A MORTE EM TRÊS TEMPOS: O INSTANTE IRREMEDIÁVEL DE DOM QUIXOTE, MADAME BOVARY E BRÁS CUBAS

Este trabalho pretendeu analisar o instante de morte de Dom Quixote, Madame Bovary e Brás Cubas. A partir dos momentos finais desses três famosos personagens da literatura mundial é possível refletir sobre suas vidas, mas, principalmente, sobre relações humanas, sociais e afetivas representadas na literatura. Desse modo, aquilo que o personagem vê, ouve e sente, bem como quem está com ele em seu momento final, oferece-nos material para que possamos compreender essa experiência única que é a morte. No pequeno intervalo de tempo que antecede a representação do fim, somos capazes de compreender a loucura, a culpa e as fraquezas morais dos personagens e com elas, também, as nossas, afinal, é na cumplicidade do diálogo com eles que damos passos incertos na busca de sentido de nossa própria existência

ELE TEM DOIS PAPAIS: AS NOVAS FAMÍLIAS NA LITERATURA INFANTIL CONTEMPORÂNEA

O presente texto busca discutir em que medida a literatura infantil contemporânea problematiza questões polêmicas, entre elas, a homossexualidade, tema atual no contexto social e na literatura, haja vista que é integrante direta das relações do homem e da sociedade e, desta maneira, tais questões não podem ser desconsideradas. Para tanto, tomaremos como ponto de partida a obra Meus dois pais, de Walcyr Carrasco, para tecer algumas considerações acerca dessa literatura infantil contemporânea e de sua importância no fomento à formação humana dentro e fora do espaço escolar, desmistificando conceito pré-estabelecidos e verdades padronizadas

Nesting Behaviour of a Neotropical Social Wasp Mischocyttarus saussurei Zikán, 1949 (Hymenoptera, Vespidae)

Mischocyttarus saussurei nests show a curious architectural pattern which could be related to colony camouflage. Since information on that species is scarce in literature, this study aimed to record ecological data on M. saussurei, as well as morphometric data on its nests. Data was collected at the Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca state park and at the municipalities of Barroso and Inconfidentes, Minas Gerais state, Southeastern Brazil. Seven colonies were located, exclusively in conserved environments. Five nests were dissected for morphometric analysis and for the assessment of the vegetal matter incorporated to comb walls. Nests showed comb cells opening towards the substrate and covered by vegetal layers, in which three families of mosses and three of liverworts could be identified. We deduct that the nests’ morphometry and the incorporation of vegetal layers to the combs are related to the camouflaging of colonies amidst their substrate

A masculinidade em Rosa

The term "toxic masculinity" is in vogue, however, in Brazilian literature, in the 60s it was already possible to find characters who questioned this male profile based on brute force, aggressiveness and the lack of feelings of affection and affection. Thus, in this work, we will make an analytical path about some of the characters created by João Guimarães Rosa, in Primeiras estórias, in order to see how this author already traced a delicate and, at the same time, deep questioning about the figure of man in society and that masculinity profile. Thus, several characters already provided us with indications of a plural masculinity, such as the one defended in our time.O termo “masculinidade tóxica” está em voga, contudo, na literatura brasileira, na década de 60 já era possível encontrar personagens que questionavam esse perfil masculino pautado na força bruta, na agressividade e na não demonstração de sentimentos de carinho e afeto. Desse modo, neste trabalho, faremos um percurso analítico acerca de alguns dos personagens criados por João Guimarães Rosa, em Primeiras estórias, a fim de constatar como esse autor mineiro já traçava um delicado e, ao mesmo tempo, profundo questionamento sobre a figura do homem em sociedade e desse perfil de masculinidade. Assim, percebe-se que vários personagens já nos forneciam indicativos de uma masculinidade plural, como a defendida em nossa época

Este trabalho teve o intuito de analisar o Poema da infância distante, de Noémia de Sousa, com base nos apontamentos, principalmente, de Octavio Paz (2015) e Antonio Candido (2011), a fim de perceber como a autora é capaz de, utilizando a figura da criança, da infância, criar um chamamento à luta contra o regime de opressão de forma praticamente singela. Além disso, fundamentados em Sartre (2004) e Said (2005), sobretudo, buscou-se relacionar a figura de Noémia como intelectual engajada de sua época, produzindo uma arte com função de denúncia social

