    Forklift alat yang cukup efisien untuk kegiatan bongkar muat, dalam beberapa kasus karena ruang yang sangat terbatas forklift cukup kesulitan melakukan hal ini, untuk mengatasinya diperlukan peralatan khusus yang diberi nama side shifter. Yang menjadi permasalahan setelah pemasangan dari perangkat side shifter ini adalah mengenai tingkat kestabilan dari forklift dan kebutuhan tekanan oli hydraulic. Untuk mengetahui permasalahan tersebut perlu dilakukan analisa tingkat kestabilan dan analisa hydraulic. Dari analisa didapat hasil, untuk analisa kestabilan forklift saat mengangkat beban CG combined berada pada titik 1220 mm dari axle roda belakang antara roda depan dan roda belakang mendapat gaya sebesar 3088,70 kg, 1851,76 kg, untuk analisa kestabilan forklift saat menggunakan side shifter letak CG berada pada titik 1220 mm dari axle roda belakang dan 612,5 mm dari ujung tepi roda depan tumpuan A dan tumpuan B mendapat gaya sebesar 1964,30 kg, 480 kg. Dari analisa hydraulic didapat hasil, Kecepatan geser (v ) = 12,05 mm/s, Tekanan fluida kerja pada cylinder = 0,645 N/mm², Beban maksimal yang boleh di muat adalah 2410,22 kg.     Surakarta is one of the largest cities that is being developed in the southern part of Java after bandung and malang (based on the number of its inhabitants) is also a center for the development of Central Java in the east and south. The development of the city of Surakarta to become a big city with a dual function, namely as the center of the city in trade, tourism, education, culture and sports continue to make improvements in a variety of ways. First, Surakarta is a meeting of 3 the path of large cities, namely Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya, where it has great potential in the development of the city, but can also result in a negative impact on the occurrence of various social problems in the community. Developments in follow also with the growth of population and the use of the vehicle or personal transportation, high activity and livelihoods are diverse, and many people visit and maybe settle cause of social problems. One of them is the development of transportation technology followed the increasing growth of the use of the vehicle which can not be offset by road facilities create problems of congestion especially on the crossing piece of train. Congestion that occurs at crossing train Purwosari on the city's main street jalan Slamet Riyadi which is the heart of the Central Business Distirct. The congestion that occurs in Purwosari also affected the arrangement of parking snafu on the shoulder of the road because the building industry which does not provide parking. Congestion is getting worse, make the main priority of the government to immediately resolve the problems with planning the construction of a Fly Over. Development planning which is not followed by regional planning and the building industry (retail, markets and trade centers) in the region will pose a problem. It is necessary to do the setup, planning, and redevelopment of the area and buildings of the Central Business Purwosari so mutually connected and integrated with public transport. The arrangement of the carried out namely in terms of pedestrian, open space or public space, parking, circulation and traffic. While the building by integrating the building that has the function and designation of the same (retail) so as to connect to each other and be a unity in the form of building of the trade center, as well as build the supporting facilities of the Central Business which is not available in Purwosari, namely a parking area or parking building

    PT. ABC merupakan salah satu pabrik yang memproduksi botol kemasan kaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui layak atau tidaknya rencana investasi pada proyek Narrow Neck Press and Blow secara finansial di PT. ABC pada periode bulan April 2014 hingga bulan Juni 2014. Analisis kelayakan finansial proyek Narrow Neck Press and Blow, menggunakan metode analisis Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Payback Period dan Sensitivity Analysis. Perbedaan antara nilai sekarang dari semua kas masuk dengan nilai sekarang dari semua kas keluar dari suatu proyek atau suatu investasi diperoleh dengan metode NPV, sedangkan untuk mencari tingkat bunga yang menyamakan nilai sekarang dari aliran kas bersih dan investasi diperoleh dengan metode IRR. Metode analisis yang dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui berapa lamakah waktu yang diperlukan untuk menutup dana yang dikeluarkan untuk suatu proyek dapat diperoleh dengan metode Payback Period. Setelah itu, dilakukan pengujian menggunakan sensitivitas analisis untuk mengetahui tingkat sensitivitas untuk tiap-tiap parameter terhadap persentase kenaikan dan penurunan. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai NPV sebesar Rp. 1.179.728.649.900,06, nilai IRR sebesar 56,36% dan periode pengembalian terletak pada 2 tahun 2 bulan 9 hari. Dengan menggunakan analisis sensitivitas dapat diketahui bahwa proyek ini sangat sensitif terhadap penurunan volume produksi. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, titik impas akan dicapai apabila volume produksi 213.403.267 unit per tahun atau 88,92% dari volume produksi awal. Nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa apabila volume produksi pada suatu periode mengalami penurunan lebih dari 11,08% dari volume produksi awal, maka investasi tersebut akan merugikan

    Dhaka city water logging hazards: area identification and vulnerability assessment through GIS-remote sensing techniques

