Estudo teórico do mecanismo catalítico da enzima Piruvato Formato Liase

Dissertação de Mestrado em Química apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do PortoA conversão de piruvato e CoA em acetil-CoA e formato, catalisada pela enzima piruvato formato liase (PFL), ocorre em duas etapas. A primeira dessas etapas foi estudada no âmbito deste trabalho.Dado o tamanho do sistema em causa, foram usados modelos que constituem apenas uma pequena parcela da enzima. Efectuou-se também uma comparação crítica relativamente ao uso do substrato (piruvato) na forma neutra ou carregada, de modo a estabelecer o que reproduz de forma mais adequada o comportamento do sistema. O mecanismo catalítico desta enzima foi estudado utilizando um formalismo quântico designado teoria do funcional de densidade (DFT).Os resultados obtidos permitem apresentar um mecanismo compatível com os dados experimentais. Um dado importante emergente deste trabalho diz respeito à inexistência de um intermediário tetraédrico, para a adição de uma cisteína radicalar ao piruvato previsto em mecanismos apoiados em trabalho experimental. Os cálculos efectuados revelam apenas a existência de um estado de transição, para o passo em questão, o que pode justificar o facto de o intermediário nunca ter sido detectado

RESTITUIÇÃO DO ICMS PAGO A MAIOR NOS CASOS DE SUBSTITUIÇÃO TRIBUTÁRIA PARA FRENTE E OS REFLEXOS NO DESENVOLVIMENTO

O presente trabalho objetiva analisar a substituição tributária para frente, e a possibilidade de restituição quando ocorra diferença de valores entre a base presumida e a base real. Explicitou que há dois entendimentos dissonantes, uma vez que uma parcela defende a impossibilidade de restituição do imposto pago a maior e a outra parte assevera que é imprescindível a devolução do valor pago a maior. Foi grande a discussão acerca do tema, até que, por fim, o Supremo definiu o tema, determinando a devolução dos valores e modulando os efeitos pró Fisco, o que gera reflexos no direito ao desenvolvimento

O caso apple e a análise da governança corporativa versus planejamento tributário

Estuda-se o caso Apple e a manutenção de valores no exterior para investimentos sem pagamento de tributos. Assim, fala-se sobre planejamento tributário como forma lícita de diminuição da carga tributária. Ademais, a governança corporativa, com o fito de demonstrar que é forma de administração empresarial, com a finalidade de torná-la mais transparente e para atingir os interesses de todos os acionistas. Posteriormente, demonstrou-se que a Apple se utilizando de países com tributação diferenciada transfere valores arrecadados sem pagamento de tributos, causando perda de arrecadação para o governo dos Estados Unidos da América. UM OLHAR SOBRE A EFETIVIDADE DAS POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS TRIBUTÁRIAS NA BUSCA DA JUSTIÇA SOCIAL

O presente artigo tem como mote analisar os aspectos sociais que o Estado está obrigado a fornecer à sociedade e as repercussões dos tributos, considerando a tributação como importante instrumento para o desenvolvimento econômico e social. A tributação é necessária não apenas como forma de financiar os custos do próprio Estado, mas para realizar a redistribuição de riquezas. Fez-se um estudo acerca dessa função do Estado e a busca pela Justiça Social. Assim, no cenário nacional, pode-se afirmar que existem políticas públicas para garantir efetivamente a justiça social? Translation, adaptation, and validation of the Portuguese version of the exercise of self-care agency scale

Abstract: Assessing a person’s capacity to engage in self-care behaviours is another added value in identifying one’s potential to care for oneself in the health domain that contributes to planning person-centred care. This study aimed to translate, adapt, and validate the Exercise of Self-Care Agency (ESCA) Scale by Kearney and Fleischer, revised by Riesch and Hauck for the Portuguese version, using a sample of 625 elderly people living at home in Portugal. A cross-cultural adaptation process follows the stages of translation, synthesis, back-translation, and consensual solution for the translation process and pretesting. Construct validity was tested using exploratory factor analysis, and factor structure was subjected to confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability was determined by analysing internal consistency, resorting to Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. This resulted in an instrument formed of 29 items, keeping the factor structure conceptually aligned with the underlying theory. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient values were 0.87 for the global scale and varied between 0.65 and 0.84 for the subscales. The final four-factor model showed an acceptable quality of fit. PRICE TRANSMISSION ON THE MILK PORTUGUESE MARKET

