A Paradigm of Reforms with Alternate Energy Sources

This paper focusses on rapidly growing gas demand in the state, its key drivers and solutions. Emphasis is provided on Kuwait’s outlook and ventures into liquefied natural gas (LNG), controls and measures developed for handling constraints in logistical infrastructure. Requirement for tight interaction between the suppliers and consumers was pivotal to segregate different qualities of natural gas to certain consumers. A robust Gas Network system was conceived in the state and it was concluded that under normal operating conditions, it will be possible to supply gas to all essential consumers by combining the available gas from upstream units, refineries and LNG import facility. In this work, a full-blown gas network was simulated to determine transportation capacities, potential restrictions of suppliers and flexibility to use different types of gases available in the system. The study outlined decisive propositions such as the natural gas produced in the state will not be adequate to fulfil the future energy demand, therefore, additional sources such as LNG were more deeply analysed. Moreover, the current energy strategy is primarily based on fossil fuels and hence more efforts were required in implementing renewable energy solutions. In line with this approach, implementation of state sponsored renewable energy projects is underway and by 2030 the share of renewable energy is planned to stretch up to 15% of overall power demand

Regenerative endodontic treatment in mature teeth: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Regenerative endodontic treatment (RET) is an alternative treatment for immature teeth, however, its efficacy on mature teeth is still controversial. This review was aimed to assess the level of evidence of clinical and radiographical outcomes of RET in mature teeth and run a meta-analysis to compare its success rate to conventional root canal treatment (CRCT). The electronic databases PubMed, Science Direct and Web of Science were used to search based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs), case series, and case reports studies of the RET in mature teeth published in the English language from January 2010 till December 2021 were selected. A meta-analysis was performed using the random-effects model on the randomized clinical trials that compare the success rate based on clinical and radiographic outcomes of RET and CRCT. From sixteen articles included in the narrative analysis, two studies were subjected to meta-analysis. Different protocol aspects of RET including disinfection, size of apical preparation, intracanal medications, types of scaffolds, barriers and follow-up periods were described. The meta5analysis showed no significant differences in success rate between CRCT (89.47%) and RET (95.45%) at 12 months (P> 0.05), while it showed a significant increase in a positive response to the electrical pulp test of RET (P= 0.010). With the limitations, the adopted protocols of RET are comparable to CRCT and could be a potential approach to treat mature teeth with pulp necrosis and/or apical periodontitis. However, providing more evidence is essential to ascertain these findings

Purpose. Shunt capacitors are installed in power system for compensating reactive power. Therefore, feeder capacity releases, voltage profile improves and power loss reduces. However, determination optimal location and size of capacitors in distributionsystems is a complex optimization problem. In order to determine the optimum size and location of the capacitor, an objective function which is generally defined based on capacitor installation costs and power losses should be minimized According to operational limitations. This paper offers a newly developed metaheuristic technique, named dice game optimizerto determine optimal size and location of capacitors in a distribution network. Dice game optimizer is a game based optimization technique that is based on the rules of the dice game.ЦСль. Get PDF
AbstractThis study aims to examine general public knowledge and behavior toward pharmaceutical advertisements in the Western part of KSA. A cross sectional convenience sampling technique was used in this study. A total of 1445 valid questionnaires were received and analyzed using SPSS version 16 at alpha value of 0.05. Majority of respondents were aware of different types of drugs to be advertised and drug advertisements should seek approval from the health authorities. Television and Internet showed the highest effect on consumers. Almost half of the participants preferred an advertised drug over non-advertised one. Most of the respondents indicated that the quality of frequently advertised drugs is not better than those prescribed by the doctors. Majority of participants had positive beliefs toward advertised drugs concerning their role in education and spreading of awareness among the public. Pharmaceutical advertisements harm the doctor–patient relationship as evidenced by one-third of the investigated sample. Moreover, majority of the participants mentioned that they would consult another doctor or even change the current doctor if he/she refused to prescribe an advertised medication. Results of this study could be used to develop awareness programs for the general public and try to enforce the regulations and policies to protect the general public and patients from the business oriented pharmaceutical companies and drug suppliers

