Se explica cómo se realiza la catalogación en la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Cádiz. Se comienza el proceso con la importación de ficheros con registros MARC21 a Koha que posteriormente se normalizan. Se describen dos formas de tratar los registros dependiendo de los Campus; desde el Campus de Cádiz, las cargas de registros se hacen en el Servicio Central y a través de informes SQL guardados en el sistema se hace una catalogación “virtual” sin libros en mano. En los restantes Campus (Jerez, Puerto Real y Algeciras) se cargan los ficheros y con los libros físicos se catalogan y normalizan. También destacamos dos funcionalidades de Koha: cómo asociar al registro bibliográfico (música o vídeos) con enlaces externos; y la inclusión de cubiertas asociadas al ISBN

Utility of noninvasive ventilation in high-risk patients during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography

Background: There is little evidence on noninvasive ventilation (NIV) preventing respiratory complications in high-risk patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. Objectives: The objective of this study is to demonstrate that the application of NIV through a nasal interface can prevent the appearance of ventilatory alterations during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in patients with risk factors associated with the development of hypoventilation. Patients and Methods: A non-randomized interventional study was performed on 37 consecutive high-risk patients undergoing ERCP. During the procedure, 21 patients received oxygen by nasal cannula (3 L/minute) and sixteen received NIV through a nasal mask. Arterial blood gas analyses were conducted before and immediately after the ERCP. An Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) score pre-ERCP was recorded. The complications during the procedure were recorded. Results: The groups with and without NIV were comparable. A post-ERCP pH of 45 mmHg was found in one case (6.3%) in the NIV-group and in nine cases in the nasal cannula group (42.9%; P = 0.01). The median pCO 2 post-ERCP was lower (36.5 ± 6.2 vs. 44.5 ± 6.8 mmHg) (P = 0.001) and median pH post-ERCP was higher (7.41 ± 0.4 vs. 7.34 ± 0.5) (P = 0.001) in patients treated with NIV. In the multivariate analysis, after adjusting for gender, the APACHE score, pH and pCO 2 pre-ERCP, age, propofol doses, and procedure duration, the following differences were maintained (pCO 2 difference = 5.54, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) =2.3 - 8.7, pH difference = 0.047, and 95% CI = 0.013 - 0.081). Among the 37 procedures, four complications occurred: One in the NIV group and three in the nasal cannula group. None of them was related to NIV. Conclusions: Our preliminary results demonstrate that in high-risk patients undergoing ERCP, hypercapnia and respiratory acidosis are frequent. NIV prevents the appearance of these complications

On the transfructosylation activity and selectivity of microbial beta-fructofuranosidases for the production of prebiotics

We have purified a fructosyltransferase from Aspergillus aculeatus present in commercial samples of Pectinex Ultra SP-L. We have also isolated and purified extracellular beta-fructofuranosidases from cultures of the yeasts Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous (formerly Phaffia rhodozyma, Schwanniomyces occidentalis and Rhodotorula gracilis. The transferase activity of these enzymes was analysed in detail, along with that of beta-fructofuranosidase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Interestingly, the maximum FOS yield (expressed as weight percentage of the total amount of carbohydrates in the mixture) was significantly higher with the enzyme from A. aculeatus (61%), compared with those from X. dendrorhous, S. occidentalis and R. gracilis (17-19 %), and that from S. cerevisiae (8%). In addition, significant differences were encountered in the selectivity of the process: A. aculeatus synthesized only 1F-FOS, X. dendrorhous formed basically neo-kestose, whereas S. occidentalis and S. cerevisiae were selective towards the production of 6-kestose. El vídeo en la escuela

Se propone una actividad docente, basada en la imagen, que sea alternativa a la enseñanza tradicional. El objetivo principal es organizar un taller de vídeo entre profesores de distintos colegios de Coslada, con el fin de organizar actividades docentes en el municipio. En este taller participan, además del Ayuntamiento, profesores de Ciencias Naturales y Sociales, Lenguaje, Idiomas y Plástica. Los trabajos que se realizan son la formación de una videoteca municipal, sesiones de videoforum y montaje audiovisual sobre diversos aspectos de la vida de Coslada y de la Comunidad de Madrid. Se incluye un calendario de actividades y una relación de trabajos que se lleva a cabo en cada una de las áreas implicadas en el proyecto..Madrid (Comunidad Autónoma).
