Composite Fading Models based on Inverse Gamma Shadowing: Theory and Validation

We introduce a general approach to characterize composite fading models based on inverse gamma (IG) shadowing. We first determine to what extent the IG distribution is an adequate choice for modeling shadow fading, by means of a comprehensive test with field measurements and other distributions conventionally used for this purpose. Then, we prove that the probability density function and cumulative distribution function of any IG-based composite fading model are directly expressed in terms of a Laplace-domain statistic of the underlying fast fading model and, in some relevant cases, as a mixture of wellknown state-of-the-art distributions. Also, exact and asymptotic expressions for the outage probability are provided, which are valid for any choice of baseline fading distribution. Finally, we exemplify our approach by presenting several application examples for IG-based composite fading models, for which their statistical characterization is directly obtained in a simple form.Comment: This work has been submitted to the IEEE for publication. Backing off from rayleigh and rice: Achieving perfect secrecy in wireless fading channels

We show that for a legitimate communication under multipath quasi-static fading with a reduced number of scatter- ers, it is possible to achieve perfect secrecy even in the presence of a passive eavesdropper for which no channel state information is available. Specifically, we show that the outage probability of secrecy capacity (OPSC) is zero for a given range of average signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) at the legitimate and eavesdropper’s receivers. Sector Financiero:El Efecto de la Regulación sobre el Sector de las Microfinanzas en Nicaragua Caso de Financiera Fama S,A Año 2008-2014

El presente trabajo analiza el efecto del marco regulatorio en las microfinanzas de Nicaragua. En el mercado microfinanciero en general impera la falta de una adecuada supervisión. Para alcanzar un nivel importante y proporcionar servicios apropiados a sus clientes, las instituciones de microfinanzas necesitan atraer capital privado y movilizar ahorros, para que esto suceda, deben estar reguladas y ser supervisadas, de ahí surge la necesidad de contar con un marco jurídico que permita a las instituciones financieras seguir brindando sus servicios a poblaciones tradicionalmente excluidas del sistema formal en condiciones más propicias para ambos. En Nicaragua la aprobación de la Ley 769: ―Ley de Fomento y Regulación de las Microfinanzas‖ en el año 2011 y la creación de la Comisión Nacional de Microfinanzas (CONAMI), que entró en operaciones en el 2012, le han dado un mayor impulso al sector. La nueva ley busca mejorar la transparencia de las tasa de interés. Las instituciones microfinancieras pueden fijar sus tasas, pero la regulación prohíbe agregar otros cargos a los prestatarios e impone máximos imputables para los cobros por pagos atrasados

Psychosocial Risk Factors from the Perception of Women Researchers Belonging to the SNI

This investigation had the objective to identify the perception of women holding PhD degrees awarded by the National Researchers System (SNI) regarding five work environment psychosocial risk factors, stress, burnout, mobbing, work-family integration and gender. A qualitative research was performed involving six female researchers working in either public or private institutions. A content analysis technique was used to process the information procured through a semi-structured interview. Work-related stress was found to be part of their lives determined by excess of work with subsequent physical and emotional manifestations; burnout and mobbing were not a constant as not all had experienced them; work-family integration had not been achieved, often resulting in conflict particularly at a certain stage of life when children were young; and, finally, with regard to gender, there were negative stereotypes concerning the role in their field of research

Enhancement in the Photoluminescence Properties of SiO2:Ge Embedded in a Polymeric Matrix

Polymer films of styrene butadiene copolymer (SBC) mixed with SiO2:Ge powder were successfully obtained by the drop casting method. The SBC concentration (in chloroform solution) was 10%w/v and the SiO2:Ge powder was mixed (mass ratio 80:20 respectively). The thicknesses of the films obtained were 50, 100, and 200 μm. In addition, polymer films of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) preparation (60% dispersion in water), were obtained mixing 2 ml of PTFE and 0.05g of SiO2:Ge powder with a mass relation of 98% polymer and 2% SiO2:Ge. The photoluminescence emission spectra (PL) of SBC doped with SiO2:Ge resulted in similar characteristics to those for SiO2:Ge powders, although their intensity shows an increase 3.5 times approximately, compared with the pure powder. On the other hand, the PTFE films with SiO2:Ge present just one peak in the PL emission at 439 nm but their intensity increases 18 times respect to the powder. The photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra of the SiO2:Ge powders show the characteristic peaks at 248 nm (most intense) and at 366 nm. However, when the powder is embedded either in SBC or PTFE the peak at 366 nm shows an important increase which seems to indicate an energy transfer from the polymer to the SiO2:Ge

Propuesta para la estandarización del proceso de mantenimiento locativo de oficinas a nivel nacional en la compañía Nueva Empresa Promotora de Salud “Nueva Eps”, buscando la optimización de tiempo y recursos.

