No Brasil, existe uma abundância de indústrias líticas pré-históricas realizadas sobre cristal de quartzo. Esta matéria prima tem sido trabalhada tanto pela percussão direta dura, quanto pela percussão sobre bigorna. Neste artigo, propõe-se apresentar as experimentações realizadas referentes à percussão sobre bigorna. Os trabalhos tiveram como guia a metodologia adaptada da Escola Francesa e o Programa Experimental foi baseado nas problemáticas levantadas pelo estudo da coleção lítica proveniente do sítio arqueológico Bibocas II, localizado no município de Jequitaí, estado de Minas Gerais

Repensando a tradição: a variabilidade estilística na arte rupestre do período intermediário de representações no alto-médio rio São Francisco

Este artigo apresenta os principais resultados das análises estilísticocomparativas realizadas em sítios rupestres do norte mineiro e sudoeste baiano: [1] uma periodização hipotética para a arte rupestre regional; [2] a caracterização da distribuição e uso do espaço pelos estilos atribuídos ao período intermediário de ocupação dos suportes; e [3] a caracterização de aspectos gráficos desses estilos, cujo aparecimento e desaparecimento demarcam as rupturas de padrão observadas. Aliada aos resultados da pesquisa empírica, a discussão final sobre a noção de tradição arqueológica reflete sobre as implicações metodológicas desse conceito na arqueologia da arte rupestre.This article presents the main results of the stylistic-comparative analysis carried through in rock art shelters at the north of the Minas Gerais and southwestern of the Bahia: [1] an hypothetical time-line for the regional rock art occurrences, [2] the characterization of the distribution and use of the space by the styles attributed to the intermediate period occupation of supports, and [3] the characterization of the graphical aspects of these styles, whose appearance and disappearance demarcates the observed ruptures of pattern. Allied to the empirical research results, the final quarrel [4] reflect on the methodological implications of the notion of archaeological tradition in rock art archaeology

Automatic Identification of Defects on Eggshell Through a Multispectral Vision System

The objective of this research was to develop an off-line artificial vision system to automatically detect defective eggshells, i.e., dirty or cracked eggshells, by employing multispectral images with the final purpose to adapt the system to an on-line grading machine. In particular, this work was focused to study the feasibility of identifying organic stains on brown eggshells (dirty eggshell), caused by blood, feathers, feces, etc., from natural stains, caused by deposits of pigments on the outer layer of clean eggshells. During the analysis a total of 384 eggs were evaluated (clean: 148, dirty: 236). Dirty samples were evaluated visually in order to classify them according to the kind of defect (blood, feathers, and white, clear or dark feces), and clean eggshells were classified on the basis of the colour of the natural stains (clear or dark). For each sample digital images were acquired by employing a Charged Coupled Device (CCD) camera endowed with 15 monochromatic filters (440-940 nm). A Matlab® function was developed in order to automate the process and analyze images, with the aim to classify samples as clean or dirty. The program was constituted by three major steps: first, the research of an opportune combination of monochromatic images in order to isolate the eggshell from the background; second, the detection of the dirt stains; third, the classification of the images samples into the dirty or clean group on the basis of geometric characteristics of the stains (area in pixel). The proposed classification algorithm was able to correctly classify near 98% of the samples with a very low processing time (0.05s). The robustness of the proposed classification was observed applying an external validation to a second set of samples (n = 178), obtaining similar percentage of correctly classified samples (97%)

RELATÓRIO DO GRUPO DE TRABALHO (GT) PROFISSÃO DE ARQUEÓLOGA/O NO BRASIL, INSTITUÍDO PELA RESOLUÇÃO DA SAB Nº 1/2018

Com o intuito de refletir sobre a regulamentação da profissão de Arqueóloga/o, por meio da Lei nº 13.653/2018, a Sociedade de Arqueologia Brasileira (Sab) instituiu o GT Profissão de Arqueóloga/o no Brasil, para avaliar os encaminhamentos legais possíveis a partir do novo estatuto legal. Para cumprir esse objetivo, apresentam-se neste relatório: a) a natureza jurídica de um conselho profissional e da regulamentação da profissão de Arqueóloga/o; b) as alternativas que se colocam no cenário atual, seja para a criação de um conselho profissional de Arqueologia, seja para a sua inserção em um conselho profissional existente ou em uma autarquia pública do poder executivo; c) os encaminhamentos recomendados à continuidade das negociações para registro e fiscalização profissional
