In this work we perform a comparison of two different numerical schemes for the solution of the time-fractional diffusion equation with variable diffusion coefficient and a nonlinear source term. The two methods are the implicit numerical scheme presented in [M.L. Morgado, M. Rebelo, Numerical approximation of distributed order reaction- diffusion equations, Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics 275 (2015) 216-227] that is adapted to our type of equation, and a colocation method where Chebyshev polynomials are used to reduce the fractional differential equation to a system of ordinary differential equationsCOMPETE, FEDER and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT)) through Strategic Projects - LA 25 – 2013-2014, PTDC/EME- MFE/113988/2009 and EXPL/CTM-POL/1299/2013. The article fears to investigate the bioclimatic quality of a school building located on the Brazilian coast (city of Recife-PE), which announces promoting sustainability through the building. For or development of the research carried out or methodological process: Queue of documents and bibliographic research of the school; Visit or school; Theoretical foundations of environmental quality and bioclimatic architecture; Bioclimatic analysis of the school. Or the building was designed as a way to perform in terms of the environmental point of view, I did not want to discard any amount of energy consumption. It appears that the building's sustainability appears to be an advertising strategy and search for environmental quality, in order to effectively promote sustainability from a holistic point of view.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Blood Cells Mol Dis. 2001 Jul-Aug;27(4):731-43. Immunophenotypic characterization of normal blood CD56+lo versus CD56+hi NK-cell subsets and its impact on the understanding of their tissue distribution and functional properties. Lima M, Teixeira MA, Queirós ML, Leite M, Santos AH, Justiça B, Orfão A. Service of Clinical Hematology, Unit of Cytometry, Hospital Geral de Santo António, Porto, Portugal. [email protected] Abstract In the present study we have compared the immunophenotypic characteristics of the CD56+lo and CD56+hi NK-cell subsets in a group of normal healthy adults. Our results show that CD56+hi NK-cells display greater light-scatter properties than CD56+lo NK-cells at the same time they have higher levels of CD25 and CD122 IL-2 chains, together with a higher reactivity for HLA-DR and CD45RO and lower levels of CD45RA, supporting that, as opposed to the majority of the CD56+lo population, CD56+hi NK-cells might correspond to a subset of activated circulating NK-lymphocytes. Higher expression of the CD2 and CD7 costimulatory molecules found for the CD56+hi NK-cells would support their greater ability to respond to various stimuli. In addition, CD56+hi NK-cells expressed higher levels of several adhesion molecules such as CD2, CD11c, CD44, CD56, and CD62L compared to CD56+lo NK-cells, supporting a particular ability of these cells to migrate from blood to tissues and/or a potential advantage to form conjugates with target cells. Interestingly, CD56+lo and CD56+hi NK-cells showed a different pattern of expression of killer receptors that might determine different activation requirements for each of these NK-cell subsets. For instance, absence or low levels of CD16 expression might explain the lower antibody-dependent cytotoxicity activity of CD56+hi NK-cells. On the other hand, the virtual absence of expression of the CD158a and NKB1 immunoglobulin-like and the greater reactivity for the CD94 lectin-like killer receptors on CD56+hi in comparison to CD56+lo NK-cells might determine different MHC-class I specificities for both NK-cell subsets, a possibility that deserves further studies to be confirmed. Constatou-se que o edifício possui uma série de dispositivos bioclimários, o que contribuiria no controle do desperdício de energia e na qualidade ambiental do edifício, no entanto alguns moradores interviram nesses arranjos obstruindo as aberturas (peitoril ventilado e brises verticais), modificando o desempenho do edifício.ABSTRACT: Delfim Amorim, modernist architect of the Acaica building, used constructive bioclimatic arrangements (ventilated sill, generous openings, fixed vertical windshields and cobogós), in order to optimize the use of natural resources (natural ventilation and natural lighting) within the building and promote comfort to users. The objective of the article is through the three-dimensional modeling of the Acaiaca building (using the Blender software), to evaluate the construction arrangements, which can promote the building's bioclimatic quality. For the development of the research, the methodological path was carried out: Documentary collection and bibliographic research of Acaiaca; Visit to the building; Theoretical deepening on environmental quality and bioclimatic architecture; Analysis of the environmental quality of Acaiaca. It was found that the building has a series of bioclimatic devices, which would contribute to the control of energy waste and the environmental quality of the building, however some residents intervened in these arrangements by blocking the openings (ventilated sill and vertical breezes), modifying the performance of the building.