This study aims to systematically assess the literature on the association between CPOD and the likelihood of suicide. The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42018096618). The Latin-American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), PubMed (including MedLine), SciELO, Scopus, LIVIVO, Web of Science, and PsychNET databases were used as primary study sources. OpenThesis and OpenGrey were used to partially capture the "grey literature". A manual search was also performed through a systematized analysis of the references of eligible articles. The risk of bias among the studies included was assessed with the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tools for Systematic Reviews. Because of the high heterogeneity among studies (I²=95%), a random effects meta-analysis was performed to estimate the variation in odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). The search provided 4762 results, from which only seven met the eligibility criteria and were ultimately included in the qualitative assessment of the review. The studies were published from 2002 to 2015. All studies presented low risk of bias. The total sample included 1390 suicide cases of COPD patients. The meta-analysis, which was based on five eligible case control studies, found that people with history of COPD are more likely to commit suicide (OR = 1.90; 95% CI = 1.27-2.48; p=0.002). In conclusion, COPD patients are 1.9 times more likely to commit suicide than people without COPDMestradoGestão e Saúde ColetivaMestre em Gestão e Saúde Coletiv

Dynamics of curved thin-walled composite beams: uncertainty quantification due to randomly distributed thermal/hygroscopic aspects

In this paper we analyze the dynamic behavior of curved thin walled composite beams considering hygroscopic and thermal effects in the constitutive equations. A model of curved thin walled beam is employed as the basis for deterministic calculations which are performed in the context of finite element approaches. This model takes into account shear deformation due to bending and non-uniform torsion, also it incorporates the effect of hygro-thermal stresses and strains in the classical way, however considering them as uncertain due to the randomness associated with the material of the matrix resin (normally sensitive to the absorption of humidity) while the composite beam is constructed or while the structure is under service. The variability of the stiffness and mass properties of the composite beam is assumed as a random field along the structure taking into account the elastic coupling between bending, twisting, shear and axial motions together with the thermal and hygroscopics terms. The probabilistic model is constructed appealing to the Maximum Entropy Principle in order to derive the marginal probability density functions, according to increasing levels of entropy, i.e. with less number of constraints or less information. The analysis is performed in the frequency domain and the buckling loads by comparing the probabilistic models with different levels of information (i.e., given the mean and/or the bounds, etc.) with previously developed probabilistic approaches such as the ones with parametric uncertainty. Also the Entropy of the response is evaluated in order to quantify the propagation of uncertainty in the information of the model. A number of different hygroscopic sensitive composites are evaluated and the dynamic response of the structure constructed with them is compared with the homonymous case of a perfectly dry specimen of the same volumetric fraction of reinforcement.Publicado en: Mecánica Computacional vol. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEARNING ORIENTATION AND INNOVATION

    Get PDF
There has been a growing interest for the learning process in the organizational context, stimulated by the perception that learning and innovation are essential for survival in competitive and dynamic environments. In spite of the number of specific publications on innovation and organizational learning, there is still an empirical gap in combining the issues together. This article investigates the relationship between innovation and organizational learning, considering the construct of learning orientation and its three dimensions: (i) commitment to learning; (ii) shared vision; and (iii) open-mindedness. A theoretical model describing the hypothetical relationships among these constructs was developed and tested using the structural equation modeling technique. The research was applied in the Brazilian Electro-Electronic Industry. Results show an appropriate adjustment of the investigated structural model, which indicates an influence of the learning orientation over the products innovation, and possibly over the competitive advantage in companies involved in learning processes. The results mainly show that the open-mindedness dimension has a stronger relationship with innovation. It indicates that an open-mindedness attitude, associated to the unlearning concept, stimulates the creation of new products and discontinuity of market standards

Inconsistencies in Sustainability Reports – The Case Suzano

This paper aims to highlight the inconsistencies of the Sustainability Report Suzano in 2009 and 2010. From an analysis of documents about the 30 environmental indicators contained in the report, a comparison is made ??of this information to model the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), showing the degree of commitment and truthfulness in regard to environmental indicators adopted by the company. We have detected that there are differences in level of service indicators reported by the company, and are noticeable errors involving the values ??that quantified the materials used in production without any notification that it was evident to clarify the reason for the differences observed, implying that their reports do not have a degree of reliability desired. Similar studies are needed to ascertain whether the fact discovered through this research is a common practice involving the Sustainability Reports point or situation. Keywords: Environmental Accounting, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainable Development, Corporate Social Responsibility, Industry.
