Radio numbers for generalized prism graphs

A radio labeling is an assignment c:V(G)Nc:V(G) \rightarrow \textbf{N} such that every distinct pair of vertices u,vu,v satisfies the inequality d(u,v)+|c(u)-c(v)|\geq \diam(G)+1. The span of a radio labeling is the maximum value. The radio number of GG, rn(G)rn(G), is the minimum span over all radio labelings of GG. Generalized prism graphs, denoted Zn,sZ_{n,s}, s1s \geq 1, nsn\geq s, have vertex set {(i,j)i=1,2andj=1,...,n}\{(i,j)\,|\, i=1,2 \text{and} j=1,...,n\} and edge set {((i,j),(i,j±1))}{((1,i),(2,i+σ))σ=s12,0,,s2}\{((i,j),(i,j \pm 1))\} \cup \{((1,i),(2,i+\sigma))\,|\,\sigma=-\left\lfloor\frac{s-1}{2}\right\rfloor\,\ldots,0,\ldots,\left\lfloor\frac{s}{2}\right\rfloor\}. In this paper we determine the radio number of Zn,sZ_{n,s} for s=1,2s=1,2 and 33. In the process we develop techniques that are likely to be of use in determining radio numbers of other families of graphs.Comment: To appear in Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory. 16 pages, 1 figur

    Improving Parental Education

    Get PDF
Monterey County has one of the highest records of child maltreatment that leads to life-long consequences. COVID-19 has significantly impacted the way parent education classes are being delivered. Without the proper parental education, child maltreatment increases. Parental stress has also greatly contributed. All the stress brought among parents also posed as a factor for increased violence and child abuse. Low levels of parental education results in poor parenting. Poor parenting greatly affects a child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development. Community Human Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing a variety of issues. Among their different departments, under their mental health department, they offer parent education classes in order address child maltreatment in Monterey County. One of their programs is called Nurturing Parenting Program which is an evidence-based program designed for parents with children ages zero to twelve years old. One of their newest programs, Parent Connect Group, is based on attachment theory and designed for parents with teenagers ages thirteen to seventeen years old. Both programs teach positive parenting behaviors and the skills to manage factors that lead to child maltreatment

    Minkowski compactness measure

This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from the publisher via the DOI in this record.Published in: Computational Intelligence (UKCI), 2013, 13th UK Workshop, Guildford UK. Date of Conference: 9-11 Sept. 2013Many compactness measures are available in the literature. In this paper we present a generalised compactness measure Cq(S) which unifies previously existing definitions of compactness. The new measure is based on Minkowski distances and incorporates a parameter q which modifies the behaviour of the compactness measure. Different shapes are considered to be most compact depending on the value of q: for q = 2, the most compact shape in 2D (3D) is a circle (a sphere); for q → ∞, the most compact shape is a square (a cube); and for q = 1, the most compact shape is a square (a octahedron). For a given shape S, measure Cq(S) can be understood as a function of q and as such it is possible to calculate a spectum of Cq(S) for a range of q. This produces a particular compactness signature for the shape S, which provides additional shape information. The experiments section of this paper provides illustrative examples where measure Cq(S) is applied to various shapes and describes how measure and its spectrum can be used for image processing applications

Efficient design of experiment for exponential regression models

    Get PDF
In this paper robust and efficient designs are derived for several exponential decay models. These models are widely used in chemistry, pharmacokinetics or microbiology. We propose a maximin approach, which determines the optimal design such that a minimum of the D-efficiencies (taken over a certain range for the nonlinear parameters) becomes maximal. Analytic solutions are derived if optimization is performed in the class of minimal supported designs. In general the optimal designs with respect to the maximin criterion have to be determined numerically and some properties of these designs are also studied. --exponential regression model,D-optimal design, robust design, maximin design, pharmacokinetics, microbiology

Current Debates in Corporate Social Responsibility: An Agenda for Research

    Get PDF
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has a particular prominence at this point in time, featuringheavily in the discourses of both academe and business. The understanding of what ismeant by CSR continues to evolve as a consensus is reached. Nevertheless some importantdebates continue – or are commencing – which need to be resolved. It is the purpose of thispaper to highlight these as some of the current debates within the CSR community – and henceform a significant part of an agenda for research in the area. Specifically we focus upon threekey areas for the management of business, namely setting standards for reporting, identifyingand implementing sustainable practice, and the management of risk. Copyright © www.iiste.or
