Modelos poblacionales de dos sexos aplicados a especies poligínicas

En este trabajo revisamos un modelo poblacional de dos sexos enfocándolo en la relación entre demografía y estructura social para una especie poligínica. El modelo fue aplicado a la población de elefantes marinos del sur de Península Valdés, una población que muestra tendencias contrastantes en dos subunidades con distinta estructura social. Este enfoque provee un marco general que permite incluir variables sociales en la dinámica de poblaciones como una extensión del modelo lineal estándar y aporta una herramienta al análisis de la dinámica identificando las influencias relativas de cada sexo.We review a two-sex population model and focus on the link between demography and social structure in a polygynous species. The model was applied to the southern elephant seal population of Península Valdés, one that shows contrasting trends in two demographic subunits with distinct social structure. This approach provides a general framework to include social variables into population dynamics. Separation properties for iterated function systems of bounded distortion

In this paper we study a general separation property for subsystems G, whose attractor KG is a sub-self-similar set. This is a generalization of the Lau-Ngai weak separation property for the bounded distortion case. For subsystems with positive Hausdorff measure in its similarity dimension, we characterize the subsets of KG with positive measure where the separation property may fail. We exhibit two examples of fractal sets, one not satisfying the weak separation property and whose existence was questioned by Zerner, the other having positive Hausdorff measure in its dimension and with the separation property failing on a subset of positive measure.Fil: Panzone, Pablo Andres. A combinatorial identity and applications

An identity for the finite sum 1^N rac{z^n}{q^n-r} is given. Related sums (or series) were studied  by Scherk, Clausen, Ramanujan, Shanks, Andrews and others. We use such identity  to give  new   formulas for sum_1^infty rac{z^n}{q^n-r}, the Riemann zeta function and Euler-Mascheroni constant. Criterios de correspondencia tímbrica e interdependencia recíproca a partir de la incorporación del contrabajo y el bajo eléctrico a la música popular argentina

Partiendo de nuestra experiencia como bajistas y contrabajistas, y de la constante reflexión como músicos populares latinoamericanos comprometidos con el hacer desde la investigación, la experimentación y la praxis, nos hemos propuesto analizar criterios de producción musical, basados en la vinculación tímbrica homorrítmica u homofónica entre dos o más instrumentos. Desarrollamos para esto, dos conceptos a los cuales denominamos interdependencia recíproca y correspondencia tímbrica, para referirnos, respectiva y sucesivamente, a las duplicaciones instrumentales condicionadas por convenciones ligadas a ciertos géneros musicales y a las duplicaciones que surgen a partir de búsquedas estéticas alternativas.Facultad de Bellas Arte

Analysis of the Catecholaminergic Phenotype in Human SH-SY5Y and BE(2)-M17 Neuroblastoma Cell Lines upon Differentiation

Human cell lines are often used to investigate cellular pathways relevant for physiological or pathological processes or to evaluate cell toxicity or protection induced by different compounds, including potential drugs. In this study, we analyzed and compared the differentiating activities of three agents (retinoic acid, staurosporine and 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate) on the human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y and BE(2)-M17 cell lines; the first cell line is largely used in the field of neuroscience, while the second is still poorly characterized. After evaluating their effects in terms of cell proliferation and morphology, we investigated their catecholaminergic properties by assessing the expression profiles of the major genes involved in catecholamine synthesis and storage and the cellular concentrations of the neurotransmitters dopamine and noradrenaline. Our results demonstrate that the two cell lines possess similar abilities to differentiate and acquire a neuron-like morphology. The most evident effects in SH-SY5Y cells were observed in the presence of staurosporine, while in BE(2)-M17 cells, retinoic acid induced the strongest effects. Undifferentiated SH-SY5Y and BE(2)-M17 cells are characterized by the production of both NA and DA, but their levels are considerably higher in BE(2)-M17 cells. Moreover, the NAergic phenotype appears to be more pronounced in SH-SY5Y cells, while BE(2)-M17 cells have a more prominent DAergic phenotype. Finally, the catecholamine concentration strongly increases upon differentiation induced by staurosporine in both cell lines. In conclusion, in this work the catecholaminergic phenotype of the human BE(2)-M17 cell line upon differentiation was characterized for the first time. Our data suggest that SH-SY5Y and BE(2)-M17 represent two alternative cell models for the neuroscience field

The article focusses on the performance of the Christian Democrat Augusto Conte during the first years of democratic reconstruction in Argentina. From a microanalytical perspective on an individual scale, it is possible to shed light on the complex network of political-social actors of the early eighties around two central problems of this particular situation: the revision of the dictatorial past and the prosecution of those responsible for the violations of human rights. The follow-up of this trajectory makes it possible to elucidate the scope and limitations faced by this deputy as representative of the human rights movement in Parliament against the government's strategies, the demands and tensions that human rights organizations went through and the conflicts that arose in the Christian Democratic Party in whose name he assumed the position.The article focusses on the performance of the Christian Democrat Augusto Conte during the first years of democratic reconstruction in Argentina.
