The presence of shrubyacidophilous communities, in Valencia region, belonging to the phytosociological alliance Cistion laurifolii, is studied. Notas sobre el complejo taxon贸mico Cardamine flexuosa With.
aspectos nomenclaturales, taxon贸micos, corol贸gicos y ecol贸gicos referentes a
First record of Cardamine flexuosa With. s. str. from the Valencian Community and first record of Cardamine flexuosa subsp. debilis O. E. Schulz from the Province of Valencia, both
placed at Eastern Spain, are reported. Some nomenclatural, taxonomic, chorological
and ecological aspects reporting both taxa are reviewed, as well as those related to
Cardamine hirsuta L., a morphologically very similar species. A dichotomous key
to identify and separate these three taxa is proposed. The introduction way of the alien
species C. flexuosa s.l. is suggested and an evaluation of the status as a possible
potential invasive species is made
Centaurea X sanchisiana nothosp. nov. (Asteraceae), a new hibrid for the iberian flora
Es descriu un nou h铆brid del g猫nere Centaurea L. (Asteraceae) producte de l'encreuament entre C. Aspera L. i C. bofilliana Sennen ex Devesa & E. L贸pez, C. x sanchisiana nothosp. nov., a m茅s de dues noves notovarietats, Var. malvarosae i var. pectiniformis. Aquestos h铆brids han estat localitzats a Alatoz i Casas de Ves (Albacete, Espanya) i Borriana (Castell贸, Espanya) respectivament. Es proposa una nova notosecci贸 Calciseridia R. L贸pez, C. x sanchisiana, nothosp. nov., and two new nothovarieties, var. ma/varosae and varo pectiniformis are described. These hybrids were found respectively in Alatoz and Casas de Ves (Albacete, Spain), and Borriana (Castell贸n, Spain). The plant descriptions and diagnosis, as well as iconography and the table showing the main diagnostic characters to distinguish them from both parentals and two morphologycally similar taxa are provided. New nothospecies's reproductive traits related to the involucre and pollen are compared with those of C. x pouzinii De. A new nothosection Calciseridia R. Rosell贸 et al., nothosect. nov., is proposed
It is shown some data about rare taxa of Orchidaceae at the Valencian Community (E Spain) or expansions of area to new shires; to emphasize the presence of Ophrys santonica and O. 脳 pseudospeculum in Alicante
Pre- and Post-Zygotic Barriers Contribute to Reproductive Isolation and Correlate with Genetic Distance in <i>Cucumis</i>
Hybridization between Cucumis species, including cultivated melon (C. melo), is hampered by Interspecific Reproductive Barriers (IRBs). However, the nature of IRBs in Cucumis is largely unknown. This study explores locations, timing, and contribution to reproductive isolation (RI) of pre- and post-zygotic IRBs in Cucumis. To do this, we assessed crossability among Cucumis African wild species and C. melo at the pre-zygotic level by visualizing pollen tubes under fluorescence microscopy and, post-zygotically, by evaluating fruit/seed set and F1 hybrid fertility. Genetic distances among Cucumis species were inferred from Genotyping-by-Sequencing, and its correlation with RI stages was analyzed. Observed pre- and post-zygotic IRBs included pollen tube arrest, fruit set failure, and hybrid male sterility. Unilateral cross-incongruity/incompatibility (UCI) was detected in some hybridizations, and dominant gene action is suggested for pistil-side UCI in interspecific F1 hybrids. Notably, the allotetraploid C. ficifolius was very fertile as a seed parent but infertile in all reciprocal crosses. Contribution to RI was found significant for both pre- and post-zygotic IRBs. Additionally, a significant positive correlation was detected between genetic distance and pre- and post-zygotic RI stages. Interestingly, UCI offers an accessible system to dissect the genetics of IRBs in Cucumis, which may facilitate the use of wild relatives in breeding
