The Response of Ribbed Panels to Reverberant Acoustic Fields

A statistical method for estimating the response of ribbed panels to acoustic excitation is discussed. It is shown that the acceleration spectrum of the vibrational field is related to the pressure spectrum by a coupling factor which is a simple function of the radiation and mechanical resistance of the structure. The radiation resistance of a ribbed panel is studied as a function of frequency. The analysis predicts that ribbing increases the radiation resistance of the panel and hence its coupling to the acoustic field. The effect of various panel-rib boundary conditions is also considered. The results of experiments which were conducted to test the theory are reported. The agreement between theory and experiments is shown to be satisfactory

At the level of international legal regulation disability policy is currently one of the priority areas. However, such attention to the international legal protection of the rights of persons with disabilities has not always been the case, as the problems of persons with disabilities have long remained unnoticed by the international community. Rare attempts to improve the situation with persons with disabilities were usually limited to medical protection and integration into the labor market, while the task of their full and actual involvement in public life was not even set. The article analyzes the preconditions, reasons and features of the evolution of the system of international legal protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as examines the transformation of approaches to defining the concept of "disability" at the level of international law. The article defines the main stages of the formation of international cooperation in the field of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. The article presents the results of the analysis of international legal documents on disability policy for the period from the beginning of the twentieth century to 2020.На уровне международно-правового регулирования политика в сфере инвалидности в настоящее время является одним из приоритетных направлений. Однако такое внимание к международно-правовому обеспечению прав лиц с инвалидностью было далеко не всегда, поскольку проблемы лиц с инвалидностью долгий период оставались незамеченными международным сообществом. Единичные попытки определенным образом улучшить положение людей с инвалидностью сводились обычно к медицинской защите и интеграции на рынке труда, тогда как задачи по их полноценному и фактическому привлечению к общественной жизни даже не ставились. В статье анализируются предпосылки, причины и особенности эволюции системы международно-правовой защиты прав лиц с инвалидностью, а также исследуется трансформация подходов к определению понятия «инвалидность» на уровне международного права. Рассматриваются основные этапы становления международного сотрудничества в сфере защиты прав лиц с инвалидностью. Приводятся результаты анализа международно-правовых документов по политике в сфере инвалидности за период от начала ХХ по 2020 г.На рівні міжнародно-правового регулювання політика у сфері інвалідності наразі є одним із пріоритетних напрямків. Однак така увага до міжнародно-правового забезпечення прав осіб з інвалідністю була далеко не завжди, проблеми осіб з інвалідністю тривалий час залишалися непоміченими міжнародною спільнотою. Поодинокі спроби певним чином покращити становище осіб з інвалідністю зводилися зазвичай до медичного захисту та інтеграції на ринку праці, тоді як завдання щодо їх повноцінного і фактичного залучення до суспільного життя навіть не ставилося. У статті окреслено передумови, причини і особливості еволюції системи міжнародно-правового захисту прав осіб з інвалідністю, а також досліджено трансформацію підходів  до визначення поняття «інвалідність» на рівні міжнародного права. Розглянуто основні етапи становлення міжнародного співробітництва у сфері захисту прав осіб з інвалідністю. Humanizing Love’s Duality: Anica Savić Rebac on Euripides’ Erôs

