Enhancing organizational performance with social media use: the catalysing effect of corporate entrepreneurship

    Get PDF
Social Media use has become pervasive and firms are increasingly relying on it, not only to relate to customers, but also to leverage internal processes like innovation. The strategic use of these tools can facilitate also the entrepreneurial orientation of the firm, as it provides useful knowledge which can make the firm more entrepreneurial, stimulating it to find new opportunities or innovative ideas where other companies do not recognize them. However, despite the relevance of the phenomenon in current hyper-competitive environments, empirical research on the topic remains scarce. To shed some light on the issue, the main purpose of the paper is to examine how Social Media use impacts the different dimensions of corporate entrepreneurship (new business venturing, innovativeness, proactiveness and self-renewal), enhancing also organizational performance. The study is intended to extend knowledge on this topic, by providing understanding of the path firms should take to benefit from Social Media use to become more entrepreneurial and achieve higher organizational performance, developing and nurturing competitive advantages. The paper analyses data obtained from a sample of 201 technological firms located in Spain. The methodology used is Structural equation modelling with LISREL analysis. Findings confirms how the use of Social Media tools positively impacted all the different dimensions of corporate entrepreneurship, translating also in enhanced performance. This paper contributes to the literature by empirically confirming in a structural model how Social Media use helps to create business value, by enhancing proactive behaviours, promoting strategic renewal inside the firm and increasing innovativeness and new business venturing and displaying the internal and sequential relationships among these dimensions.

    Get PDF
This article examines the lasting impact of architects Karl Linn and John Turner on community development and informal settlements. Grounded in the barn raising tradition, their distinct yet converging paths highlight the power of community participation, collaboration, and self-help in marginalized neighborhoods. Linn's Neighborhood Commons projects and Turner's ideas on self-help housing and user-centered design have influenced participatory practices, challenged institutional norms, and prioritized a process over product approach in today's complex urban landscapes. This exploration underscores the profound impact of their work on neighborhood improvement and inclusive urban environments

Phase Magnitude Diagram for Linear Systems With Delay

    Get PDF
[Abstract] Transfer functions can be viewed as complex functions where the magnitude and the phase of a system depend on complex numbers. In our previous work, we have developed a graphical tool where transfer functions are represented in a four-dimensional space. The magnitude is represented in decibels in the third dimension and a color code is applied to represent the phase in a fourth dimension. Level curves are used to compare points with the same magnitude or phase. This tool, which is called Phase Magnitude diagram, makes it more intuitive to understand complex functions. This representation allows the user to visually obtain the phase and the gain that have to be added to a system to meet some design specifications. After that, any control approach can be employed. The application to systems with delay is discussed in this paper. It is demonstrated that the Phase Magnitude diagram can be efficiently applied to design an ideal PD controller for a system with delay. In addition, it is deduced that this instrument is not limited to this class of system.https://doi.org/10.17979/spudc.978849749808

From post-consumption experience evaluation to online generated content and intensification

In the context of museums, this paper analyses to what extent visitor evaluation of the in situ experience (satisfaction and perceived value) drives their short-term online behaviours (visiting online content and generating content in online sites). On the basis of the balance theory and on the optimal stimulation level theory, it proposes that the evaluation of the experience has an inverted U-effect on visit intensification while a U-effect on the intention to generate content after the visit. Findings indicate that satisfaction fosters the intention to consume further content, while the perception of having gained the maximum value limits it (inverted U-effect). On the other hand, while satisfaction and the perception of a profitable visit motivate visitors to post online comments, poor experiences in museums have no impact on the generation of online content

RNA-seq based analysis of transcriptomic changes associated with ABA-induced postharvest cold tolerance in zucchini fruit

Given that external treatments with ABA had been proved to alleviate chilling injury in the immature zucchini fruit, an RNAseq analysis was conducted to gain insight into the molecular mechanisms that are involved in ABAinduced postharvest cold tolerance. Fruit from the cold sensitive cultivar Sinatra were treated with ABA and then stored for 14 d at 4 ºC. Exocarp samples from control and ABA-treated fruit were taken at 1, 5 and 14 d of cold storage, assessing the transcriptional changes during postharvest storage relative to freshly harvested fruit. The RNAseq analysis produced 229 million high-quality reads from a total of about 23,000 unigenes. Pairwise comparisons of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in treated and untreated samples at each cold storage time resulted in 852, 793 and 1120 DEGs that were specifically found in the ABA-treated but not in the control fruit at either 1, 5 or 14 d of cold storage. This ABA-specific DEG list was subjected to a GO and KEGG enrichment analysis, as well as to a clusterization of gene expression profiles. This revealed the significance of certain metabolic and signaling pathways participating in ABA-induced postharvest cold tolerance, highlighting the relevance of the Ca2+ signaling pathway, as well as the positive regulation mediated by certain hormones such as ethylene and jasmonate, and the negative regulation mediated by others like auxins and brassinosteroids. A number of DEGs were also found in the ABA-treated fruit that code for transcription factors, as well as for genes involved in oxidative stress response and in membrane and cell wall metabolism. Data indicates that ABAinduced cold tolerance is not mediated by CBF-like genes but involve the up- and down-regulation of several transcription factors in the BZIP, GRAS, MYB, MYC, NAC and ZAT families that are known to participate as positive and negative regulators in the cold defensive response. Moreover, ABA regulates different genes responsible for reducing oxidative stress damage, inducing the biosynthesis of cuticular wax and repressing the biosynthesis of lignin, as well as protecting membrane and cell wall integrity in fruit cells during postharvest cold storage.Spanish Government AGL2017-82885-C2-1-R PID2020-118080RB-C21 PID2020-118080RB-C22Junta de Andalucia P20_00327 UAL18-BIO-B017-B P20_00327 UAL18-BIO-B017-BUniversity of Almeri Hipatia project of the UALSpanish Government UAL18-BIO-B017-B DIN2018-010127B0483563
