The Higgs decay rate to two photons in a model with two fermiophobic-Higgs doublets

We consider a three Higgs doublet model with an S3S_3 symmetry in which beside the SM-like doublet there are two fermiophobic doublets. Due to the new charged scalars there is an enhancement in the two-photon decay while the other channels have the same decay widths that the SM neutral Higgs. The fermiophobic scalars are mass degenerated unless soft terms breaking the S3S_3 symmetry are added.Comment: typos were corrected, the figures have been modified and the conclusions were increased. Kepler detection of a new extreme planetary system orbiting the subdwarf-B pulsator KIC10001893

KIC10001893 is one out of 19 subdwarf-B (sdB) pulsators observed by the Kepler spacecraft in its primary mission. In addition to tens of pulsation frequencies in the g-mode domain, its Fourier spectrum shows three weak peaks at very low frequencies, which is too low to be explained in terms of g modes. The most convincing explanation is that we are seeing the orbital modulation of three Earth-size planets (or planetary remnants) in very tight orbits, which are illuminated by the strong stellar radiation. The orbital periods are P1=5.273, P2=7.807, and P3=19.48 hours, and the period ratios P2/P1=1.481 and P3/P2=2.495 are very close to the 3:2 and 5:2 resonances, respectively. One of the main pulsation modes of the star at 210.68 {\mu}Hz corresponds to the third harmonic of the orbital frequency of the inner planet, suggesting that we see, for the first time in an sdB star, g-mode pulsations tidally excited by a planetary companion. The extreme planetary system that emerges from the Kepler data is very similar to the recent discovery of two Earth-size planets orbiting the sdB pulsator KIC05807616 (Charpinet et al. 2011a).Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysic

O Ciclo de Festas para São Benedito das Piabas

    Get PDF

Minimal extended flavor groups, matter fields chiral representations, and the flavor question

    Get PDF
We show the specific unusual features on chiral gauge anomalies cancellation in the minimal, necessarily 3-3-1, and the largest 3-4-1 weak isospin chiral gauge semisimple group leptoquark-bilepton extensions of the 3-2-1 conventional standard model of nuclear and electromagnetic interactions. In such models a natural explanation for the fundamental question of fermion generation replication arises from the self-consistency of a local gauge quantum field theory, which constrains the number of the QFD fermion families to the QCD color charges.Comment: 10 pages. <[email protected]

Complex Network Tools to Understand the Behavior of Criminality in Urban Areas

Complex networks are nowadays employed in several applications. Modeling urban street networks is one of them, and in particular to analyze criminal aspects of a city. Several research groups have focused on such application, but until now, there is a lack of a well-defined methodology for employing complex networks in a whole crime analysis process, i.e. from data preparation to a deep analysis of criminal communities. Furthermore, the "toolset" available for those works is not complete enough, also lacking techniques to maintain up-to-date, complete crime datasets and proper assessment measures. In this sense, we propose a threefold methodology for employing complex networks in the detection of highly criminal areas within a city. Our methodology comprises three tasks: (i) Mapping of Urban Crimes; (ii) Criminal Community Identification; and (iii) Crime Analysis. Moreover, it provides a proper set of assessment measures for analyzing intrinsic criminality of communities, especially when considering different crime types. We show our methodology by applying it to a real crime dataset from the city of San Francisco - CA, USA. The results confirm its effectiveness to identify and analyze high criminality areas within a city. Hence, our contributions provide a basis for further developments on complex networks applied to crime analysis.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, 14th International Conference on Information Technology : New Generation

Relationship between the DTA peak and phase diagram : symbiosis between a thermodynamic database and a DTA curve

The shape of a differential thermal analysis (DTA) curve depends on the sample and the reference, the heating or cooling rates used in theexperiment as also the thermal resistance to heat ¯ow from the heat source to the cell containing the sample (or the reference), Ra (Rr).Having access to a database that contains the values of the sample heat capacity, Cp, and those of the enthalpy of transformation, H, andcalculating the parameters that depend on the apparatus, the cells and the reference, as well as the heating rate used, it is possible todetermine the T (Ta ÿ Tr) values through the equationTa ÿ Tr RadHdt RrCrdTrdt ÿ RaCadTadtwhere Ca is the heat capacity of the cell sample system and Cb the heat capacity of the cell reference system. The comparison betweenthe calculated and experimental values for T enables an assessment to be made as to whether the modelled parameters are in agreementwith the experimental information. This procedure enables a deeper perception of the thermal analysis in general and of the apparatus usedin particular
