Shopping is all about marketing and presentation of merchandise. High Fashion Brands study the market and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on advertising to create a mood or presentation of a certain concept, hoping that the customers will end up buying their products. These carefully considered campaigns aspire to raise an emotional state that lingers long after the purchase is finalized.  A good example; is the budget American shoe brand “Payless” that wanted to raise its profile for the past holiday season, as it decided to play a prank and mimic the approach taken by high-end designer stores, even though only for a few days [The National, Dec, 2, 2018].  As the Payless shoes pranks social-media influencers with fake high-end brand Palessi (1).  As the budget store posed as a fictional designer Italian label for six days, that proved that customers are psychologically affected by the display, and merchandising layout, location, and can change their perspective about the product accordingly.  This research paper is going to investigate the psychology behind the relationship between High Fashion brands’ image and customer’s behavior, and how this relationship can affect the customer’s choices and buying habits. &nbsp

Background: Tracheotomy is a common procedure, which can induce late and serious complications, such as tracheoarterial fistulae and tracheal stenosis. The tracheal narrowing may occur due to the wrong technique at the time of tracheotomy. In this case report, we aimed to present a rare post-tracheotomy tracheal narrowing during total laryngectomy. Case presentation: The patient was a 62-year-old man with a history of smoking and 6-month hoarseness. At the time of the first surgery, direct laryngoscopy had revealed a large exophytic ulcerative mass of epiglottis and pre-epiglottic space with an extra-laryngeal extension. During laryngectomy and after the removal of the larynx, an abnormal coronal thick membrane was found in the caudal part of the specimen with significant tracheal narrowing. Discussion: There are different types of incisions that can be made for tracheotomy tube insertion, such as horizontal, vertical, T-shaped, and H-shaped incisions, as well as resection of a small section of the tracheal ring to create a window. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Conclusion: Although it seems that the tracheal narrowing was due to the inverted portion of the tracheal flap during the previous tracheotomy, which was an accidental finding, however, it necessitates a proper evaluation of the tracheal incision types for tracheotomy

Background: The illegal production of alcoholic beverages, due to the non-standard conditions, increases the risk of producing counterfeit and toxic products. The chemical analysis of toxic components in illegally-produced alcoholic beverages is necessary for each country. The present study aimed to identify the existence of methanol and other potentially toxic compounds in the seized illegally-produced alcoholic beverages. Methods: In this descriptive laboratory-based study, we analyzed the toxic chemical components in sized illegally-produced alcoholic beverages, submitted to the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory of the Legal Medicine Center of Markazi Province, Arak City, Iran, in a year. A total of 100 seized illegally-produced alcohol beverage samples were collected. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of ethanol, methanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, and acetone was performed by the Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detection (GC–FID) method. Results: Methanol was detected in 6% of the evaluated samples (concentration range:1.2%-12%v/v). Acetone was detected in two of the studied samples (mean concentration: 0.7%v/v), and 2-propanol with a concentration of 0.5%v/v was found in one sample. Besides, ethanol was detected in all explored samples (mean concentration: 24%v/v). Conclusion: Methanol was the main toxic chemical component in illegal alcoholic beverages; thus, it should be considered in public health policy and prevention programs in the country

On March 5, 2020 retailers' top priority has been the global spread of COVID-19 in recent weeks, which had a direct effect on the health and safety of their workers and customers.  Those concerns early in the year steered many retailers, to close their stores within China and constrain employee travel. Several weeks later, the virus has reached the U.S and other countries outside China, with 93,000 cases tracked worldwide as of March 4, 2020 according to the World Organization.  Many details about the disease, which has flu-like symptoms remain unknown, and health officials are still investigating how far and for how long it might spread. But as more cases of the disease have been reported globally, problems for the retail industry have materialized. For mass merchants like Walmart, the virus could have positive effects, since they are sources of groceries and disease-fighting essentials that consumers.  However, the luxury retail market has suffered tremendously.   One of the biggest signs of the industry's response has been the closure of fashion weeks. and many Luxury houses have closed their stores and canceled their shows.  This Research paper will investigate the crisis of COVID -19 and its influence on the luxury retail market particularly

Plants are a rich source of phenolic compounds and one of the most important nature-based antioxidants. The compounds derived from plant-based extracts are an important pharmaceutical resource. This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant activity and total phenolic and flavonoid content, and to investigate the antibacterial effects of Stachys lavandulifolia flowering shoots extract. In this study, S. lavandulifolia was gathered from Isfahan and extracted by maceration using ethanol 70%. Total phenol content was measured by Folin-Ciocalcteu reagent and gallic acid standard, and antioxidant activity was investigated by DPPH with reference to butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). Antibacterial effects were investigated by Broth Microdilution and minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration were determined. The effects of different concentrations of S. lavandulifolia were investigated on Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis by disk diffusion with reference to vancomycin and nitrofurantoin. The findings demonstrated that the inhibition of DPPH free radicals was greater by hydroalcoholic S. aureus extract than BHT, and therefore the IC50 of this extract was lower than BHT. Total phenolic content was obtained 18.61 (mg gallic acid) and the flavonol and flavonoid content was obtained 2.42 and 8.93 mg/g, respectively. In this study, investigating the effects of different concentrations of hydroalcoholic S. lavandulifolia extract on pathogenic bacteria by disk diffusion and Broth Microdilution demonstrated that this extract exerted great inhibitory effects on both bacteria. S. aureus was more susceptible to S. lavandulifolia extract than E. faecalis

Background: Human Rights (HRs) framework supports improving human health status and the reduction of health inequalities through action on Social Determinants of Health (SDH). Given the shortcoming of HRs to protect the children, the question is, how can we ensure child protection and well-being rather than just child health? Methods: In this conceptual analysis study, first, we explain the fundamental rights of the child and the steering role of them in moving towards health equity through action on SDH; second, meanwhile argue the shortcoming of rights-based protection, provide a list of the core capabilities and corresponding rights of the child; and third, we represent a conceptual framework for child protection and well-being using both HRs norms and moral entitlements based on recent ethical theories of justice, with a preventive approach. Results: According to the framework, HRs instruments should lead to the protection of the child and the development of core capabilities through addressing social determinants and providing equal opportunities, of which the ability to live a healthy life is just one. In addition, actualizing these capabilities depends on the context. Since achieving well-being rather than just the health, in addition to acquiring the core capabilities as states of beings, implies their function as doings, that requires considering the socioecological context to provide means necessary to meet the essential dimensions of well-being at the level of adequacy. Conclusion: Implementing the suggested framework requires that each country create a national action framework and determine the role and duties of the responsible organizations

Deep Learning for Network Traffic Monitoring and Analysis (NTMA): A Survey

    Get PDF
Modern communication systems and networks, e.g., Internet of Things (IoT) and cellular networks, generate a massive and heterogeneous amount of traffic data. In such networks, the traditional network management techniques for monitoring and data analytics face some challenges and issues, e.g., accuracy, and effective processing of big data in a real-time fashion. Moreover, the pattern of network traffic, especially in cellular networks, shows very complex behavior because of various factors, such as device mobility and network heterogeneity. Deep learning has been efficiently employed to facilitate analytics and knowledge discovery in big data systems to recognize hidden and complex patterns. Motivated by these successes, researchers in the field of networking apply deep learning models for Network Traffic Monitoring and Analysis (NTMA) applications, e.g., traffic classification and prediction. This paper provides a comprehensive review on applications of deep learning in NTMA. We first provide fundamental background relevant to our review. Then, we give an insight into the confluence of deep learning and NTMA, and review deep learning techniques proposed for NTMA applications. Finally, we discuss key challenges, open issues, and future research directions for using deep learning in NTMA applications.publishedVersio

Moral challenges of research on embryos in pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and IVF

    Get PDF
Purposes of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) include screening for single gene mutations for late onset disorders or susceptibility to cancer. The problematic issue is that PGD is to produce a healthy baby, causing the destruction of some embryos that have been transferred by in vitro fertilization (IVF). Some PGD embryos may be discarded because they are excess to the woman or couples’ goal for family creation, and have been diagnosed as being affected by a particular genetic condition that woman/couple wish to avoid. So, the controversial issue is the destruction of embryos as a consequence of fertility treatment that raises questions on whether the moral status of an embryo of 3 days is the same as that of a born, living adult human being