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Coastal ecosystems of northeastern Brazil have important biodiversity with regard to marine mollusks, which are insufficiently studied. Here we provide an inventory of mollusks from two sites in the estuary of the Paraíba River. Mollusks were collected in 2014 and 2016 on the coast and sandbanks located on the properties of Treze de Maio and Costinha de Santo Antônio. The malacofaunal survey identified 12 families, 20 genera and 21 species of bivalves, 17 families, 19 genera and 20 species of gastropods and one species of cephalopod. Bivalves of the family Veneridae Rafinesque, 1815 were the most representative, with a total of five species. Gastropods of the family Littorinidae Children, 1834 had the greatest species richness. The most abundant species were: Neritina virginea (Linnaeus, 1758), Brachidontes exustus (Linnaeus, 1758), Crassostrea brasiliana (Lamarck, 1819), Cerithium atratum (Born, 1778), Anomalocardia brasiliana (Gmelin, 1791), Parvanachis obesa (C. B. Adams, 1845), Phrontis polygonata (Lamarck, 1822), Littoraria angulifera (Lamarck, 1822), L. flava (King, 1832), Tagelus plebeius (Lightfoot, 1786), Echinolittorina lineolata (d’Orbigny, 1840) and Iphigenia brasiliensis (Lamarck, 1818). The results show that the study area has considerable species richness of Mollusca, requiring environmental monitoring in the region mainly due to the economic importance of some species to the local population. © 2017, Universidade Estadual de Campinas UNICAMP. The purpose of this study was to assess the precision of the 1-RM prediction equations proposed by Adams (1994), Baechle and Groves (2000), Brzycki (1993), Epley (1985), Lander (1985) and O’Conner et al. (1989) for strength assessment in fitness programs. Thirty one healthy regular strength training male practitioners (mean ± SD: 21.8 ± 4.0 years of age; 75.9 ± 8.4 kg of weight; and 178.1 ± 6.4 cm of height) performed two tests on the bench press exercise: (a) maximum test - determination of the 1-RM load; and (b) submaximum test - determination of the load matching 4 to 10 maximum repetitions. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) found no significant difference (p > .05) between maximum load determination through prediction equations or through the 1-RM test. The coefficient of determination (r2) varied from .94 to .96. The prediction equations had small standard error of estimate (2.7 to 3.2 kg). Results indicate that the 1-RM prediction equations could be used to determine the maximum load at the bench press exercise in subjects with low strength training experience

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to compare the effects of a combination of aerobic and resistance training to those of isolated aerobic training on blood pressure, body composition, and insulin sensitivity in hypertensive older adults. METHOD: Forty-four patients were randomly assigned to the aerobic group, resistance and aerobic group, and control group. Before and after 10 weeks, the following data were obtained: 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure data, abdominal circumference, waist circumference, body mass index, lean mass, fat mass, and insulin sensitivity. The study was conducted with 3 training sessions per week. RESULTS: Comparison revealed significant reductions in the body mass index, abdominal and waist circumferences, and ambulatory blood pressure (24-hour, wakefulness and sleep systolic/diastolic blood pressures) in both the aerobic group and the resistance and aerobic (combined) group. The fat mass only changed in the combined group. There was no difference in the insulin sensitivity in any group. CONCLUSIONS: The combined treatment and aerobic treatment alone were equally effective in reducing the blood pressure, body mass index, and abdominal and waist circumferences, although the addition of the resistance component also helped reduce the fat mass
