to test the hypothesis.   Findings: The study results found that Islamic work ethics had a negative and significant effect on intention to leave; Islamic work ethics also had a positive and significant effect on Islamic job satisfaction. Islamic job satisfaction has a negative and significant effect on intention to leave. Islamic job satisfaction partially mediates the influence of Islamic work ethics on intention to leave.   Research limitations/implications: Sources of reference regarding Islamic job satisfaction are still conceptual and very limited are the results of research on Islamic job satisfaction in field of management and organization.   Practical implications: This research generates theoretical findings in strategic human resource management science which states that values ​​of Islamic work ethics and Islamic job satisfaction will generate benefits for all organizational stakeholders.   Social Implications: Values ​​in Islamic job satisfaction and Islamic work ethics will be able to guide a Muslim individual in working from values ​​related to his relationships with fellow humans and values ​​in behavior that in essence humans are created to serve Allah and as the caliph of Allah. as well as to prosper the earth.   Originality/value: This research employ Islamic job satisfaction as a mediating variable.     Kegiatan eksploitasi didaerah Izin Usaha Pertambangannya, dengan luas wilayah Izin Usaha Pertambangan Eksploitasi 971 Ha. Selanjutnya Perusahaan akan melakukan pembukaan pit baru diarea yang masih terdapat penyebaran batubara pada wilayah izin USAha pertambangan yaitu di Blok Selatan PT. Dizamatra Powerindo, untuk itu diperlukan kegiatan permodelan, perhitungan cadangan dan rancangan penambangan sehingga akan dihasilkan rancangan penambangan yang terjadwal dan kedepannya akan digunakan pada perencanaan tambang berikutnya. Pemodelan geologi lapisan batubara, menghasilkan 2 seam batubara, yaitu seam A dengan arah umum penyebaran batubara yaitu relatif timur-barat dan memiliki kemiringan kearah selatan dengan besar sudut 130 – 200, dengan ketebalan dari 11,5 meter sampai 14,3 meter dan seam B dengan arah umum penyebaran batubara yaitu relatif timur-barat dan memiliki kemiringan kearah selatan dengan besar sudut 110 – 200, dengan ketebalan dari 14,80 meter sampai 18,75 meter. Berdasarkan model rancangan batubara, diketahui cadangan batubara tertambang di daerah penelitian pada blok selatan adalah sebesar 44.571.573,76 ton dan jumlah overburden sebesar 159.037.84986 bcm sehingga menghasilkan Stripping Ratio 3,6 bcm/ton . Target produksi batubara yang direncanakan tahun pertama sampai tahun kelima adalah sebesar 350.000 ton/tahun, dengan Geometri Bench pada desain pit dirancang dengan kemiringan lereng tunggal maksimal adalah 60°, tinggi bench 10 m dan lebar bench penambangan adalah 5 m, dengan geometri tersebut secara teori dianggap bahwa pit telah aman dari longsor. Dimensi jalan angkut dibuat dengan lebar pada jalan lurus 10 m, pada tikungan 13 m sedangkan derajat kemiringan jalan (grade) adalah 8 %. Arah penambangan dimulai dari blok bagian Timur menuju ke blok bagian Barat kemudian kearah Selatan PT Dizamatra Powerindo, pada tahun pertama dilakukan penggalian dari elevasi 90 mdpl dan sampai elevasi 36 mdpl pada tahun kelima

    Hospital Readmissions in Patients with Cirrhosis: A Systematic Review

    BACKGROUND: Hospital readmission is a significant problem for patients with complex chronic illnesses such as liver cirrhosis. PURPOSE: We aimed to describe the range of readmission risk in patients with cirrhosis and the impact of the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score. DATA SOURCES: We conducted a systematic review of studies identified in Ovid MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, the Cochrane Library, Scopus, Google Scholar, and ClinicalTrials.gov from 2000 to May 2017. STUDY SELECTION: We examined studies that reported early readmissions (up to 90 days) in patients with cirrhosis. Studies were excluded if they did not examine the association between readmission and at least 1 variable or intervention. DATA EXTRACTION: Two reviewers independently extracted data on study design, setting, population, interventions, comparisons, and detailed information on readmissions. DATA SYNTHESIS: Of the 1363 records reviewed, 26 studies met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these studies, 21 were retrospective, and there was significant variation in the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The pooled estimate of 30-day readmissions was 26%(95% confidence interval [CI], 22%-30%). Few studies examined readmission preventability or the relationship between readmissions and social determinants of health. Reasons for readmission were highly variable. An increased MELD score was associated with readmissions in most studies. Readmission was associated with increased mortality. CONCLUSIONS: Hospital readmissions frequently occur in patients with cirrhosis and are associated with liver disease severity. The impact of functional and social factors on readmissions is unclear

    Regular and Chaotic Motion in General Relativity: The Case of a Massive Magnetic Dipole

    Circular motion of particles, dust grains and fluids in the vicinity of compact objects has been investigated as a model for accretion of gaseous and dusty environment. Here we further discuss, within the framework of general relativity, figures of equilibrium of matter under the influence of combined gravitational and large-scale magnetic fields, assuming that the accreted material acquires a small electric charge due to interplay of plasma processes and photoionization. In particular, we employ an exact solution describing the massive magnetic dipole and we identify the regions of stable motion. We also investigate situations when the particle dynamics exhibits the onset of chaos.
