Sustainability performance assessment with intuitionistic fuzzy composite metrics and its application to the motor industry

    Get PDF
The performance assessment of companies in terms of sustainability requires to find a balance between multiple and possibly conflicting criteria. We here rely on composite metrics to rank a set of companies within an industry considering environmental, social and corporate governance criteria. To this end, we connect intuitionistic fuzzy sets and composite programming to propose novel composite metrics. These metrics allow to integrate important environmental, social and governance principles with the gradual membership functions of fuzzy set theory. The main result of this paper is a sustainability assessment method to rank companies within a given industry. In addition to consider multiple objectives, this method integrates two important social principles such as maximum utility and fairness. A real-world example is provided to describe the application of our sustainability assessment method within the motor industry. A further contribution of this paper is a multicriteria generalization of the concept of magnitude of a fuzzy number

How Does 5G NR V2X Mode 2 Handle Aperiodic Packets and Variable Packet Sizes?

—5G NR V2X complements LTE V2X to support advanced V2X services for connected and automated driving. 5G NR V2X introduces novel features at the MAC layer that are designed to cope with potential packet collisions, and that could help address the LTE V2X MAC inefficiencies observed under aperiodic traffic of variable size. This is the case of the reevaluation mechanism that is a mandatory MAC feature of 5G NR V2X, and that seeks avoiding possible packet collisions detected before a vehicle transmits in selected resources. Evaluations conducted to date of 5G NR V2X do not consider the re-evaluation mechanism, and have focused on traffic patterns that do not fully account for the traffic variability of advanced V2X services. This paper extends the current state of the art with the first evaluation of a fully standard compliant 5G NR V2X implementation under the traffic patterns recommended by 3GPP for advanced V2X services. Our study shows that 5G NR V2X Mode 2 still faces MAC challenges when using semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) to efficiently support aperiodic traffic of variable size

Inverse Malthusianism and Recycling Economics: The Case of the Textile Industry

[EN] The current use of natural resources in the textile industry leads us to introduce a new economic concept called inverse Malthusianism describing a context in which population grows linearly and resource consumption grows exponentially. Inverse Malthusianism implies an exponential increase in environmental impact that recycling may contribute to reduce. Our main goal is to extend the analysis of materials selection under the principle of equimarginality proposed by Jevons. As a first result, we show the particular circumstances under which policies excluding recycled supplies are never optimal. We also aim to overcome the difficulties of reducing environmental aspects to monetary units. To this end, we propose a multicriteria approach to solve the conventional-recycled materials dilemma considering not only economic but also environmental criteria. Then, we allow producers to enrich their decision-making process with relevant information about the environmental impact of materials selection. Although we use examples of the textile industry to illustrate our results, most of the insights in this paper can be extended to other industries.Salas-Molina, F.; Pla Santamaría, D.; Vercher-Ferrandiz, ML.; Reig-Mullor, J. A comparative analysis of the semi-persistent and dynamic scheduling schemes in NR-V2X mode 2

    Get PDF
Over the last years, the evolution of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) services from basic safety-related to enhanced V2X (eV2X) applications prompted the development of the 5G New Radio (NR)-V2X technology. Standardized by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) in Release 16, NR-V2X features a distributed resource allocation mode, known as Mode 2, that allows vehicles to autonomously select their transmission resources employing a Semi-Persistent Scheduling (SPS) or a Dynamic Scheduling (DS) scheme. The SPS approach relies on the periodic reservation of resources, whereas the DS scheme is a reservation-less solution that forces the selection of new transmission resources for every generated message. 3GPP standards do not indicate under which conditions each scheduling scheme should be used. In this context, this study analyzes and compares the performance of SPS and DS under different traffic types and Packet Delay Budget (PDB) requirements. Simulation results demonstrate that the SPS scheme represents the best solution for serving fixed size periodic traffic, whereas DS is more adequate for aperiodic traffic (of fixed or variable size). The study shows that the superiority of DS over SPS becomes more evident when tighter PDB requirements are considered, and that the performance of the DS scheme is independent of the PDB. It is also demonstrated that an adaptive scheduling strategy, which allows vehicles to select the scheduling scheme that best suits the type of generated traffic, is the best solution in mixed traffic scenarios where fixed size periodic traffic and variable size aperiodic traffic sources coexist

Roughly, the conscience for sustainability unveils a process of civil self-management in the face of the absence or inefficiency of state management in terms of resource supply and quality of public services. In this sense, the present work set out to establish a model for the study of the phenomenon. Documentary work was done with a sample selection of sources indexed to national repositories, considering the year of publication and the keywords. Lines related to the extension of the model, as well as to the comparison between regions are confirmed to corroborate the findings reported in the literature.

Assessment of CD-105 as an Angiogenic Modulator in Odontogenic Myxomas and Dental Follicles

    Get PDF
Aim. Odontogenic myxoma is a benign intraosseous neoplasm of the jaws, with a locally aggressive behavior and a high recurrence rate. CD-105 is a homodimeric cell membrane glycoprotein and is a component of the TGF-β1 growth factor receptor complex that modulates angiogenesis by regulating the proliferation, differentiation and cellular migration. The aim of this study is to quantify the microvascular density of the odontogenic myxoma based on the expression of CD-105. Materials and Methods. The analysis included 18 odontogenic myxoma and 18 dental follicles as controls. A standard immunohistochemical procedure was performed with the CD-105 antibody. Five representative fields (40×) of the odontogenic myxoma and the dental follicles were selected to determine the microvascular density, which was then followed by a descriptive and comparative statistical analysis. Results. Dental follicles presented a significantly higher microvascular density compared with odontogenic myxoma (P = .001). The odontogenic myxoma smaller than 3 cm showed a greater microvascular density than those larger than 3 cm in size (P > .05), and the microvascular density was lower in large odontogenic myxomas as compared with the dental follicles (P = .003). Conclusion. A weaker expression of CD-105 in odontogenic myxoma might indicate a lower angiogenic activity, suggesting that vascular proliferation has a limited role in the growth mechanisms and in the aggressive behavior of this neoplasm.peer-reviewe

The objective of the present work was to specify a model for the study of governance training. The theory intellectual capital essentially means that there is an indirect relationship between vocational training and job placement. Leadership styles are mediators in this process because they transfer values and norms that guide needs and expectations, as well as skills and knowledge to carry out the tasks and achieve the achievements. A non-experimental, documentary, cross-sectional and exploratory study was carried out with a selection of sources indexed to Latin American leading repositories, considering the publication period and ISSN and DOI registration; Dialnet, Latindex, Publindex, Redalyc and Scielo repositories. Since the specified model can be contrasted, the inclusion of factors such as empowerment and entrepreneurships are recommended to establish the scope and limits of the model
