Gravitating sphalerons and sphaleron black holes in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime
Numerical arguments are presented for the existence of spherically symmetric
regular and black hole solutions of the EYMH equations with a negative
cosmological constant. These solutions approach asymptotically the anti-de
Sitter spacetime. The main properties of the solutions and the differences with
respect to the asymptotically flat case are discussed. The instability of the

Exact monopole instantons and cosmological solutions in string theory from abelian dimensional reduction
We compute the exact string vacuum backgrounds corresponding to the
non-compact coset theory . The conformal field theory defined by
the level results in a five dimensional singular solution that
factorizes in an asymptotic region as the linear dilaton solution and a
model. It presents two abelian compact isometries that allow to reinterpreting
it from a four dimensional point of view as a stationary and magnetically
charged space-time resembling in some aspects the Kerr-Newman solution of
general relativity. The theory on the other hand describes a
cosmological solution that interpolates between a singular phase at short times

The Rise of a Latin Model? : family and fertility consequences of employment instability in Italy and Spain
This paper analyses how unstable employment influences becoming a mother in Italy and Spain. Results suggest that institutional factors foster dynamics of social inequality and hinder family formation. We show that in southern Europe (Italy and Spain), but not in other institutional contexts, the lack of employment stability produces a delay in fertility decision. We attribute this impact of the employment situation on demographic decisions to the sub-protective southern European welfare systems and the insider\u2013outsider labor market configuration, as enhanced by the partial and targeted labor market deregulations of recent decades. In the context of low levels of welfare, unstable employment often comes with persistently reduced entitlement to social and welfare rights, and, therefore, with notable social and demographic consequences. We provide support for this institutional argument by showing that fertility decisions are independent of employment stability in other contexts. We construct a dyon solution for a Yang-Mills-Higgs theory in a 4 dimensional
Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter black hole background with temperature T. We then
apply the AdS/CFT correspondence to describe the strong coupling regime of a
2+1 quantum field theory which undergoes a phase transition exhibiting the

Awake examination versus DISE for surgical decision making in patients with OSA: A systematic review
OBJECTIVE:
Traditionally, upper airway examination is performed while the patient is awake. However, in the past two decades, drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) has been used as a method of tridimensional evaluation of the upper airway during pharmacologically induced sleep. This study aimed to systematically review the evidence regarding the usefulness of DISE compared with that of traditional awake examination for surgical decision making in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
DATA SOURCES:
Scopus, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases were searched.
REVIEW METHODS:
Only studies with a primary objective of evaluating the usefulness of DISE for surgical decision making in patients with OSA were selected. The included studies directly compared awake examination data with DISE outcome data in terms of possible influences on surgical decision making and operation success.
RESULTS:
A total of eight studies with 535 patients were included in this review. Overall, the surgical treatment changed after DISE in 50.24% (standard deviation 8.4) cases. These changes were more frequently associated with structures contributing to hypopharyngeal or laryngeal obstruction. However, these differences do not automatically indicate a higher success rate.
CONCLUSION:
This review emphasized the direct impact of DISE compared with that of awake examination on surgical decision making in OSA patients. However, it is also clear that the available published studies lack evidence on the association between this impact and surgical outcome
Transfer Hydrogenation of Azo Compounds with Ammonia Borane Using a Simple Acyclic Phosphite Precatalyst
Tris(quinolin-8-yl)phosphite, P(Oquin)(3), promotes the dehydrogenation of H3N center dot BH3 (AB) and the transfer hydrogenation of azoarenes using ammonia borane (AB) as H-2 source. The metal-free reduction of azoarenes proceeds under mild reaction conditions upon which several diphenylhydrazine derivatives are obtained in high yields. The reactivity of P(Oquin)(3) toward AB was evaluated through NMR in situ tests. The rate of the reaction, activation parameters, deuterium kinetic isotope effect (DKIE) and linear-free energy relationship were investigated. Such mechanistic and kinetic studies suggest that P(Oquin)(3) is a precatalyst and that AB is likely involved in more than one stage of the reaction pathway. Position and Stiffness Control of One DoF Revolute Joint Using a Biphasic Media Variable Stiffness Actuator
At this time, several industrial processes and service tasks need safe interactions between humans and robots. This safety can be achieved using compliance design and control of mechanisms. This paper presents a compliant revolute joint mechanism using a variable stiffness actuator. The method for adapting the stiffness in the actuator includes a member onfigured to transmit motion that is connected to a fluidic circuit, into which a biphasic control fluid circulates. Actuator's stiffness is controlled by changing pressure of control fluid into distribution lines. The used control fluid is biphasic, composed of separated gas and liquid fractions with predefined ratio. A mathematical model of the actuator is presented, a modelbased control method is implemented to track the desired position and stiffness, and equations relating to the dynamics of the mechanism are provided. Results from force loaded and unloaded simulations and experiments with a physical prototype are discussed
Gravitating Instantons In 3 Dimensions
We study the Einstein-Chern-Simons gravity coupled to Yang-Mills-Higgs theory
in three dimensional Euclidean space with cosmological constant. The classical
equations reduce to Bogomol'nyi type first order equations in curved space.
There are BPS type gauge theory instanton (monopole) solutions of finite action
in a gravitational instanton which itself has a finite action. We also discuss
