The combined action of binase and bleomycin on human lung adenocarcinoma cells
Β© 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Some microbial ribonucleases (RNases) demonstrate selective cytotoxic effect against a wide range of tumor cells. In this context combined use of cytotoxic RNases in complex therapy with other chemotherapeutic agents appears to be especially promising. In this study we have investigated the apoptosisinduced effect of Bacillus pumilus RNase (binase) in combination with known antitumor antibiotic bleomycin on human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. The combined effect of high concentrations of these agents did not have any mutual increase in their apoptosisinduced action, while a combination of nonapoptotic concentrations resulted in the increase of proportion of apoptotic cells up to 22% as compared with individual effect of bleomycin (6%) and binase (12%) used separately. These results indicate that binase and bleomycin are effective in combination of their low concentrations and ineffective in combination of their high concentrations
The usage of a binder system for frozen berries in the manufacture of confectionery
The aim of the research was to create binding systems for confectionery using gelling
agents. The possibility of using partially hydrolyzed liquid egg white (egg hydrolyzate) in the
binding system of gelling agents (egg hydrolyzate - agar (EG-A), egg hydrolyzate - starch
(EG-S)) was determined to obtain the required mechanical characteristics when creating coatings,
ornaments or fillers in confectionery with whole berries or pieces of fruit. In this regard, a
technology has been developed for the hydrolysis of liquid egg white in the presence of an acidic
reagent. The best rheological characteristics of the gelling agent from egg white were obtained
under the following hydrolysis conditions: egg white : 1% HCl ratio = 1:2, process temperature -
66Β°C, duration - 40 minutes, the pH of the egg hydrolyzate was 6.53, the amount of dry solids
was 11.78%. The newly created systems with agar (E406, Germany), chemically modified food
starch (E1442, Germany) and hydrolyzed egg white (egg hydrolyzate) allow to adjust the
properties of the coating for quick-frozen berries used in semi-finished confectionaries or cakes.
It is established that the coating for quick-frozen berries, which includes a system consisting of
1% E406 and 0.5% egg hydrolyzate, should be carried out in 2 stages. In the first stage, a
10-minute exposure of the coating, which has a tensile strength of 580 g cm-2
, allows to create a
strong capsule around the berry, which prevents the processes of destruction from proceeding.
The second stage is necessary to obtain a uniform surface coating of the semi-finished mix from
the berries. In this case, the tensile strength of the coating should be 480 g cm-2
. The system
created from the E1442 and egg hydrolyzate gelling agents was also used in 2 stages when making
cakes, which were subsequently baked at 180 Β°C. The content of the binding system in the coating
applied to the test substrate was 6.9β7.7%, the effective viscosity of the coating was
120β180 Pa s. The content of the binding system in the coating of the surface of the berries in the
second stage was 5.2β6.3% with effective viscosity values of 50β90 Pa s. Semi-finished berry
products and ready-made baked cakes, produced with developed binding systems, can be stored
at -8 Β°C for 10 to 12 days. After refrigerated storage, the separated moisture was not observed in
the test samples. The absence of the phenomenon of syneresis with the indicated proportions of
the introduction of gelling agents in coating systems has been established

From transformation to chronification of migraine : pathophysiological and clinical aspects
Chronic migraine is a neurological disorder characterized by 15 or more headache days per month of which at least 8 days show typical migraine features. The process that describes the development from episodic migraine into chronic migraine is commonly referred to as migraine transformation or chronification. Ample studies have attempted to identify factors associated with migraine transformation from different perspectives. Understanding CM as a pathological brain state with trigeminovascular participation where biological changes occur, we have completed a comprehensive review on the clinical, epidemiological, genetic, molecular, structural, functional, physiological and preclinical evidence available
Determination of water content in clay and organic soil using microwave oven
The article deals with the techniques of soil water content determination using microwave radiation. Its practical application would allow solving the problems of resource efficiency in geotechnical survey due to reduction of energy and resource intensity of laboratory analysis as well as its acceleration by means of decreasing labour intensity and, as a result, cost reduction. The article presents a detail analysis of approaches to soil water content determination and soil drying, considers its features and application. The study in soil of different composition, typical for Western Siberia including organic and organic-mineral ones, is a peculiarity of the given article, which makes it rather topical. The article compares and analyzes the results of the investigation into soil water content, which are obtained via conventional techniques and the original one developed by the authors, consisting in microwave drying. The authors also give recommendation on microwave technique application to dry soil

