    Liderazgo Coaching: un modelo de referencia para el ejercicio del enfermero-líder en el contexto hospitalario

    The objectives of the present study was to evaluate the leadership of nurses by using the coaching strategy as a managerial tool, and identify, measure and analyze the acquisition of competencies from the view of nurse-coaches. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, exploratory and field study that was performed using a quantitative approach. Situational Leadership was selected as the theoretical framework and the research instrument was submitted to statistical and content analyses and was applied on 11 nurse leaders of a large scale private general hospital located in São Paulo. The results showed that participants gained new knowledge, confirmed the Situational Leadership model as the recognized being a coach leader, with a style that is mainly aimed at tasks and people, according to the situation involved, and pointed out the following skills as determinant of coaches: communication, giving and receiving feedback, assigning and gaining power and having an influence. Finally, the attitudes reflected the practice of coaching.El estudio objetivó evaluar el liderazgo ejercido por enfermeras con uso de coaching como herramienta gerencial, identificar, mensurar y analizar la adquisición de competencias percibidas por enfermeras que actúan como coachs. Estudio descriptivo, transversal, exploratorio, de campo, con abordaje cuantitativo. El Liderazgo Situacional se seleccionó como referencial teórico y el instrumento investigativo fue sometido a análisis estadísticos y de contenido, aplicado a 111 enfermeras líderes en hospital general privado de gran porte de San Paulo. Los resultados evidenciaron que hubo incorporación de nuevos conocimientos, confirmaron el modelo de Liderazgo Situacional al reconocer al líder coach teniendo un estilo predominantemente orientado a tareas y personas, según la situación involucrada, y también indicaron con foco en las habilidades preponderantes del coach: comunicación, dar y recibir feedback, dar y ganar poder y ejercer influencia; que las actitudes reflejaron el ejercicio de liderazgo coaching.O presente estudo teve por objetivos avaliar a liderança exercida pelas enfermeiras com uso do coaching como ferramenta gerencial, identificar, mensurar e analisar a aquisição de competências percebidas pelas enfermeiras que atuam como coaches, Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, transversal, exploratório e de campo, com abordagem quantitativa.     Liderança coaching : questionários de avaliação de percepções de líderes e liderados na enfermagem

    Objective : To describe the development, content analysis, and reliability of two questionnaires to assess the perception of nurse leaders, nurse technicians, and licensed practical nurses − coached in the practice of leadership and the relation with the dimensions of the coaching process. Methods : This was a methodological study with a quantitative and qualitative approach, which had the goal of instrumentation in reference to the construction and validation of measuring instruments. The instrument proposition design was based on the literature on leadership, coaching, and assessment of psychometric properties, subjected to content validation as to clarity, relevance, and applicability in order to validate the propositions through the consensus of judges, using the Delphi technique, in 2010. The final version of the questionnaires was administered to 279 nurses and 608 nurse technicians and licensed practical nurses, at two university hospitals and two private hospitals. Results : The Cronbach’s alpha value with all items of the self-perception instrument was very high (0.911). The team members’ instrument of perception showed that for all determinants and for each dimension of the coaching process, Cronbach’s overall alpha value (0.952) was considered quite high, pointing to a very strong consistency of the scale. Confirmatory analysis showed that the models were well adjusted. Conclusion : From the statistical validation we compared the possibility of reusing the questionnaires for other study samples, because there was evidence of reliability and applicability.Objetivo : Apresentar o desenvolvimento, a análise de conteúdo e a confiabilidade de dois questionários para avaliar a percepção de enfermeiros-líderes, técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem – liderados sobre a prática da liderança e a relação com as dimensões do processo coaching . Métodos : trata-se de um estudo metodológico, de abordagem quanti-qualitativa, que teve como meta a instrumentação que se refere à construção e à validação de instrumentos de medida. A concepção das proposições dos instrumentos foi fundamentada na literatura sobre liderança, coaching e aferição das propriedades psicométricas, submetida à validação de conteúdo quanto a clareza, relevância e aplicabilidade, com o objetivo de validar as proposições por meio do consenso de juízes, utilizando a técnica Delphi, em 2010. A versão final dos questionários foi aplicada a 279 enfermeiros e 608 técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem em dois hospitais universitários e dois hospitais privados. Resultados : O valor do alfa de Cronbach com todos os itens do instrumento de autopercepção foi muito alto (0,911). O instrumento de percepção dos liderados demonstrou que, tanto para todos os determinantes como para cada dimensão do processo coaching , o valor de alfa de Cronbach total (0,952) foi considerado bastante alto, apontando fortíssima consistência da escala. A análise confirmatória demonstrou que os modelos estavam bem ajustados.     Exposição ao nível de ruído da equipe do setor da merenda de uma escola estadual do Grande ABC / Exposure to the noise level of the teaching sector of the stunning school of Grande ABC

