    El estudio del paisaje en la educación formal y en la no formal se ha convertido en una necesidad para evitar la degradación del entorno y la pérdida de la diversidad patrimonial, cultural e identidad de los territorios. En estos últimos años y en diferentes ámbitos docentes, se ha desarrollado un notable interés por las posibilidades que brinda el paisaje a la educación, ya que, además de contar con las aportaciones de disciplinas más tradicionales en este ámbito (geografía, historia, geomorfología, hidrología, ecología, etc.), tiene en cuenta las dimensiones perceptiva y social. Así, este trabajo presenta una experiencia que pone de manifiesto la percepción que los estudiantes de Grado en Educación tienen del paisaje de la ciudad donde cursan sus estudios: Ciudad Real. Se centra, por tanto, en la geografía urbana, prestando especial atención a la percepción urbana. Y se compara, además, con la imagen de la ciudad promovida desde la administración local

    Dietary Inclusion of Halobacterium salinarum Modulates Growth Performances and Immune Responses in Farmed Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata L.)

    The use of natural immunostimulants is considered the most promising alternative to promote fish health, productive performance and quality, increasing the aquaculture profitability, sustainability and social acceptance. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the integration of a potential probiotic strain, Halobacterium salinarum, belonging to the Archaea domain, in the formulated diets of farmed gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata L.) in terms of growth performances and immunity responses. The experiment was set up to test two different levels of inclusion of the bacteria in the diet: 0.05% (D1) and 0.1% (D2). The effects on fish growth performances; humoral (peroxidase, protease, antiprotease and IgM levels) and cellular immunity parameters (phagocytosis, respiratory burst and myeloperoxidase), along with bactericidal activity, were evaluated after 15 and 30 days of experimental feeding. The obtained results showed that the inclusion of H. salinarum at the highest concentration (D2 0.1%) improved growth performances, bactericidal activity against Vibrio anguillarum and some parameters related both to the humoral and cellular immune response, suggesting exploring other aspects of welfare in view of future supplementations of this probiotic strain in the diet of S. aurata

    Processing and characterisation of calcium sulphoaluminate ecocements containing Microencapsulated Phase Change Materials

    Calcium SulphoAluminate (CSA) cements can be considered as ecocements, since their production releases up to 40% less CO2 than Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) [1]. In addition, Microencapsulated Phase Change Materials (MPCM) are receiving a growing attention in the last years for their capability of storing and releasing high energy (latent heat storage) at a narrow temperature range. Thus, the use of CSA ecocements blended with MPCM would let control the inner temperature of buildings. This would allow a double reduction of CO2 emissions due to the use of CSA rather than OPC, and the better reconditioning of houses, with the consequent social, economic and environmental benefits. This work is focused on the dispersion of MPCM in a CSA ecocement matrix and the further characterisation of the corresponding materials. All the important parameters evolved in the preparation of homogeneous CSA pastes and CSA+MPCM pastes were optimised (e.g. percentage of superplasticiser) through rheological studies. MPCM particles were well dispersed in the paste and were kept unaltered in the matrix. The thermal analysis confirmed the phase change properties of the blended cement pastes. In addition, a CSA paste was successfully coated by CSA+MPCM paste, supporting the technical viability of this type of coatings in buildings. Finally, the optimal thickness of a coating of CSA+PCM mortar adhered in a typical building located in Malaga (south of Spain) was theoretically calculated to avoid/minimise the use of air conditioning/heating, resulting in an economically viable project with a considerable reduction of CO2 emissions.     Negative screening of Fabry disease in patients with conduction disorders requiring a pacemaker.

    Identification of Fabry disease (FD) in cardiac patients has been restricted so far to patients with left ventricular hypertrophy. Conduction problems are frequent in FD and could precede other manifestations, offering a possible earlier diagnosis. We studied the prevalence of FD in 188 patients < 70 years with conduction problems requiring pacemaker implantation. Although classical manifestations of FD were not rare, no patient with FD was identified. Screening efforts should not be conducted in this population.post-print523 K

    Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tuberculosis management in Spain

Methods Participating centres completed a structured web-based survey regarding changes to TB patient management during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study also included data from participating centres on patients aged ≥18 diagnosed with TB in 2 periods: March 15 to June 30, 2020 and March 15 to June 30, 2019. Clinical variables and information about patient household contacts were retrospectively collected. Results A total of 7 (70%) TB units reported changes in their usual TB team operations. Across both periods of study, 169 patients were diagnosed with active TB (90 in 2019, 79 in 2020). Patients diagnosed in 2020 showed more frequent bilateral lesions in chest X-ray than patients diagnosed in 2019 ( P = 0.004). There was a higher percentage of latent TB infection and active TB among children in households of patients diagnosed in 2020, compared with 2019 ( P = 0.001). Conclusions The COVID-19 pandemic has caused substantial changes in TB care. TB patients diagnosed during the COVID-19 pandemic showed more extended pulmonary forms.     Comprehensive Plasma Metabolomic Profile of Patients with Advanced Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs). Diagnostic and Biological Relevance

    Purpose: High-throughput “-omic” technologies have enabled the detailed analysis of metabolic networks in several cancers, but NETs have not been explored to date. We aim to assess the metabolomic profile of NET patients to understand metabolic deregulation in these tumors and identify novel biomarkers with clinical potential. Methods: Plasma samples from 77 NETs and 68 controls were profiled by GC−MS, CE−MS and LC−MS untargeted metabolomics. OPLS-DA was performed to evaluate metabolomic differences. Related pathways were explored using Metaboanalyst 4.0. Finally, ROC and OPLS-DA analyses were performed to select metabolites with biomarker potential. Results: We identified 155 differential compounds between NETs and controls. We have detected an increase of bile acids, sugars, oxidized lipids and oxidized products from arachidonic acid and a decrease of carnitine levels in NETs. MPA/MSEA identified 32 enriched metabolic pathways in NETs related with the TCA cycle and amino acid metabolism. Finally, OPLS-DA and ROC analysis revealed 48 metabolites with diagnostic potential. Conclusions: This study provides, for the first time, a comprehensive metabolic profile of NET patients and identifies a distinctive metabolic signature in plasma of potential clinical use. A reduced set of metabolites of high diagnostic accuracy has been identified. Additionally, new enriched metabolic pathways annotated may open innovative avenues of clinical research
