OBJECTIVE: Describe the processes of translation to the Portuguese language and cultural adaptation of the Postpartum Learning Needs (PLN) to the Portuguese context. METHOD: Methodological study of an instrument that was constructed and validated in Jordan. Here are presented the procedures referring to linguistic, semantic and cultural validation, involving the stages of translation from English to European Portuguese, synthesis of translations, back-translation to the original language, expert committee, and pre-testing. RESULTS: In the translation process, some vocabulary variations were solved through consensus among translators. The expert committee found that the version translated to Portuguese presented semantic, idiomatic, cultural and conceptual equivalence, while needing some adjustments. Pre-testing was applied to 45 adolescent mothers, of whom 86.6% considered the items comprehensible. CONCLUSION: Semantic, idiomatic, cultural and conceptual equivalences were conceptually satisfactory among questionnaire versions, which is relevant for the Portuguese culture and easily understandable. It is crucial to assess the psychometric properties of the questionnaire so its adapted version can be made available. Conclusão: Houve equivalências semântica, idiomática, cultural e concetual satisfatórias entre as versões do questionário, o qual é pertinente à cultura portuguesa e facilmente compreensÃvel.

Actions and reactions to obstetric violence: a qualitative study about waterbirth
This text is part of a research carried out between 2015 and 2016 aimed to investigate the social representations developed by women who gave birth in water about this type of birth. This is a qualitative study carried out with women who experienced waterbirth in a public and private hospital in Portugal. This article is part of this research, seeking to focus on an important theme seized in this investigation: obstetric violence. We seek to discuss the forms of obstetric violence present in the reports of women who have experienced waterbirth. Methodologically, the research was qualitative, using the snowball technique for access to participants and interviews with them. As a result, the existence of resistance and reactions of women is highlighted who, by naming the practices of obstetric violence, including disrespect in the birth scenario, sought to break in different ways with the asymmetry of the relationship with the child health professional, either by silencing and seeking contact with another professional in the care relationship or by denying the impositions to which they were submitted

Perinatal mental health counselling programme: A scoping review
Objective: To map the evidence on a Perinatal Mental Health Counselling Programme, identifying its characteristics,
participants, and outcomes.
Methods: This review followed the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute and PRISMA-ScR. Published and
unpublished studies, from 2011 to 2021, written in English, Portuguese or Spanish were included.
Results: Despite the high number of articles identified, only nine articles were included in the final analysis,
mainly from Iran, Italy and one Portuguese study. All articles referred to community health care centres and
hospitals. The sessions varied between 6 and 16 and lasted 30–90 min. The method used was either individual
and/or group, with weekly or monthly sessions or whenever deemed necessary throughout the evaluation.

facilitators.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The Use of Birth Plan to Support Waterbirth: A Qualitative Approach
Background: The professional resistance to childbirth in water and the limitation of robust scientific evidence to support its safety constitute a context prone to the restriction of women’s freedom of choice. The elaboration of the birth plan by pregnant women who wish to experience a birth immersed in water can be an important instrument for the exercise of their choice and autonomy. This qualitative and descriptive case study aim to realize how women experienced their birth plan in two hospitals in Portugal. Results: Face-to-face and videoconferencing interviews were conducted with sixteen women witch speeches were recorded, transcribed, and submitted to content analysis, with the support of NVivo software. The mainly characteristics of the participants were: 76% had a higher level of schooling; 66% lived in a stable union with a partner; 66,7% were nulliparous; 100% were informed and prepared during prenatal sessions about waterbirth and made their birth plan with those sessions; 100% were at term gestation at the time of birth; 100% were referred for immersion in hot water during labour; after birth, all the newborns had Aqua Apgar index between 9 and 10 in the first minute and 10 in the fifth minute. The qualitative analysis allowed to identification of three thematic categories: Legitimising women’s choices; Professional resistance and the devaluation of the birth plan: triggers of violence; and, Complete birth plan success. Conclusion: The data showed that birth plan represented a legitimator of women´s choices for experiencing waterbirth, although some of them perceived disregard and disrespect of the plan by health professionals, especially in a context of technocratic model of care. It was found that the birth plan represented a transcendence of the experience of labour and birth, enabling women to experience their choices with fullness, freedom, and specially respect.</p
