The Grid[Way] Job Template Manager, a tool for parameter sweeping
Parameter sweeping is a widely used algorithmic technique in computational
science. It is specially suited for high-throughput computing since the jobs
evaluating the parameter space are loosely coupled or independent.
A tool that integrates the modeling of a parameter study with the control of
jobs in a distributed architecture is presented. The main task is to facilitate
the creation and deletion of job templates, which are the elements describing
the jobs to be run. Extra functionality relies upon the GridWay Metascheduler,
acting as the middleware layer for job submission and control. It supports
interesting features like multi-dimensional sweeping space, wildcarding of
parameters, functional evaluation of ranges, value-skipping and job template
automatic indexation.
The use of this tool increases the reliability of the parameter sweep study
thanks to the systematic bookkeping of job templates and respective job
statuses. Furthermore, it simplifies the porting of the target application to
the grid reducing the required amount of time and effort.Comment: 26 pages, 1 figure

Quantum Double Models coupled with matter: an algebraic dualisation approach
In this paper, we constructed a new generalization of a class of discrete
bidimensional models, the so called Quantum Double Models, by introduce matter
qunits to the faces of the lattice that supports these models. This new
generalization can be interpreted as the algebraic dual of a first, where we
introduce matter qunits to the vertices of this same lattice. By evaluating the
algebraic and topological orders of these new models, we prove that, as in the
first generalization, a new phenomenon of quasiparticle confinement may appear
again: this happens when the co-action homomorphism between matter and gauge
groups is non-trivial. Consequently, this homomorphism not only classifies the
different models that belong to this new class, but also suggests that they can
be interpreted as a 2-dimensional restriction of the 2-lattice gauge theories.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures; submitted to publicatio
ArCLight - a Compact Dielectric Large-Area Photon Detector
ArCLight is a novel device for detecting scintillation light over large areas
with Photon Detection Efficiency (PDE) of the order of a few percent. Its
robust technological design allows for efficient use in large-volume particle
detectors, such as Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LArTPCs) or liquid
scintillator detectors. Due to its dielectric structure it can be placed inside
volumes with high electric field. It could potentially replace vacuum
PhotoMultiplier Tubes (PMTs) in applications where high PDE is not required.
The photon detection efficiency for a 10x10cm2 detector prototype was measured
to be in the range of 0.8% to 2.2% across the active area
Sophisticated momenta mapping with DIANA
Details of recent developments of the Feynman diagram analyzer DIANA (DIagram
ANAlyser) are presented. Apart from some discussion about QGRAF and new
plotting features, we concentrate on a new sophisticated mechanism of momenta
mapping.Comment: 4 pages, 4 Encapsulated postscript figures, LaTeX2e, uses espcrc2.sty
