Do Drones dream of a Resilient and Sustainable Urban Distribution? A Literature Review

Over the last 20 years, the demand for transport services has grown thanks to increasing globalization and e-commerce exponentially. This led to the rise in externalities (e.g., air pollution, climate change, noise pollution, traffic congestion), an issue that is particularly relevant in urban contexts. The improvement of last-mile delivery processes comes as a natural necessity. The considerable pressure on urban systems was further pushed by the outbreak of COVID-19, which highlighted the need for a delivery system able to provide a fast, resilient and safe contactless solution to reach isolated or quarantined areas with ease. To cope with the abovementioned issues, many authors have been looking toward adopting unmanned aerial vehicles (a.k.a. drones) in logistics. Therefore, this work aims to identify how drones can improve last-mile logistics resilience and sustainability and understand the impact of drones on urban distribution. The following research questions will be answered to achieve these objectives: Which applications of drones to urban distribution have been researched? What is the impact of drones on urban distribution in terms of resilience and sustainability? This paper follows a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The SLR was conducted on the Scopus database and is based on 159 articles. This literature review provides insights into the current state of drone-enhanced urban distribution scientific literature, finds existing gaps and suggests future research opportunities to develop a resilient and sustainable urban distribution system

Satellite and robotic arm combined control for spacecraft close-proximity operations

This work presents the development of the navigation and control subsystems of a guidance, navigation and control (GNC) system for controlling an autonomous satellite, called chaser, equipped with a redundant manipulator. In the study, the capture operations of a target spacecraft and its stabilization are considered. The control function employs a combined control strategy: the chaser satellite actuators and the robotic arm joint motors are degrees of freedom of the same control plant. Robust control methods are used to cope with uncertain, nonlinear dynamics of the chaser and of the complete chaser-target stack after capture. The developed navigation function is based on active or passive electro-optical sensors (i.e., passive cameras and/or LIDARs) for the relative pose determination. A numerical simulator capable of representing the dynamics of the system (chaser, manipulator, target) in orbit is developed in the MATLAB/Simulink environment to validate the developed GNC algorithms. The simulation tool allows to thoroughly assess the GNC system performance, accounting for all the relevant external disturbances and error sources. The simulator interfaces with a synthetic image generator (i.e., PANGU) for relative navigation performance assessment. This paper presents the testing of the GNC system in two relevant In-Orbit Servicing (IOS) scenarios: (1) the servicing of a large GEO platform and (2) the servicing of a small satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO)

Corporate Social Responsibility has increased its relevance both internationally and locally. This research looks forward to deeping the impact of corporate social responsibility in razors purchase behavior of a sample of women segment between 18 and 24 years old that live in Lima. To do this, a methodology experiment has been developed under Discrete Choice Models in order to qualify the purchase intent for social responsibility actions developed by companies. The experiment was conducted using a sample of 132 female consumers that live in Lima. The research provides empirical evidence of the positive relationship between CSR and purchase behavior razors in the sample. Also, the results indicate that the effect of Corporate Social Responsibility as a whole is superior to the Corporate Competences. This thesis is an extension of the scope of the doctoral research of Professor Percy Samoel Marquina Feldman, "The influence of corporate social responsibility on purchase behavior of peruvian consumers" (CENTRUM, Business Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Lima 2009) and seeks to validate whether the relationship originally identified by Professor Marquina also comes in the category of razors, as the author suggests in its final recommendations. With permission of the author, parts of his thesis have been used, specially the review of literature and method.Tesi

The Institute of Investigation magazine IIGEO, from the beginning, is dealing with relevant subjects in mining, the environment and sustainable development. Its incorporation as virtual magazine into the system of libraries (SISBIB) allowed to spread it over a large number of visitors. Subsequently, the magazine was entered into the Indexed Bases like LATINDEC and SCIELO PERU, achieving a major virtual presence in internet. In recent years, we worked for sharing OJS Base (Open Journal System). This initiative is promoted by the UNMSM Vice Rector of investigation in order to incorporate the university institutes of investigationpublications. IIGEO is considered among the best UNMSM virtual magazines like Annals of Medicine (Anales de Medicina), Biological Peruvian Magazine (Revista Peruana de Biología) and Peruvian Investigations of Veterinary Magazine (Revista de Investigaciones Peruanas de Veterinaria)
