In the molecule of the title compound, C16H13N3O2S, one hydrazinic nitrogen atom is essentially planar, but the other is slightly pyramidalized. The torsion angle about the hydrazinic bond is 66.44 (15)°. Both hydrazinic hydrogen atoms lie anti-periplanar to the oxygen of the adjacent carbonyl group. The mol-ecular packing is a layer structure determined by two classical hydrogen bonds, N-H⋯O=C and N-H⋯Nthia-zole. The space group is P1 with Z = 1, which is unusual for an achiral organic compound

Abstract: An experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of supplemental Propolis on productive performance and immune response of laying hens. One hundred and twenty Hy-Line White strain were divided into four groups of 30 each. They were fed 0, 50, 100 and 150 mg of supplemental Propolis for 8 weeks (46-54wk). Chickens in all groups were reared under the same environmental, managerial and hygienic conditions. Feed and water were supplied ad libitum. The average high and low ambient temperatures recorded during the experimental period were 22.6 and 15.8 C, respectively. The performance o data revealed that the laying hens fed diet containing 100 and 150 mg Propolis were significantly consumed more feed than control-group. Similar trend, but not statistically significant, was observed for hens fed diet added 50 mg Propolis. With respect to egg mass, it could be noticed that the laying hens fed diet containing 100 and 150 mg Propolis significantly produced heaviest egg mass compared to control-group. The hens fed diet added 50 mg Propolis were intermediate. The increase feed intake and egg mass in propolis groups, resulting in significantly improve feed conversion ratio compared to control-group. Eggshell quality was significantly affected by Propolis supplementation, whereas the percentage and thickness of eggshell were significantly increased in the eggs produced from hens fed diet containing medium or high level of Propolis. In accordance to hematological parameters, the medium or high level of dietary Propolis significantly increased hematocrit level, plasma total protein and globulin. Conversely, the plasma cholesterol and liver enzymes were significantly reduced when laying hens fed diet containing 100 or 150 mg Propolis. In vivo cell-mediated immune response as measured by PHA-P stimulation (wattle) revealed that the laying hens fed diet added 50, 100 and 150 mg Propolis/kg had significantly hyper responder compared to control-fed group. Concerning white blood cells differentiation, the present results speculated that the 100 and 150 mg Propolis supplementation significantly decreased heterophils count and increased lymphocytes count when compared with the control-group. In conclusion, it can be concluded from the above study that supplementation of Propolis at 100 or 150 mg is beneficial for improving the performance and immunity and for exploiting the full genetic potential of the commercial laying hens

Intermediate-Distance String Effects in Wilson Loops via Boundary Action

    Get PDF
The density profile of the QCD flux tube is investigated within the framework of the L¨ uscher-Weisz (LW) string action with two boundary terms. The transverse action profile and potential between static quarks are considered using Wilson’s loop overlap formalism at zero temperature in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory. We find the predictions of the LWstring matching the lattice data for the width of the energy-density and Q ¯Q potential up to a small color-source separation of R = 0.32 fm

Assessing Drought Tolerance of Newly Developed Tissue-Cultured Canola Genotypes under Varying Irrigation Regimes

This article belongs to the Special Issue Crop Tolerance under Biotic and Abiotic Stresses[Abstract] Drought is a major abiotic stress that greatly affects canola growth, production, and quality. Moreover, water scarcity is projected to be more severe and frequent as a result of climate change, in particular in arid environments. Thereupon, developing drought-tolerant and high-yielding canola genotypes has become more critical to sustaining its production and ensuring global food security with the continuing population growth. In the present study, ten canola genotypes comprising six developed tissue-cultured canola genotypes, two exotic genotypes, and two commercial cultivars were evaluated under four irrigation regimes. The applied irrigation regimes were well-watered (100% crop evapotranspiration, ETc), mild drought (80% ETc), moderate drought (60% ETc), and severe drought (40% ETc) conditions. Drought-stress treatments (80, 60, and 40% ETc) gradually reduced the chlorophyll content, relative water content, flowering time, days to maturity, plant height, number of pods, number of branches, seed yield, and oil percentage, and increased proline, phenolic, anthocyanin, and glycine betaine contents. The evaluated genotypes exhibited varied responses to drought-stress conditions. The developed tissue-cultured genotypes T2, T3, and T1, as well as exotic genotype Torpe, possessed the highest performance in all evaluated parameters and surpassed the other tested genotypes under water-deficit conditions. Overall, our findings elicited the superiority of certain newly developed tissue-cultured genotypes and exotic ones compared with commercial cultivars, which could be exploited in canola breeding under water-deficit conditions. This research was funded by the Researchers Supporting Project number (RSPD-2023R730), King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaKing Saud University (Riad, Arabia Saudí); RSPD-2023R73

Extent: 7p.Background: While people with severe mental illness have been found to be more overweight and obese in Western nations, it is unknown to what extent this occurs in Middle Eastern nations and which eating behaviours contribute to obesity in Middle Eastern nations. Method: A total of 665 responses were obtained from patients with serious mental illness attending out-patient clinics in Western developed countries (Germany, UK and Australia; n = 518) and Palestine (n = 147). Patients were evaluated by ICD-10 clinical diagnosis, anthropometric measurements and completed a self-report measure of frequencies of consuming different food items and reasons for eating. Nutritional habits were compared against a Western normative group. Results: More participants from Palestine were overweight or obese (62%) compared to Western countries (47%). In the Western sample, obese patients reported consuming more low-fat products (OR 2.54, 95% CI 1.02-6.33) but also greater eating due to negative emotions (OR 1.84, 95% CI 1.31-2.60) than patients with a healthy body-mass index. In contrast, obese patients from Palestine reported increased consumption of unhealthy snacks (OR 3.73 95% CI 1.16-12.00). Conclusion: Patients with mental illness have poorer nutritional habits than the general population, particularly in Western nations. Separate interventions to improve nutritional habits and reduce obesity are warranted between Western nations and Palestine.David Jakabek, Frances Quirk, Martin Driessen, Yousef Aljeesh and Bernhard T Baun

High-potency ligands for DREADD imaging and activation in rodents and monkeys

Designer Receptors Exclusively Activated by Designer Drugs (DREADDs) are a popular chemogenetic technology for manipulation of neuronal activity in uninstrumented awake animals with potential for human applications as well. The prototypical DREADD agonist clozapine N-oxide (CNO) lacks brain entry and converts to clozapine, making it difficult to apply in basic and translational applications. Here we report the development of two novel DREADD agonists, JHU37152 and JHU37160, and the first dedicated 18F positron emission tomography (PET) DREADD radiotracer, [18F]JHU37107. We show that JHU37152 and JHU37160 exhibit high in vivo DREADD potency. [18F]JHU37107 combined with PET allows for DREADD detection in locally-targeted neurons, and at their long-range projections, enabling noninvasive and longitudinal neuronal projection mapping
