Throughout this work, we will explore different methodologies applied for the study of the relation ship between the archaeological heritage located in public space, and the social fabric of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. The presence of archaeological elements confers a dialogue between the ruins and the quarter’s inhabitants that different agents can use at different times. This study explores avenues to know and establish new dialogues, that value not only the cultural good in itself, but also all of its spatial context. We expose a series of ethnographic techniques and analyse the use of them in different situations. This work is framed in a political moment wherein privileged participative practices in an incipient institutionalisation of participation is understood as a tool of social empowerment.

The D-pi-property on products of pi-decomposable groups
[EN] The aim of this paper is to prove the following result: Let pi be a set of odd primes. If the group G = AB is the product of two p-decomposable subgroups A = A(pi) x A(pi') and B = B-pi x B-pi', then G has a unique conjugacy class of Hall pi-subgroups, and any p-subgroup is contained in a Hall pi-subgroup (i.e. G satisfies property D-pi)Research supported by Proyectos PROMETEO/2017/057 from the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Community, Spain), and PGC2018-096872-B-I00 from the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion y Universidades, Spain, and FEDER, European Union; and second author also by Project VIP-008 of Yaroslavl P. Zeros of irreducible characters in factorised groups
[EN] An element g of a finite group G is said to be vanishing inG if there exists an irreducible character of G such that (g)=0; in this case, g is also called a zero of G. The aim of this paper is to obtain structural properties of a factorised group G=AB when we impose some conditions on prime power order elements gAB which are (non-)vanishing in G.The first author is supported by Proyecto PrometeoII/2015/011, Generalitat Valenciana (Spain). Products of groups and class sizes of pi-elements
[EN] We provide structural criteria for some finite factorised groups G = AB when the conjugacy class sizes in G of certain pi-elements in A boolean OR B are either pi-numbers or pi'-numbers, for a set of primes pi. In particular, we extend for products of groups some earlier resultsM. J. Felipe is supported by Proyecto Prometeo II/2015/011, Generalitat Valenciana (Spain).
Mechanism and Consequences of The Impaired Hif-1α Response to Hypoxia in Human Proximal Tubular HK-2 Cells Exposed to High Glucose
Renal hypoxia and loss of proximal tubular cells (PTC) are relevant in diabetic nephropathy. Hypoxia
inhibits hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) degradation, which leads to cellular adaptive responses
through HIF-1-dependent activation of gene hypoxia-responsive elements (HRE). However, the
diabetic microenvironment represses the HIF-1/HRE response in PTC. Here we studied the mechanism
and consequences of impaired HIF-1α regulation in human proximal tubular HK-2 cells incubated in
hyperglycemia. Inhibition at diferent levels of the canonical pathway of HIF-1α degradation did not
activate the HIF-1/HRE response under hyperglycemia, except when proteasome was inhibited. Further
studies suggested that hyperglycemia disrupts the interaction of HIF-1α with Hsp90, a known cause
of proteasomal degradation of HIF-1α. Impaired HIF-1α regulation in cells exposed to hyperglycemic,
hypoxic diabetic-like milieu led to diminished production of vascular endothelial growth factor-A
and inhibition of cell migration (responses respectively involved in tubular protection and repair).
These efects, as well as impaired HIF-1α regulation, were reproduced in normoglycemia in HK-2 cells
incubated with microparticles released by HK-2 cells exposed to diabetic-like milieu. In summary, these
results highlight the role of proteasome-dependent mechanisms of HIF-1α degradation on diabetesinduced HK-2 cells dysfunction and suggest that cell-derived microparticles may mediate negative efects of the diabetic milieu on PTCThis work was supported by grants SAF2014-53218-R from the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación
