Metal oxides and its blended derivative’s coating for anti-corrosion application
9-17Thin film deposition by using different nanomaterials has been an efficient and reliable way for enhancing the anti-corrosive property of the materials as well as strength improvement such as hardness, conductivity and wear resistance. Various materials have been taken as substrates like mild steel, magnesium, Aluminum, Copper, Tin, Carbon steel with thin film coatings of Zn–TiO2, Ce/Co, Zn-HA/TiO2, CrN/TiN, Ni- Co have been sampled. These specimens have been studied for numerous properties like surface roughness, wear resistance, adhesion strength, microhardness, hydrophobicity etc. It has been found that the components like muffler, differential, engine chassis, exhaust system, gears do undergo corrosion due to several factors like climate change, oxidation, moisture content etc. The aim of the review has been to highlight the advances in the coatings providing anticorrosive properties to various metallic substrates used specially for mechanical and automobile industries
Use of thiopurines in inflammatory bowel disease : an update
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), once considered a disease of the Western hemisphere, has emerged as a global disease. As the disease prevalence is on a steady rise, management of IBD has come under the spotlight. 5-Aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents and biologics are the backbone of treatment of IBD. With the advent of biologics and small molecules, the need for surgery and hospitalization has decreased. However, economic viability and acceptability is an important determinant of local prescription patterns. Nearly one-third of the patients in West receive biologics as the first/initial therapy. The scenario is different in developing countries where biologics are used only in a small proportion of patients with IBD. Increased risk of reactivation of tuberculosis and high cost of the therapy are limitations to their use. Thiopurines hence become critical for optimal management of patients with IBD in these regions. However, approximately one-third of patients are intolerant or develop adverse effects with their use. This has led to suboptimal use of thiopurines in clinical practice. This review article discusses the clinical aspects of thiopurine use in patients with IBD with the aim of optimizing their use to full therapeutic potential.Peer reviewe
To Determine the Prevalence of Oral Mucosal Lesions and Their Association with Pattern of Tobacco
Aim: To determine the Prevalence of Oral mucosal lesions and their association with Pattern of tobacco. Methods: Following ethical approval, a descriptive, cross sectional research with 200 participants was done at the department of oral pathology. Individuals aged 16 and up who visited the research location and were consulted for wilful involvement in the study were included. Personal interviews were used to collect demographic information as well as tobacco use status utilising a selfdesigned proforma. Tobacco consumption habits were broadly classified into four categories based on the following criteria: smokers were those who reported daily or less than daily use of smoked form of tobacco without use of smokeless tobacco, whereas smokeless tobacco users were those who reported daily or less than daily use of smokeless tobacco without use of smoked form of tobacco. Individuals who used both forms throughout the research were classified as dual users, whereas those who never used tobacco or had a history of quitting one or both kinds were classified as nontobacco users. Results: The study population consisted of 100 people, 70 percent of whom were men and 30 percent of whom were females, with a mean age of 47.41 10.52 years

β decay of Mg36 and Al36: Identification of a β-decaying isomer in Al36
The level structure of Al36 has been studied via β decay of Mg36 at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) and the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL). A long-lived isomer in Al36 was identified which decays by β to an excited state of Si36. The ground state and the isomeric state of Al36 were found to populate different energy levels of Si36. The results from the two data sets in the present work complement each other. Configuration interaction calculations performed with the FSU shell-model Hamiltonians provide reasonable descriptions to the experimental observations and offer insight into future improvements of the theoretical interpretation