U doktorskoj disertaciji Predplatonska erotologija (1932) Anice Savić Rebac – čija je tema obilјežila život, rad, pa i smrt autorke – posebno mjesto ima Euripid, najmlađi od trojice velikana grčke tragedije. Nјemu je, zapravo, posvećeno čitavo jedno poglavlјe: „Strast i mudrost“. Prema Anici Savić Re bac, Euripid kao „pjesnik duše“ i „pjesnik antinomija“ staro dvojstvo nadlič nog i ličnog Erosa u potpunosti svodi na oblast duše i preoblikuje u kontrast duhovne/mudre/umjerene i strasne/bezumne/prekomjerne lјubavi. Autorka pozicionira Euripidovu misao kao Platonovu prethodnicu, tj. kao neophodni stepenik ka vrhuncu erotologije. U radu će se detalјnije prikazati pomenuti segmenti rasprave o Euripidovom Erosu. Naročita pažnja će biti data tvrđenju Anice Savić Rebac da je Euripidovo težište u plemenitoj, blagorodnoj lјubavi da bi se osvijetlili značaj i odlike njenih uvida, s obzirom na kritiku Euripida i savremeno izučavanje erosa u tragediji. Na osnovu uvidâ u ovo poglavlјe, pokazaće se autorkina širina u sagledavanju književnosti, njoj svojstvena perspektiva istorije ideja, naročito važna mjesta analize i poente, i ukazati na mjesta na kojima bi buduća naučna pregnuća mogla nastaviti. Kao posebno inspirativno mjesto u tekstu ispostaviće se autorkin fokus na Laodamiji iz Euripidove izgublјene drame Protesilaj.Euripides, the youngest of the three great Greek tragedians, has a special place in Anica Savić Rebac’s 1932 doctoral thesis, Pre-Platonic Erotology. Indeed, the theme of the thesis marked her life, work, and even death, and an entire chapter of the thesis, “Passion and Wisdom,” is dedicated to him. According to Rebac, Euripides as a “poet of the soul” and a “poet of antinomies” completely reduces the old duality of suprapersonal and personal Eros to the realm of the soul and transforms it into a contrast between spiritual / wise / moderate and passionate / mindless / excessive love. Th e author positions Euripides’ thought as the predecessor of Plato’s, i.e. as a necessary step towards the pinnacle of erotology. Th is paper presents in more detail the above mentioned segments of the discussion on Euripides’ Eros, with particular attention paid to Rebac’s claim that Euripides focuses on noble, loft y love, in order to shed light on the signifi cance and characteristics of her insights, given the criticism of Euripides and the contemporary study of Eros in tragedy. Based on the insights in this chapter, the author’s breadth in understanding literature, her inherent perspective on the history of ideas, especially important focuses of analysis and points, will be highlighted, and areas where future academic eff orts could continue will be indicated. Este proyecto consiste en el diseño, implementación y testing de una parte de un videojuego en 3D que hemos llamado Brave//Soulless, desarrollado sobre un motor estándar en la industria de los videojuegos: Unity3D. El objetivo del proyecto es la creación de un prototipo de videojuego en el cual probar las mecánicas de juego tales como combate con entidades controladas por una inteligencia artificial, movimiento en un escenario 3D y el accionar interruptores que abran nuevos caminos para el jugador.This proyect consists on designing, implementing and testing a part of Brave//Soulless, a 3D videogame developed with Unity3D, an engine that's become standard in the videogame industry. The project's objective is to create a videogame prototype in which to test the gameplay mechanics such as fighting against AI-controlled entities, movement in a 3D environment and interacting with switches that open new paths for the player to take.Aquest projecte consisteix en el disseny, implementació i testing d'una part d'un videojoc en 3D que hem anomenat Brave // Soulless, desenvolupat sobre un motor estàndard en la indústria dels videojocs: Unity3D. Моћни и узнемиравајући додир: прибјегарство и род у Еурипидовој Хекаби

This paper proposes a reading of two episodes of Hecubaʼs supplication in Euripidesʼ drama Hecuba. I am hoping to show that the female protagonist Hecuba, when begging for mercy, uses the ritual potential of the supplication act, while the two male characters secularize the primarily ritual act, with the result of escaping from it. The dramatized rite of supplication can serve for examination of normative engagements in the sphere of religious issues and gender roles, and the relationship between speech and gesture on stage. I am examining some aspects of the supplication rite and analysing chosen sections of the dramatic text, with the goal of mapping them within the coordinates of ritual/secularized, gestures/words, female/male.Овај рад анализира динамику између покрета и ријечи у Еурипидовој трагедији Хекаба кроз призму родних улога и у контексту Гулдове школе ритуалистичког приступа прибјегарског обреда, са фокусом на покрете који омогућавају тјелесни контакт између молиоца и мољеног. Кроз ову анализу или „читање“, намјера ми је да покажем да се конкретна сфера покрета и додира, тј. обредни и тјелесни слој прибјегарског чина, подудара са дјелањем женских ликова на позорници (док се неухватљива сфера ријечи и реторике подудара са дјелањем мушких ликова). Прибјегарски обредни покрети обујмљивања кољена, додиривања стопала, руку и браде, веома су упадљиви и успостављени прилично интиман физички контакт (какав се ријетко дешава јавно и на позорници) омогућава спектакуларне тренутке емотивно експресивних изведби. Будући да је тренутак драматизованог прибјегарског покрета који омогућује додир својеврстан примјер глумчевог коришћења његовог тијела, онда овакав приступ проучавању ритуалног прибјегарског говора тијела може бити користан прилог дебати перформанс–текст, макар у оквирима античког позоришта. На нивоу родних улога и атинских идеолошких норми, у предложеном читању налазим да након што мушкарци избјегну или проневјере одговорност која иде уз позицију моћи и побјегну у (фа)логоцентричну сферу аргументисања, реторике и демагогије, протагонисткиња Хекаба и Тројанке збирно „узимају правду у своје руке“ и врше одмазду у складу са женским хтонским принципом Еринија, који претходи патријархалном и логоцентричном полисном уређењу и олимпском поретку

Kernos 32/2019 is devoted to the memory of the prominent intellectual, scholar, and professor Marcel Detienne. His contribution to the European and world Humanities and historical and comparative anthropology is immense. Detienne’s input towards a renewed history and non-idealized approach to Greek civilization, against the absolute rationality and against the nationalist and identity ideologies sought in the Greek models of autochthony is diligently built throughout all his books and throughout his efforts to establish the academic dialogue. Removing the dust off the Greek matters, he found something more thrilling – because it was more truthful – then the worn-out “Greek miracle”
