This paper aims to demonstrate the micronutrients as an attractive alternative of innovation for Pharmaceutical Industries with limited resources. A case study of vitamin D as a pharmaceutical supplement is launched in the Brazilian Market. The results demonstrate that some opportunities of several new products for populations with nutritional deficiency—the so-called micronutrients for hidden hunger, that is any deficiency unnoticed where micronutrients assume metabolic functions in humans. This deficiency unnoticed lead to disease onset or an organism dysfunction. WHO estimate that more than 2 billion humans are affected by hidden hunger. Scientific studies show that these ills cause serious problems for pregnant women, elderly and children. Thus, the micronutrients in a normal diet comes up the news opportunities for pharmaceuticals industries as well as vitamin supplements. Pharmaceutical industry is the most innovative company in healthcare. Launcher a blockbuster as a new product through of radical innovation is so hard and with higher costs. In this sense, the micronutrients are an attractive alternative of innovation for pharmaceutical industries with limited financial resources. So, pharmaceutical supplements appear as an incremental innovation of known chemical substances

The definitive version was published in Oceanography 25, no. 2 (2012): 96-107, doi:10.5670/oceanog.2012.45.The off-shelf region between 16.0° and 16.5°N in the southern Red Sea is identified as a new hotspot for the occurrence of oceanic internal solitary waves. Satellite observations reveal trains of solitons that, surprisingly, appear to propagate from the center of the Red Sea, where it is deepest, toward the continental shelf, but they do not survive as coherent structures over the shelf. These solitons are characterized by coherent crest lengths exceeding 80 km and crest-to-crest distances of more than 2 km, compatible with signatures of large-amplitude solitary waves. Despite the fact that these Red Sea solitons have large amplitudes, they appear to be generated by very weak surface tides. Tidal current velocity is only about 5 cm s–1 over the shelf, much weaker than over other ocean shelves where similar solitary waves have been reported. The appearance of these waves over this particular geographical stretch suggests generation by a locally amplified internal tide on the main pycnocline. We consider three possible explanations for soliton generation in the Red Sea: interfacial tide resonance, local generation by internal tidal beams generated at the shelf breaks, and local generation by internal tidal beams generated at the shelf breaks but first amplified by repeated focusing reflections

Industry 4.0 aims to support smarter and autonomous processes while improving agility, cost efficiency, and user experience. To fulfill its promises, properly processing the data of the industrial processes and infrastructures is required. Artificial intelligence (AI) appears as a strong candidate to handle all generated data, and to help in the automation and smartification process. This article overviews the digital twin as a true embodiment of a cyber-physical system (CPS) in Industry 4.0, showing the mission of AI in this concept. It presents the key enabling technologies of the digital twin such as edge, fog, and 5G, where the physical processes are integrated with the computing and network domains. The role of AI in each technology domain is identified by analyzing a set of AI agents at the application and infrastructure levels. Finally, movement prediction is selected and experimentally validated using real data generated by a digital twin for robotic arms with results showcasing its potential. This work has been (partially) funded by the H2020 EU/TW joint action 5G-DIVE (Grant #859881) and the H2020 5Growth project (Grant #856709). Consumption, housing and financial wealth, asset returns, and monetary policy.

This work analyzes the linkages between consumption, housing and financial wealth, asset returns, and monetary policy. In Chapter I, I show, from the consumer's budget constraint, that the residuals of the trend relationship among consumption, financial wealth, housing wealth and labor income, cday, should better predict stock returns than a variable like cay from Lettau and Ludvigson (2001), and that this is due to: (i) the ability to track changes in the wealth composition; and (ii) the faster rate of convergence of the coefficients to the "long-run equilibrium" parameters. In Chapter II, I analyze the empirical relationship between wealth shocks and portfolio composition, and find evidence consistent with counter-cyclical risk aversion. I also show that: (i) there is no evidence of inertia; and (ii) time-variation in expectations about future returns partially explains changes in the risky asset share. In Chapter III, I show that monetary policy contractions have a large and negative impact on housing prices, although the reaction is extremely slow. On the contrary, the effect on stock markets is small and very quick. In Chapter IV, I analyze the importance of the risks for the long-run, and show that they explain a large fraction of the cross-sectional variation of average returns. I also find that the preference for a smooth path of consumption, a low intertemporal elasticity of substitution, and a high risk aversion, imply that agents demand large equity risk premia when they fear a reduction in economic prospects. In Chapter V, I investigate the role of three major sources of risk: future changes in the housing consumption share, cr, future labour income growth, Ir, and future consumption growth, Irc. I show that the predictability of many empirical proxies can be achieved without relying on a specific functional form for consumer's preferences

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop new boundary conditions for simulating the injection molding process of polymer melts. Design/methodology/approach The boundary conditions are derived and implemented to simulate real-life air vents (used to allow the air escape from the mold). The simulations are performed in the computational libraryOpenFOAM (R) by considering two different fluid models, namely, Newtonian and generalized Newtonian (Bird-Carreau model). Findings A detailed study on the accuracy of the solverinterFoamfor simulating the filling stage is presented, by considering simple geometries and adaptive mesh refinement. The verified code is then used to study the three-dimensional filling of a more complex geometry. Originality/value The results obtained showed that the numerical method is stable and allows one to model the filling process, simulating the real injection molding process. This work is funded by FEDER funds through the COMPETE 2020 Programme and National Funds through FCT (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology) under the projects UID-B/05256/2020, UID-P/05256/2020 and MOLDPRO-Aproximacoes multi-escala para moldacao por injecao de materiais plasticos (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016665).The research of L.L.
