Capital social, metas del milenio y desarrollo local : el caso de la Iniciativa de Carapeguá en Desarrollo, Paraguay

    Get PDF

A language for modeling the morphogenesis process of biological system using MAS

    Get PDF
The biological systems are Complex Adaptive Systems that can build a complex structure using interaction between cell and its environment. The process is called morphogenesis, it is study by developmental biology and applied by tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Computational models are used by researchers to organize and communicate ideas, test hypotheses and abstractly represent behaviors, etc. Although, Agent Based Models are used in biological systems, it is necessary appropriate domain-oriented language. This work shows the progress made in the definition of a language for modeling and simulation of such systems, in order to hide details of implementation and execution of a simulation. The language concepts are demonstrated using, as study case, the morphogenesis of a heart valve in vitro.Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativa (SADIO

Factors that affect quality of work life of the millennials linked to the commercial sector in Colombia

    Get PDF
The present investigation has two aims: (1) to empirically examine the factors that affect QWL among the millennials working in the commercial sector in Colombia and (2) to investigate the role of a set of individual differences as moderators (for example, gender, educational level and type of contract) in a complete QWL model, based on the methodology of (Tarhini, Hone, & Liu, 2014). The instrument used was the Work Quality of Life Tool (Wage and Subjective Conditions) which has been validated in the previous studies. The total of 1,163 surveys were conducted with workers from the commercial sector in Colombia who belong to the generation Y or the millennial generation, that is, born between 1981 and 2000. The results show that training, promotion, wages and the relationship of the individual with their work directly and positively affect the quality of work life in the study sample. We conduct a confirmatory factor analysis based on structural equations, revealing that the majority of the hypothesis associated with gender, educational level and type of contract were supported. This study serves to support the establishment of programs, projects and management plans to generate adequate use of the talents and skills of the millennials and thus create challenging and satisfactory jobs that increase organizational productivity

The interactions that arise in the work for corners in Infantile Education

We will center specifically, in the interactions that take place between the pupils in the above mentioned corners from the interpretation that the teacher does. The considered sample there have been teachers of 15 educational school (11 public schools and 4 compound schools) of an urban ambience(medium-sized city) and of a rural ambience,74 teachers of the above mentioned schools have been the taking part sample. The methodology that we have been quantitative using like data source a questionnaire. The obtained results show that the work of corners in the classrooms of Infantile Education has important benefits for the children of this age so much for the social interactions like the affective ones

Phase Transitions in Two-Dimensional Traffic Flow Models

    Get PDF
We introduce two simple two-dimensional lattice models to study traffic flow in cities. We have found that a few basic elements give rise to the characteristic phase diagram of a first-order phase transition from a freely moving phase to a jammed state, with a critical point. The jammed phase presents new transitions corresponding to structural transformations of the jam. We discuss their relevance in the infinite size limit.Comment: RevTeX 3.0 file. Development of an equipment for real-time continuous monitoring of alpha and beta radioactivity in river water

    Get PDF
Different regulations require the monitoring of radioactivity in the environment (e.g., 2013/51/Euratom, Real Decreto 314/2016) to protect the environment and the population from abnormal radioactivity presence caused by natural reasons or discharges or accidents in nuclear installations. Nowadays, the monitoring of α- and β-emitting radionuclides is performed discontinuously in laboratories due to the difficulties in applying classical techniques to continuous measurements. This limits the number of samples that can be measured per day, produces high costs per analysis, and introduces a significant delay between the moment of contamination and when it is detected. Plastic scintillation microspheres (PSm) represent a new possibility for continuous measurements because water samples can flow through a bed of PSm connected to a pair of photomultipliers (PMTs), allowing continuous monitoring of the activity. This idea is the basis of the Waterrad detector, which can monitor radioactivity at environmental levels in river water. This paper describes the optimization of a detection cell containing PSm, a detection chamber as well as active and passive shielding. In its final set-up, the Waterrad detector presents a background signal of 0.23 (1) cps and detection efficiencies of 1.86(7)⋅10 5 cps⋅L⋅Bq 1 for 3H, 7.4(8)⋅10 3 cps⋅L⋅Bq 1 for 90Sr/90Y and 5.5(5)⋅10 3 cps⋅L⋅Bq 1 for 241Am. The detection limits in the optimum window for a counting time of 5 h were 490 Bq/L for 3H, 2.3 Bq/L for 90Sr/90Y and 3.0 Bq/L for 241Am. These values indicate that Waterrad can be used as an alarm detector for monitoring radioactivity in water at activity levels similar to those of environmental samples, making it suitable for water or waste surveillance involving a high frequency of measurements
