    WHEN CULTURE MEETS RELIGION: THE MULUDAN TRADITION IN THE KA-NOMAN SULTANATE, CIREBON, WEST JAVA

    This article is based on a fundamental question, what is the relationship between practicing the Muludan tradition and seeking of power by the Royal family of the Kanoman Sultanate in Cirebon? The Muludan is a tradition conducted by the Royal family, and thousands of people participate in this tradition. This article is aimed to analyze the extent of which the Royal family uses Muludan tradition to regain their political power as they had in the past. Our participatory research shows that the Muludan tradition could be defined as a religious-cultural system. This is not only a religious ritual but also a cultural tradition. On the one hand this tradition is done primarily based on the knowledge, beliefs, norms and moral values of religious teachings. People participating in this tradition believe that they would gain God blessing (Ngalap Berkah) and Shafa’at as cited by the Quran and the Hadith. On the other hand, this tradition involves cultural tradition that has been practiced by the local people since long time ago. This research also found that the Royal family fails to use this tradition to gain political power as they intend to do. This tradition could mainly effectively be implemented in terms of the socio-cultural relationship between the Sultan and the followers. Political power, the Royal family aims to gain through conducting the Muludan tradition, does not significantly happen.     This project is about the assessment of stress intensity factor for a crack emanating from a corner of a square hole. In this project, finite element analysis (FEA) software package, ANSYS will be used to determine the stress intensity factor. The results from the finite element method by ANSYS will be compared to the semi-analytical solution that is developed by N. Hasebe and M. Ueda [1]. The analysis will be carried out using linear isotropic and elastic approach in plane strain condition as described in the linear elastic fracture mechanics [2]

    Teacher Certification in Indonesia: A Confusion of Means and Ends

    In 2006, Indonesia started implementing a nation-wide program of teacher certification with the aim to certify as many as 2.3 million teachers in 2015 with the budgetary cost of as much as US$460 million. Despite the magnitude and the importance of this program, there has been no quantitative study to evaluate the impact of such program on student’s achievement. In this study, we conducted a teacher survey in the Greater Bandung Area and collected the information on average national exam scores of the students of certified and not-certified teachers. We use two different impact evaluation techniques namely Propensity Score Matching (PSM) and Difference-in-Difference (DD) to evaluate the impact of certification. Both methods suggest that teacher certification has no impact on student’s achievement. The certification program may have improved teacher’s living standard as remuneration increase is an elemental part of it, yet its formally-stated goal to improve the quality of education as should be indicated in better students’ performance may not have been achieved.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai di Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Tulungagung. metode yang digunakan penulis adalah metode kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang penulis lakukan adalah observasi,wawancara, dan penyebaran kuesioner. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukan pengaruh disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai di Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Tulungagung adalah sebesar 94,09%, selain itu juga dipengaruhi faktor lain diluar penelitian sebesar 5,91%.  Permasalahan : (1) Kurangnya sikap saling menghargai antar pegawai dalam melakukan pekerjaan (2) Waktu pulang tidak tepat.  Saran : (1) Lebih meningkatkan sikap dan etika kerja agar terjalin hubungan kerja yang baik dan menunjang kedisiplinan dan kinerja pegawai (2) Pemimpin harus lebih tegas dalam mengambil tindakan dan berani menghukum setiap pegawai yang indisipliner

    Muslims around the world mostly was under the domination of the West in the mastery of science and technology. Establishing educational institutions that are based on science and technology is one of the ways to solve the problem.This study had the purpose to examine the epistemology of science in the teaching system in SMA Trensains boarding school Tebuireng Jombang. Applying the method of field research through qualitative approach and philosophical analyses, this study revealed that SMA Trensains Tebuireng Jombang applied "Islamic Science" in which science is constructed based on the revelation of God. It is meant that in Islamic epistemology, revelation and the Sunnah are the sources which are inspiring for building sciences. It is hoped that the building the Islamic epistemology of science will bear pious Muslim generation in religious field and proficient in science and technology, and it will impact to the glory of Islamic civilization in the future.***Pada umumnya, umat Islam di dunia ini berada di bawah dominasi Barat dalam penguasaan ilmu dan teknologi. Pendirian lembaga pendidikan yang didasarkan pada ilmu dan teknologi merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti epistemologi ilmu dalam sistem pengajaran di SMA Trensains di pondok Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian lapangan dan dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif serta analisis filosofis, kajian ini menemukan bahwa SMA Trensains Tebuireng Jombang menerapkan Sains Islam, di mana ilmu dibangun berdasar wahyu Tuhan. Maksudnya adalah bahwa dalam epistemologi Islam wahyu dan sunnah adalah sumber yang memberikan inspirasi bagi pembangunan ilmu pengetahuan. Diharapkan pembangunan epistemologi Islam untuk ilmu penge­tahuan akan melahirkan generasi Muslim yang shalih dalam bidang agama dan ahli dalam bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, yang pada gilirannya akan memberikan dampak bagi kejayaan peradaban Islam di masa yang akan datang

    The house light control system is still mostly manual and the homeowner sometimes tends to forget to turn off the lights when leaving the house, so the owner of the house must return to turn off the lights or leave the lights on until the homeowner returns. The use of NodeMCU ESP8266 is currently favored by internet of things based developers, because the price of the module is quite cheap and can be programmed using the Arduino IDE allowing NodeMCU to be the preferred choice. This study uses Telegram Messenger Bot as a message sender and message recipient to control home lights, using NodeMCU as a Relay controller to turn off and turn on the home lights when they are or not at home

In this paper, spectrum sensing of digital video broadcasting-second generation terrestrial (DVB-T2) signals in AWGN, WRAN and COST207 multipath fading environment are considered. ED is known to achieve an increased performance among low computational complexity detectors, but it is susceptible to noise uncertainty. Taking into consideration the edge pilot and scattered pilot periodicity in DVB-T2 signals, a low computational noise power estimator is proposed. Analytical forms for the detector are derived. Simulation results show that with the noise power estimator, ED significantly outperforms the pilot correlation-based detectors. Simulation also show that the proposed scheme enables ED to obtain increased detection performance in multi-path fading environments. Moreover, based on this algorithm a practical sensing scheme for cognitive radio networks is proposed.Peer reviewedFinal Accepted Versio

ED is known to achieve an increased performance among low computational complexity detectors, but it is susceptible to noise uncertainty. By taking into consideration the edge pilot and scattered pilot periodicity in DVB-T2 signals, a low computational complex noise power estimator is proposed. It is shown analytically that the choice of detector depends on the environment, the detector requirements, the available prior knowledge and with the noise power estimator. Simulation confirm that with the noise power estimator, ED significantly outperforms the pilot correlation-based detectors. Simulation also show that the proposed scheme enables ED to obtain increased detection performance in fading channels

    Common rail is one of the most important components in a diesel and gasoline direct injection system. It features a high-pressure (100 bar) fuel rail feeding solenoid valves, as opposed to a low-pressure fuel pump feeding unit injectors. Third-generation common rail diesels now feature piezoelectric injectors for increased precision, with fuel pressures up to 2,500 bar. The purpose of this review paper is to investigate the technology and research in fuel injectors common rail system. This review paper focuses on component of common rail injection system, pioneer of common rail injection, characteristics of common rail injection system, method to reduce smoke and NOx emission simultaneously and impact of common rail injection system. Based on our research, it can be concluded that common rail injection gives many benefit such as good for the engine performance, safe to use, and for to reduce the emission of the vehicle. Fuel injection common rail system is the modern technology that must be developed. Nowadays, our earth is polluting by vehicle output such as smoke.