In this study we genotyped polymorphism Thr12Ser (rs1937) in TFAM gene in two groups: patients with coronary artery disease and control group (people from Tomsk population). For genotyping was used restriction fragment length polymorphism. We have found significant higher genotype CC frequency in men with coronary artery disease β 4.52% compared with control men β 0.45% (Ο2Β =Β 6.315; ΡΒ =Β 0.043; ORΒ =Β 10.45). Thus genotype CC is associated with coronary artery disease in men fromTomsk population.ΠΡΠΎΠ°Π½Π°Π»ΠΈΠ·ΠΈΡΠΎΠ²Π°Π½ΠΎ ΡΠ°ΡΠΏΡΠ΅Π΄Π΅Π»Π΅Π½ΠΈΠ΅ Π³Π΅Π½ΠΎΡΠΈΠΏΠΎΠ² ΠΈ Π°Π»Π»Π΅Π»Π΅ΠΉ ΠΏΠΎΠ»ΠΈΠΌΠΎΡΡΠ½ΠΎΠ³ΠΎ Π²Π°ΡΠΈΠ°Π½ΡΠ° Thr12Ser (rs1937) Π³Π΅Π½Π° TFAM Π² Π²ΡΠ±ΠΎΡΠΊΠ΅ Π»ΠΈΡ, Π±ΠΎΠ»ΡΠ½ΡΡ

New literacy challenge for the twenty-first century: genetic knowledge is poor even among well educated
We live in an age of rapidly advancing genetic research. This research is generating new knowledge that has implications for personal health and well-being. The present study assessed the level of genetic knowledge and personal engagement with genetics in a large sample (N = 5404) of participants. Participants received secondary education in 78 countries, with the largest samples from Russia, the UK and the USA. The results showed significant group differences in genetic knowledge between different countries, professions, education levels and religious affiliations. Overall, genetic knowledge was poor. The questions were designed to assess basic genetic literacy. However, only 1.2% of participants answered all 18 questions correctly, and the average score was 65.5%. Genetic knowledge was related to peoplesβ attitudes towards genetics. For example, those with greater genetic knowledge were on average more willing to use genetic knowledge for their personal health management. Based on the results, the paper proposes a number of immediate steps that societies can implement to empower the public to benefit from everadvancing
genetic knowledge
Hypertension control during the COVID-19 pandemic: results of the MMM2021 in Russia
Repetitive quarantines and social restrictions during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have negatively affected the population health in general, and the control of hypertension (HTN) in particular.Aim. To evaluate the control of HTN in the Russian population during the COVID-19 period based on the results of screening for HTN May Measurement Month 2021 (MMM2021).Material and methods. During May-August 2021, 2491 participants from 11 Russian regions took part in the screening. Participation was voluntary without restrictions on sex. All participants were over 18 years of age. During the screening, blood pressure (BP) was measured three times using automatic and mechanical BP monitors. In addition, a questionnaire was filled out on behavioral risk factors, comorbidities and therapy. HTN was diagnosed with systolic BP β₯140 mmHg and/ or diastolic blood pressure β₯90 mmHg and/or taking antihypertensive therapy. The questionnaire included questions about prior COVID-19, vaccinations and their impact on the intake of antihypertensive drugs.Results. The analysis included data from 2461 respondents aged 18 to 92, of which 963 were men (39,1%). The proportion of hypertensive patients was 41,0%, while among them 59,0% took antihypertensives and 30,9% were effectively treated. In comparison with pre-pandemic period according to MMM2018-2019, the higher proportion of HTN patients in the Russian sample was revealed during MMM2021 (41,0% vs 31,3%, p<0,001) with a comparable proportion of patients receiving antihypertensive therapy (60,7% vs 59,0%, p=0,05) and treatment efficacy (28,7% vs 30,9%, p=0,36). Monotherapy was received in 44,7% of cases, while dual and triple combination therapy β in 30,9% and 14,1%, respectively. The majority of respondents (~90%) did not adjust their antihypertensive therapy during the COVID-19 pandemic.Conclusion. According to HTN screening in Russia, there is persistent ineffective control of HTN, which may be due to both the worsening pattern of behavioral risk factors, limited access to healthcare during COVID-19, and the inertia of physicians and low adherence of patients due to the asymptomatic HTN course in the majority