    O ambiente escolar é pouco analisado sob o ponto de vista da Higiene Ocupacional. Nas escolas, o ruído ambiental está presente através de diversas formas, causando diversos danos. Dessa forma, estudos que busquem a promoção da saúde auditiva e a conscientização da comunidade escolar com relação ao ruído são fundamentais. O principal objetivo desse trabalho foi identificar se as funcionárias da área da merenda estavam expostas a uma dose de ruído acima do nível de ação e elucidar a qual dose elas estavam expostas. O estudo foi realizado em uma escola estadual de ensino fundamental e médio, no município de São Bernardo do Campo/ SP. Para a avaliação do nível de ruído utilizou- se o equipamento Extech modelo SL 355 devidamente calibrado, com faixa de medição entre 50 a 100 dBA modo SLOW e curva de ponderação A e fator de troca q=5. Os resultados apresentados no estudo mostram que as funcionárias da merenda estavam expostas a uma dose de ruído acima do nível de ação. Devido ao nível de ruído exposto, devem ser iniciadas ações preventivas de forma a minimizar a probabilidade do ruído ultrapassar o limite de exposição

ReisParacoccidioides brasiliensis is the causative agent of paracoccidioidomycosis, a disease that affects 10 million individuals in Latin America. This report depicts the results of the analysis of 6,022 assembled groups from mycelium and yeast phase expressed sequence tags, covering about 80% of the estimated genome of this dimorphic, thermo-regulated fungus. The data provide a comprehensive view of the fungal metabolism, including overexpressed transcripts, stage-specific genes, and also those that are up- or down-regulated as assessed by in silico electronic subtraction and cDNA microarrays. Also, a significant differential expression pattern in mycelium and yeast cells was detected, which was confirmed by Northern blot analysis, providing insights into differential metabolic adaptations. The overall transcriptome analysis provided information about sequences related to the cell cycle, stress response, drug resistance, and signal transduction pathways of the pathogen. Novel P. brasiliensis genes have been identified, probably corresponding to proteins that should be addressed as virulence factor candidates and potential new drug targets

    High anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody seroconversion rates before the second wave in Manaus, Brazil, and the protective effect of social behaviour measures: results from the prospective DETECTCoV-19 cohort

