The Mexican constitutional identity: Unbridgeable limit for the exercise of power

    Get PDF
In this paper, it is questioned whether the constitutional identity, beyond what is explicitly expressed by the language in the Constitution, translates into the ideological values sheltered by the Mexican people through a federal pact and the understanding of the fundamentals in the constitutional field. Through this study we conclude that the defense of the constitutional identity is the ad intra and ad extra absolute limit. Ad intra, for the constituted powers and citizens; ad extra, for international organizations, the economic power and the market. In this sense, as long as the constitutional identity is not defended, a relative constitutionalism will be fueled.

    Schur complements in Krein spaces

    Get PDF
The aim of this work is to generalize the notions of Schur complements and shorted operators to Krein spaces. Given a (bounded) J-selfadjoint operator A (with the unique factorization property) acting on a Krein space H and a suitable closed subspace S of H, the Schur complement A/[s]of A to S is defined. The basic properties of A/ are developed and different characterizations are given, most of them resembling those of the shorted of (bounded) positive operators on a Hilbert space.Fil: Maestripieri, Alejandra Laura. CHARACTERIZING FERROPTOSIS PATHWAYS IN IN VITRO MOTOR NEURON MODELS

    Get PDF
Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic regulated form of cell death driven by the toxic accumulation of lipid peroxides and the presence of iron. The mechanism by which ferroptosis operates requires further investigation; here I will discuss the findings regarding the role of ferroptosis in different cellular models as well as the genes that may be involved with either promoting or hindering the ferroptotic pathway. NSC-34 is a hybrid cell line of neuroblastoma and primary spinal cord cells that can be differentiated into a motor neuron-like state allowing the characterization of ferroptosis in two distinct cellular conditions. Additionally, iNIL cells are a mouse embryonic stem cell line that can be efficiently differentiated into motor neurons and provides a viable cellular model to study ferroptosis in neuronal context. Contrarily, HT-1080 is the mother cell line in which ferroptosis was discovered, providing the best model to look at which genes are essential to drive ferroptosis. PPIP5K2 is a gene involved in phosphate homeostasis that, upon knockdown via siRNA transfection, showed rescue of cell death after ferroptosis induction. ACSL4 is another gene of interest since it is involved in lipid metabolism and lethal accumulation of lipid ROS is a hallmark of ferroptosis. Thus, generating stable cell lines with knockouts of such genes via lentiviral CRISPR transduction in both HT-1080 and mouse embryonic stem cells are essential to establish further connections

A Novel Approach for Learning How to Automatically Match Job Offers and Candidate Profiles

Automatic matching of job offers and job candidates is a major problem for a number of organizations and job applicants that if it were successfully addressed could have a positive impact in many countries around the world. In this context, it is widely accepted that semi-automatic matching algorithms between job and candidate profiles would provide a vital technology for making the recruitment processes faster, more accurate and transparent. In this work, we present our research towards achieving a realistic matching approach for satisfactorily addressing this challenge. This novel approach relies on a matching learning solution aiming to learn from past solved cases in order to accurately predict the results in new situations. An empirical study shows us that our approach is able to beat solutions with no learning capabilities by a wide margin.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figure

    Czech Republic: Diabetes

    Get PDF
The prevalence of diabetes mellitus, a life-threatening disease, continues to grow annually in the Czech Republic and the accessibility of care is at stake. Most of the information and statistics compiled in this brief are derived from insurance companies in the Czech Republic, rather than governmental records, which reflects the need for mass data collection of diabetes accessibility and treatment. In order to understand the public health issue, the public must also be informed and encouraged to visit their doctor for checkups to prevent diabetes and its various complications. The healthcare system could better care for Czechs not only to lower costs for such expensive treatment, but also to improve the quality of life

    Get PDF

Modeling the residual useful life of railroad bearing grease

    Get PDF
Railroad bearing performance is often constrained by the life of its lubricant. The lubricant life is determined by tribomechanical processes that are present during bearing operation. No known physical models exist to predict the railroad bearing lubricant life. This thesis summarizes the efforts undertaken in the development of empirical models that can accurately predict the residual useful life of railroad bearing grease. Modeling techniques to be employed include regression, regression trees, and split plots. The grease samples used to populate this model come from healthy and faulty bearings that were run under different loads, speeds, and ambient conditions in a laboratory setting. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) values were used as indicators of the residual life of the grease after it has been in operation. This study was successful in developing empirical models which can be utilized to predict the residual life of railroad bearing grease for given operational parameters

APYME en tiempos de flexiblización laboral

    Get PDF
We will focus on the main provisions of public laws 24.467 of 1995, 25.013 of 1998, and 25.250 of 2000 and how APYME has assessed them taking into account that some of the legitimizing arguments government put forward to introduce changes into labor laws was the need to modernize labor relations and promote SMEs’ competitivenessFil: Martinez Fernandez, Maria Alejandra. Administrators’ Roles in Offering Dynamic Early Learning Experiences to Children of Latinx Immigrants

    Get PDF
Principals and school administrators play a critical role in creating learning environments that are sensitive to the needs of students from immigrant families. School administrators, particularly principals, are tasked with making decisions that directly and indirectly impact what happens in a classroom. They act as instructional and visionary leaders as well as resource managers and so they determine both the culture and pedagogy of the school. They determine whether the main focus of the early learning classrooms will be academic skill development (literacy, numeracy), cognitive skill development (social competence, behavioral self-regulation, problem-solving, and decision-making), socio-emotional processing (helping others, empathy, sharing), cultural development (positive identity construction, community connection, and values), physical development (gross and fine motor skills), or a combination of these domains. This article outlines our approach both as administrators and as Latina/o immigrants ourselves who work within Latinx immigrant communities in San Antonio. Our identities as well as our experiences as superintendent (Martinez) and principal (Barraza) inform the ways in which we conceive of high-quality early learning for young children of Latinx immigrants. We would like to help principals recognize and think carefully about their influence on the culture and pedagogy of their early childhood programs (preK-2). To do this, we describe how one early childhood school serves Latinx immigrants as well as Hispanic and African-American families and consistently performs well above the state average for early learning benchmarks while offering children dynamic, agentic learning experiences