Objective: Water treatment systems are a vital factor in dialysis therapy and precise control of hemodialysis water bacteriological quality is predominantly important in order to assurance a better quality of life of the hemodialysis patients. The purpose of this study was to detect the level of contamination in hemodialysis water and dialysate by bacteria in Mukalla Artificial Kidney Center and investigate the antimicrobial resistance patterns of isolated bacteria.  Methods: Forty eight samples of water and dialysate were assembled weekly over a period of 3 months from 4 points. Bacteriological analysis of samples was carried out then antimicrobial susceptibilities patterns of isolated bacteria were concluded by disk diffusion method. Results: The mean of total count of bacteria for dialysis water and dialysate were higher than the recommended values (100 CFU/ ml). The isolated bacteria which colonized the hemodialysis systems were mostly Gram-negative bacilli as Pseudomonas sp., Serratia sp., Citrobacter sp. and Enterobater sp. In general, most of the isolated bacteria were poorly responsive to antibiotics. Conclusion:  In conclusion: Dialysis water and dialysate not passed to meet the bacteriological provisions for hemodialysis. To reduce the hazard of contaminants for hemodialysis patients, a sufficient system for water treatment, disinfection of hemodialysis system, and bacteriological contamination monitoring of the water and dialysate are necessary.               Peer Review History: Received 19 December 2019;   Revised 25 December; Accepted 7 January, Available online 15 January 2020 Academic Editor: Rola Jadallah, Arab American University, Palestine, [email protected] UJPR follows the most transparent and toughest β€˜Advanced OPEN peer review’ system. The Effect Of Other Information On Equity Valuation: Kuwait Evidence

    Get PDF
Previous studies on the value relevance of accounting information adopt Ohlsons linear information dynamics which, if other information is ignored, leads to a theoretical valuation model solely involving earnings, book value, and net shareholder cash flows or (net dividends). The lack of analysis of other value-relevant data may defeat the effectiveness of the Ohlsons model since the current accounting data cannot fully account for future earnings. The potential implication of ignoring other information is that it could introduce bias into estimated coefficients (e.g. Ohlson, 1995; Hand and Landsman, 2005). This study examines the effect of introducing other information proxied by lagged valuation error on equity valuation, utilizing a sample of non-financial companies listed at the Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) over the period 2003 to 2009. Empirical results of this study reveal that our proxy for other information appears to capture valuation implications of information other than current variables in the linear information dynamic setting. Results also reveal that adding other information to the valuation model clearly reduces the coefficients on earnings and dividends, and increases the coefficient of book value; however, book value and earnings remain significantly associated with stock prices. As a consequence, current accounting variables appear to be capturing some, but not all, of other information when this variable is omitted. We conclude that other information is an important factor in determining the market value of firms and hence should not be omitted in studies examining the value relevance of accounting information

Studying the Effect of Adding Aleppo Pylon to the Properties of Insulating and Accumulation of Polyvinyl Chloride Films

    Get PDF
This research presents a study of the effect of adding natural and modified Aleppo Pylon (Syrian clay) in different proportions to the properties of polymeric films prepared from poly vinyl chlorid (PVC) polymer and dried at three different drying degrees (60oC, 100oC, 150oC). The clay surface was changed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic by treating the surface with quaternary alkyl ammonium salts. Both types of Aleppo Pylone were added to the polymer by weight (0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%), and the polymeric films were prepared by way of mixing well of PVC polymer and clay. The mixing technique used hexanol as a solvent. The clay was mixed with the polymer at 150 Co temperature using a magnetic stirrer. The effect of adding natural and modified Aleppo Pylon to the properties of water absorption ratio, moisture content, migration of components in moderate, acidic and alkaline aqueous solutions, thermal stability and air permeability of polymeric films prepared from PVC polymer and clay with different drying degrees was studied and compared with them, in order to reach an improved PVC that can be used in the field of packaging