Myiasis associated with an invasive ductal carcinoma of the left breast: case study

Most breast cancers originate in the ductal epithelium and are referred to as invasive ductal carcinoma. In this study we report on the clinical procedures adopted to diagnose myiasis in association with infiltrating metastatic breast carcinoma in a female patient. A 41 years old woman came to the Federal Hospital of Andaraí complaining of intense itching, warmth, redness and hardening of the breast, which had acquired the aspect of an orange peel. A lesion in the left breast was cavitated, dimpled, had fetid odor, and had fibrotic and infected air nodules filled with exudate and Dipteran larvae. The tissue was cleaned and 33 larvae were extracted. The patient was hospitalized and received Ivermectin. Eighteen of the larvae extracted from the patient were placed in 70% alcohol, and twelve were placed in a container with sterile wood shavings under controlled conditions until they metamorphosed into adults. The taxonomic identification of the flies revealed that the culprit was Cochliomyia hominivorax. A histopathological exam conducted three months earlier had revealed infiltrating ductal carcinoma. Two months after the myiasis treatment, the breast tissue had healed. The patient had waited ten days from the onset of the myiasis to seek treatment, and that delay interfered negatively in the prognosis of both the neoplasm and the myiasis. This study is relevant to public health in view of the strong social impact of myiasis

Social Wasps (Vespidae: Polistinae) from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

This study was developed aiming to compile data concerning the occurrence and distribution of social wasp species from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, as well as recording exclusive and rare species. For this purpose, we compiled studies from the specialized literature and created a table containing the species occurrence in the different states which present the phytogeographic domain. A total of 170 species was recorded, corresponding to almost a half of the richness of social wasps in Brazil, including 50 endemic, with highlight to Rio de Janeiro state, which nevertheless is insufficiently sampled. This way, from this work, it is concluded that Brazilian Atlantic Forest must be seen as an important refuge for Polistinae

Estimativa da evapotranspiração em áreas de pastagens usando algoritmo SEBAL e imagens Landsat 5 - TM

O conhecimento da perda total de água por evapotranspiração é essencial para o crescimento das plantas e avaliações de desenvolvimento. A informação de sensoriamento remoto tem sido usada por vários modelos e algoritmos para obter parâmetros da superfície da Terra. O SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithms for Land) é um algoritmo para estimativa de evapotranspiração em larga escala. Ele é processado por meio de etapas computacionais, que preveem uma avaliação completa da radiação solar e da energia na superfície da Terra. Para isso, utiliza dados de sensores que coletam comprimentos de onda nas bandas do visível, infravermelho próximo e termal. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estimar a evapotranspiração diária (ETdiária) em áreas de pastagem da Fazenda Experimental da Embrapa Gado de Corte, Campo Grande, MS, por meio do algoritmo SEBAL e cenas Landsat 5-TM. Para áreas de pastagens, a ETdiária variou de 0,50 a 3,50 mm d-1 com uma média de 1,90 mm d-1. De forma geral, a aplicação metodológica gerou resultados consistentes de ETdiária, sendo possível utilizá-la no como indicador das condições hídricas das pastagens, contribuindo para tomada de decisão que favoreça a produção da pecuária com sustentabilidade ambiental

Finding the origin of domestication of cupuaçu requires more than genomics

Colli-Silva et al.1 recently proposed that cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum) was domesticated in northwestern Amazonia as a selection from its sister species, cupuí (T. subincanum). This proposal ignores long-term research in taxonomy, botany, biogeography, and genetics about Theobroma, including cupuaçu. Our review of the research that was ignored and of Colli-Silva et al.’s results demonstrates that cupuaçu is a valid species, as they now agree2, but cupuí may be paraphyletic, the distribution of wild cupuaçu was not included in their samples so the origin of domestication continues unknown, precolonial archaeology lacks remains that can be attributed to either species, historical linguistics indicates that the term cupuaçu references the species’ wild distribution and is a recent introduction in northwestern Amazonia, history suggests that cupuaçu started to be domesticated during the last 100-200 years, and the genomics results are not about the domestication of cupuaçu because it is a valid species and its wild distribution was not sampled