    Water logging is one of the most detrimental phenomena continuing to burden Dhaka dwellers. This study aims to spatio-temporarily identify the water logging hazard zones within Dhaka Metropolitan area and assess the extent of their water logging susceptibility based on informal settlements, built-up areas, and demographical characteristics. The study utilizes integrated geographic information system (GIS)-remote sensing (RS) methods, using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Water and Moisture Index, distance buffer zone from drainage streams, and built-up distributions to identify waterlogged zones with a temporal extent, incorporating social and infrastructural attributes to evaluate water logging effects. These indicators were integrated into an overlay GIS method to measure the vulnerability level across Dhaka city areas. The findings reveal that south and south-western parts of Dhaka were more susceptible to water logging hazards. Almost 35% of Dhaka belongs to the high/very highly vulnerable zone. Greater number of slum households were found within high to very high water logging vulnerable zones and approximately 70% of them are poorly structured. The built-up areas were observed to be increased toward the northern part of Dhaka and were exposed to severe water logging issues. The overall findings reveal the spatio-temporal distribution of the water logging vulnerabilities across the city as well as its impact on the social indicators. An integrated approach is necessary for future development plans to mitigate the risk of water logging

    Depression, sleeping pattern, and suicidal ideation among medical students in Bangladesh: a cross-sectional pilot study

Background: Depression is a major morbidity and the most common mental disorder among the medical students in medical schools globally. Undergraduate students suffer stress more due to their academic curriculum than the students of other faculties. In low-resource settings like Bangladesh, there is a dearth in research on the mental health of undergraduate medical students. This pilot study was conducted to add to the existing limited evidence by reporting the prevalence of depression and describing sleeping pattern and suicidal tendencies among medical students. Relevantly, we have investigated the overall mental health status among the medical students in Bangladesh. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in two medical colleges of Dhaka between July 2013 and December 2013, among 221 Bangladeshi medical students from first to fifth year. By the convenience sampling technique, data were collected by a pretested, structured, self-administered questionnaire and analysis was done by SPSS version 18.0. Depression was assessed by the validated Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) tool among the respondents. Goldberg’s General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) was used for assessing overall mental health status. Results: Depression was found in 38.9% of participants, with 3.6%, 14.5%, and 20.8% being severe, moderate, and mild depression, respectively. 17.6% of medical students had suicidal tendency or attempted suicide at least once after attending medical school. The sleeping hours were inadequate and altered after starting this stressful academic course. 33.5% of medical students had poor mental health status. There was a statistically significant association between poor mental health status in the age group less than 22 years old and initial academic study year (1st to 3rd of MBBS). Conclusion: The findings are suggestive of a higher prevalence of depression among early-year medical students and marginal predominance in males. Suicidal tendency is also higher. This calls for further investigation with situation analysis, qualitative explorations, and surveys to explore the burden of such disorders in Bangladesh

    Ceftriaxone-resistant Salmonella Typhi Outbreak in Hyderabad City of Sindh, Pakistan: High Time for the Introduction of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine

    Background. The Aga Khan University clinical microbiology laboratory identified an outbreak of ceftriaxone-resistant Salmonella Typhi in Hyderabad, Pakistan, through antimicrobial resistance surveillance. An outbreak investigation was carried out to identify the risk factors and institute control measures. Here we report the preliminary findings of this outbreak investigation, using data collected from 30 November 2016 to 28 March 2017. Methods. The design for the investigation was a case-control study that included identification of culture-proven ceftriaxoneresistant S. Typhi cases, suspected cases from the households or neighborhood of the confirmed cases, and enrollment of controls matched by age to identify the risk factors. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a structured questionnaire. Blood cultures were obtained from all suspected cases. Drinking water samples from each household of cases and controls were obtained for microbiological testing. Geographic Information System coordinates were obtained for all cases and controls. Results. Only 2 subdistricts of Hyderabad (Latifabad and Qasimabad) were affected. A total of 101 confirmed cases of ceftriaxone- resistant S. Typhi had been reported in 4 months with the first case reported on 30 November 2016. Median age was 48 (interquartile range, 29-84) months. The majority (60% [61/101]) of the cases were 6-60 months old. More than half (56% [57/101]) of the cases were male. About 60% of the cases were admitted to hospital and treated as inpatient. More than half (57/101) of the patients developed complications related to typhoid. Conclusions. Community awareness was raised regarding chlorination of drinking water and sanitation measures in Hyderabad. These efforts were coordinated with the municipal water and sewage authority established to improve chlorination at processing plants and operationalize fecal sludge treatment plants.     A road to reality with topological superconductors

In a superconductor these are Majorana fermions, described by a real rather than a complex wave function.     Fully gapped topological surface states in Bi2_2Se3_3 films induced by a d-wave high-temperature superconductor

    Topological insulators are a new class of materials, that exhibit robust gapless surface states protected by time-reversal symmetry. The interplay between such symmetry-protected topological surface states and symmetry-broken states (e.g. superconductivity) provides a platform for exploring novel quantum phenomena and new functionalities, such as 1D chiral or helical gapless Majorana fermions, and Majorana zero modes which may find application in fault-tolerant quantum computation. Inducing superconductivity on topological surface states is a prerequisite for their experimental realization. Here by growing high quality topological insulator Bi2_2Se3_3 films on a d-wave superconductor Bi2_2Sr2_2CaCu2_2O8+δ_{8+\delta} using molecular beam epitaxy, we are able to induce high temperature superconductivity on the surface states of Bi2_2Se3_3 films with a large pairing gap up to 15 meV. Interestingly, distinct from the d-wave pairing of Bi2_2Sr2_2CaCu2_2O8+δ_{8+\delta}, the proximity-induced gap on the surface states is nearly isotropic and consistent with predominant s-wave pairing as revealed by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Our work could provide a critical step toward the realization of the long sought-after Majorana zero modes.Comment: Nature Physics, DOI:10.1038/nphys274