Actualmente en Nueva EPS no se cuenta con un proceso estandarizado de mantenimiento que permita llevar el control de la operación en la atención de solicitudes de mantenimiento y la ejecución de los mantenimientos locativos según el cronograma, lo que debilita el seguimiento y control a la ejecución presupuestal. Estandarizar el proceso de mantenimiento dentro de Nueva EPS ayudará a generar políticas de atención de solicitudes de mantenimiento con tiempos de respuesta ajustados a la realidad, a tener documentos soporte para la medición de los indicadores, a incluir documentos para el diligenciamiento de las necesidades por del cliente interno que representarán una herramienta de apoyo al proceso, motivando el uso adecuado de los recursos destinados para el mantenimiento. Se buscará dar lineamientos a los funcionarios en cada oficina de cómo se procede para solicitar un mantenimiento correctivo o un mantenimiento preventivo al inmueble donde opere Nueva EPS, así como informar la disponibilidad de los recursos. Buscando conservar los inmuebles en óptimas condiciones tanto para usuarios como para funcionarios de la compañía mitigando los hallazgos de ente auditor en este caso la Secretaría de Salud quien podría generar hallazgos o clausurar un inmueble si este no cuenta con instalaciones aptas tanto en pintura, iluminación, baños pisos, sillas de sala de espera, techos y similares en buen estado. Se evidenció dentro Nueva EPS el comportamiento de la ejecución de mantenimiento a oficinas en la vigencia 2017 y 2018 encontrando que no existen lineamientos claros para la atención de solicitudes de mantenimiento que tienen las personas y para la atención de necesidades en oficinas. PALABRAS CLAVES: Mejoramiento de procesos, control de procesos, reparaciones locativas, planificación.Currently, in Nueva EPS, there is no standardized maintenance process that allows to control the operation of handling maintenance requests and the execution of the locative maintenance according to the schedule, which weakens the monitoring and control of the budget execution. Standardizing the maintenance process within “Nueva EPS” will promote the formulation of service maintenance policies in response to times adjusted to reality that will offer evidence of measurable indicators, to give evidence of internal customer requests that will provide a supporting tool for the maintenance process and motivating the proper use of resources allocated for maintenance. Nueva EPS will assure optimal maintenance of the property for both customers and officials, reducing possible damages identified by the Secretary of Health, who would close the facilities in such case that property physical conditions such as painting, lighting, toilet floors, waiting room chairs and ceilings are not met. During period 2017 and 2018 Nueva EPS found that office maintenance process didn´t have guidelines for managing maintenance requests neither from customers nor from offices. Marxismo y ateísmo. Recuperando el debate

Marxism is often identified with the outright rejection of religion. Two recent publications look at this simplification: El dispositivo Karl Marx, by Juan Manuel Aragüés, and the compilation of Marx's texts Sobre la religión, with a preliminary study by Reyes Mate and José A. Zamora. In this article we are going to read these two works in tandem. We intend to shed new light on the problem of atheism, not just looking at the most recent contributions, but also by returning to Marx’s texts. The theoretical atheism of Marx should not be oversimplified and indeed one must see it as a consequence of his materialist conception of history, which is compatible with the practical humanism of those who share his goal of a politics of emancipation.El marxismo se suele identificar con un rechazo sin matices de la religión. Dos publicaciones recientes afrontan esta simplificación: El dispositivo Karl Marx, de Juan Manuel Aragüés, y la recopilación de textos de Marx Sobre la religión, con estudio preliminar de Reyes Mate y José A. Zamora. En esta nota vamos a hacer una lectura cruzada de dichos trabajos. Pretendemos revitalizar el problema del ateísmo no sólo desde las contribuciones más recientes, sino también retornando a los textos de Marx.