    Background: The city of Manaus, Brazil, has seen two collapses of the health system due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We report anti-SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid IgG antibody seroconversion rates and associated risk factors in Manaus residents before the second wave of the epidemic in Brazil. Methods: A convenience sample of adult (aged ≥18 years) residents of Manaus was recruited through online and university website advertising into the DETECTCoV-19 study cohort. The current analysis of seroconversion included a subgroup of DETECTCoV-19 participants who had at least two serum sample collections separated by at least 4 weeks between Aug 19 and Oct 2, 2020 (visit 1), and Oct 19 and Nov 27, 2020 (visit 2). Those who reported (or had no data on) having a COVID-19 diagnosis before visit 1, and who were positive for anti-SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid IgG antibodies at visit 1 were excluded. Using an in-house ELISA, the reactivity index (RI; calculated as the optical density ratio of the sample to the negative control) for serum anti-SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid IgG antibodies was measured at both visits. We calculated the incidence of seroconversion (defined as RI values ≤1·5 at visit 1 and ≥1·5 at visit 2, and a ratio >2 between the visit 2 and visit 1 RI values) during the study period, as well as incidence rate ratios (IRRs) through cluster-corrected and adjusted Poisson regression models to analyse associations between seroconversion and variables related to sociodemographic characteristics, health access, comorbidities, COVID-19 exposure, protective behaviours, and symptoms. Findings: 2496 DETECTCoV-19 cohort participants returned for a follow-up visit between Oct 19 and Nov 27, 2020, of whom 204 reported having COVID-19 before the first visit and 24 had no data regarding previous disease status. 559 participants were seropositive for anti-SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid IgG antibodies at baseline. Of the remaining 1709 participants who were seronegative at baseline, 71 did not meet the criteria for seroconversion and were excluded from the analyses. Among the remaining 1638 participants who were seronegative at baseline, 214 showed seroconversion at visit 2. The seroconversion incidence was 13·06% (95% CI 11·52–14·79) overall and 6·78% (5·61–8·10) for symptomatic seroconversion, over a median follow-up period of 57 days (IQR 54–61). 48·1% of seroconversion events were estimated to be asymptomatic. The sample had higher proportions of affluent and higher-educated people than those reported for the Manaus city population. In the fully adjusted and corrected model, risk factors for seroconversion before visit 2 were having a COVID-19 case in the household (IRR 1·49 [95% CI 1·21–1·83]), not wearing a mask during contact with a person with COVID-19 (1·25 [1·09–1·45]), relaxation of physical distancing (1·31 [1·05–1·64]), and having flu-like symptoms (1·79 [1·23–2·59]) or a COVID-19 diagnosis (3·57 [2·27–5·63]) between the first and second visits, whereas working remotely was associated with lower incidence (0·74 [0·56–0·97]). Interpretation: An intense infection transmission period preceded the second wave of COVID-19 in Manaus. Several modifiable behaviours increased the risk of seroconversion, including non-compliance with non-pharmaceutical interventions measures such as not wearing a mask during contact, relaxation of protective measures, and non-remote working. Increased testing in high-transmission areas is needed to provide timely information about ongoing transmission and aid appropriate implementation of transmission mitigation measures.     A presente coletânea, que chega ao público através de um suporte digital, tem como objetivo disponibilizar os papers, bem como os relatos de experiências educomunicativas apresentados durante o V ENCONTRO BRASILEIRO DE EDUCOMUNICAÇÃO, que teve como tema central: “Educação Midiática e Políticas Públicas”. O evento foi realizado em São Paulo, entre 19 e 21 de setembro de 2013, a partir de uma parceria entre o NCE/USP - Núcleo de Comunicação e Educação da USP, a Licenciatura em Educomunicação da ECA/USP, a ABPEducom – Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores e Profissionais da Educomunicação e a FAPCOM – Faculdade Paulus de Tecnologia e Comunicação, que ofereceu seu campus, na Vila Mariana, para os atos do evento.     Abstract Chagas disease is a neglected chronic condition with a high burden of morbidity and mortality. It has considerable psychological, social, and economic impacts. The disease represents a significant public health issue in Brazil, with different regional patterns. This document presents the evidence that resulted in the Brazilian Consensus on Chagas Disease. The objective was to review and standardize strategies for diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and control of Chagas disease in the country, based on the available scientific evidence. The consensus is based on the articulation and strategic contribution of renowned Brazilian experts with knowledge and experience on various aspects of the disease. It is the result of a close collaboration between the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine and the Ministry of Health. It is hoped that this document will strengthen the development of integrated actions against Chagas disease in the country, focusing on epidemiology, management, comprehensive care (including families and communities), communication, information, education, and research