This paper aims to analyze the milk prices transmission along the food chain in Portugal, temporally and spatially. The results show that the volatility on retail prices is small but happens after 2008. The farm gate price does not change when the price of package milk changes. In mainland, price transmission does not happen but for Azores the transmission is effective. In the intensive systems, the risk to collapse is bigger than in the extensive systems, where the volatility of prices reflects the process of markets adjustment

The results show that the volatility on retail prices is small but after 2008 the prices outside industry show a real increase. Beside that evolution, farm gate price does not change when the price of package milk changes. In mainland, price transmission from retail to farm price does not happen but for Azores the transmission is effective. In the intensive systems, the risk to collapse is bigger than in the extensive systems, where the volatility of prices reflects the process of markets adjustment to changes in supply and demand conditions

NOITE DE SÃO LOURENÇO: A TANATOGRAFIA EM BERNARDO ÉLIS

Esse artigo tem como objetivo analisar o conto do escritor goiano Bernardo Élis Noite de São Lourençoentrelaçando-o com a vida do santo espanhol que morreu martirizado em uma fogueira. O conto é ambientado no interior goiano, no qual é impossível desassociar os elementos naturais com as manifestações sagradas e místicas. Buscamos perceber em sua literalidade os aspectos da cultura da região, e como o escritor constrói o enredo que se desagua na trágica morte da personagem principal, semelhante ao que ocorreu ao santo em seu funesto destino. Ao utilizar como mote a feitura de uma colcha de retalhos e uma romaria que acontece no dia consagrado a São Lourenço, o autor vai desvelando de modo sutil as relações sociais, a rusticidade da vida interiorana, a religiosidade popular que permeia o cotidiano e se manifesta, por exemplo, por meio das novenas e romarias.

Enzyme immobilization studied through molecular dynamic simulations

In recent years, simulations have been used to great advantage to understand the structural and dynamic aspects of distinct enzyme immobilization strategies, as experimental techniques have limitations in establishing their impact at the molecular level. In this review, we discuss how molecular dynamic simulations have been employed to characterize the surface phenomenon in the enzyme immobilization procedure, in an attempt to decipher its impact on the enzyme features, such as activity and stability. In particular, computational studies on the immobilization of enzymes using i) nanoparticles, ii) self-assembled monolayers, iii) graphene and carbon nanotubes, and iv) other surfaces are covered. Importantly, this thorough literature survey reveals that, while simulations have been primarily performed to rationalize the molecular aspects of the immobilization event, their use to predict adequate protocols that can control its impact on the enzyme properties is, up to date, mostly missing

University autonomy and the Brazilian Company of Hospital Services:: Aspects of the unconstitutionality of Law n. 12.550/2011 and the case of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Alagoas

O texto discute a experiência de gestão de um hospital universitário federal sob gestão da Empresa Brasileira de Serviços Hospitalares entre 2016 e 2017, focando a observância dos princípios da autonomia universitária, da indissociabilidade entre ensino, pesquisa e extensão e da gestão democrática das universidades. O método utilizado foi a análise de alguns aspectos da gestão: o processo decisório, a participação da comunidade universitária nela e as formas de resolução de conflitos à luz da revisão narrativa da literatura sobre o tema e das peças que compuseram a Ação Direta de Inconstitucionalidade 4895/2012 da Lei n. 12.550/2011, que criou a Empresa Brasileira de Serviços Hospitalares. O caso confirmou as previsões contidas na ação quanto à retirada da universidade das decisões sobre prioridades de investimento e funcionamento do hospital universitário e sobre a gestão dos recursos humanos, com consequências importantes para o tripé universitário. Pesquisas adicionais devem ser efetuadas para avaliar esse processo no nível nacional.This text discuss on the experience of management conducted by the Brazilian Company of Hospital Services of a university hospital in 2016 and 2017, with focus on the observance of the principles of university autonomy, the inseparableness between teaching, research and further education courses and the democratic management of universities. The method was the analysis of some aspects of management: the decision-making process, the participation of the university in such management and the forms of conflict resolution in light of narrative review of literature on the subject, and some pieces that comprise the Direct Unconstitutionality Action 4.895 against Brazilian Law no. 12.550/2011, which created the Brazilian Company of Hospital Services. The case confirmed the predictions contained in the action regarding the university’s withdrawal from decisions on investment priorities and university hospital operation, as well as on the management of human resources, with important consequences for the university support tripod. Further research should be carried out to evaluate this process at the national level
