Well-being and satisfaction with life in students aged between 14-17 years at the Community of Madrid
Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT, Mayer, Salovey y Caruso,
en determinadas materias, así como diferencias significativas en función del género o las necesidades específicas de apoyo educativoThe implications that an adequate managing of the emotions has for the psychosocial

Teachers’ subjective well-being and satisfaction with life

the last three decades. As a logical consequence, this need has resulted in the investigation
of these aspects in the school environment, specifically in the teaching staff. Research
about teachers well-being have increased considerably in number, mainly due to the
notable changes in the sector. The aim of this paper is to analyze the subjective well-being
and satisfaction with life of the professionals who dedicate themselves to teaching in
different educational stages and the influence of these variables on several aspects. These
welfare measures have been collected from 180 teachers of Madrid. The instruments used
to collect the data were the Psychological Well-being Scale for Adults [BIEPS-A]
(Casullo, 2002) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale [SWLS] (Diener, Emmons, Larsen

Multiscale assessment of woody species recruitment in Mediterranean shrublands: facilitation and beyond
Forest recovery in Mediterranean environments is influenced by factors such as aridity, herbivory and facilitation by shrubs, as well as by seed limitation in the case of highly fragmented forests. How these various factors interact can determine the direction of secondary succession, yet these interactions are poorly understood. We assessed the relative importance of several factors in forest species recruitment in Retama sphaerocarpa (L.) Boiss (Retama) shrublands at different spatial scales.Ministerio de Economía y CompetitividadComunidad de Madri

Review of plants with hepatoprotective activity evaluated in Mexico
Liver diseases represent a major health problem around the world. in Mexico these are the 5th leading cause of death in the economically active population. in Mexico, it is estimated that about 60% of the population uses some medicine from plants to treat their illnesses. The purpose of this work was to search for medicinal plants in Mexico that have been evaluated for their hepatoprotective effect in different models. in this review we found only 13 plants evaluated for hepatoprotective activity: Amole tuber, Cochlospermum vitifolium, Heterotheca inuloides, Hibiscus sabdariffa, Leucophyllum frutescens, Prostechea michuacana, Psidium Guajava, Rosmarinus officinalis, Verbena Carolin, Centaurea americana, Juglans mollis, Krameria ramossisima and Turnera diffusa. This study describes the studies conducted in Mexico for each of them and the international literature reports of pharmacological and phytochemical studies
In vitro assessment of hepatoprotective agents against damage induced by acetaminophen and CCl4
Abstract Background: In vitro bioassays are important in the evaluation of plants with possible hepatoprotective effects. The aims of this study were to evaluate the pretreatment of HepG2 cells with hepatoprotective agents against the damage induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and paracetamol (APAP). Methods: Antioxidative activity was measured using an assay to measure 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging. The in vitro hepatotoxicity of CCl4 and APAP, and the cytotoxic and hepatoprotective properties of silymarin (SLM), silybinin (SLB), and silyphos (SLP) were evaluated by measuring cell viability; activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH); total antioxidant capacity (TAOxC); and reduced glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde (MDA) levels). Results: Only SLB and SLM showed strong antioxidative activity in the DPPH assay (39.71±0.85 μg/mL and 14.14±0. 65 μg/mL, respectively). CCl4 induced time- and concentration-dependent changes. CCl4 had significant effects on cell viability, enzyme activities, lipid peroxidation, TAOxC, and SOD and GSH levels. These differences remained significant up to an exposure time of 3 h. APAP induced a variety of dose- and time-dependent responses up to 72 h of exposure. SLM, SLB, and SLP were not cytotoxic. Only SLB at a concentration of 100 μg/mL or 150 μg/mL significantly decreased the enzyme activities and MDA level, and prevented depletion of total antioxidants compared with CCl4. Conclusions: CCl4 was more consistent than APAP in inducing cell injury. Only SLB provided hepatoprotection. AST, LDH, and MDA levels were good markers of liver damage. Osmoregulatory Plasticity of Juvenile Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili) to Environmental Salinity
Osmotic costs in teleosts are highly variable, reaching up to 50% of energy expenditure in some. In several species, environmental salinities close to the isosmotic point (similar to 15 psu) minimize energy demand for osmoregulation while enhancing growth. The present study aimed to characterize the physiological status related to osmoregulation in early juveniles of the greater amberjack, Seriola dumerili, acclimated to three salinities (15, 22, and 36 psu). Our results indicate that plasma metabolic substrates were enhanced at the lower salinities, whereas hepatic carbohydrate and energetic lipid substrates decreased. Moreover, osmoregulatory parameters, such as osmolality, muscle water content, gill and intestine Na+-K+-ATPase activities, suggested a great osmoregulatory capacity in this species. Remarkably, electrophysiological parameters, such as short-circuit current (Isc) and transepithelial electric resistance (TER), were enhanced significantly at the posterior intestine. Concomitantly, Isc and TER anterior-to-posterior intestine differences were intensified with increasing environmental salinity. Furthermore, the expression of several adeno-hypophyseal genes was assessed. Expression of prl showed an inverse linear relationship with increasing environmental salinity, while gh mRNA enhanced significantly in the 22 psu-acclimated groups. Overall, these results could explain the better growth observed in S. dumerili juveniles kept at salinities close to isosmotic rather than in seawater. This research was funded by Project "Diversificacion de la Acuicultura Espanola mediante la optimizacion del cultivo de Seriola dumerili" JACUMAR 2016 (MAPAMA) and Fondo Europeo Maritimo y de Pesca (FEMP). Renewed perspective planning as option for development. Analysis of the case
ABSTRACT: This paper focuses its attention on the research`s results “Planning as an option for development: A
Contemporary Bet. Case study Participative Budget, 2004-2007, Comuna 1, Municipality of Medellín”,
such research was done in the framework of a formative research process, by Social Workers of the Universidad de Antioquia. In this study a renewed perspective of planning for development is analyzed in depth which is also involved in contextual conditions as well as its materialization in a territory. The theoretical strengthening, in the development as well as in the planning, is proposed through contemporary authors who contribute to make clear new elements and associations that justify planning as an option for development. The case documentation: Participative Planning and Budget Program of the Comuna 1 of the
Municipality of Medellín made possible to analyze it from the theoretical elements exposed, allowing the
identification of some tensions and challenges that existing development projects currently face. Based
on the involving of theory-praxis, methodological strategies are designed to guide planning processes
for the territory development; leading to place it as a social intervention process. This contribution
becomes a helpful path, for educational practices as well as Professional ones, in the Social Work and
Human and Social Sciences.RESUMEN: El presente artículo se basa en los resultados de la investigación “La planeación como opción para el

Variability of blood eosinophil count and prognosis of COPD exacerbations
MPOC; Eosinofília; ExacerbacióEPOC; Eosinofilia; ExacerbaciónCOPD; Eosinophilia; ExacerbationBackground
Eosinophils in peripheral blood are one of the emerging biomarkers in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients. However, when analysing the relationship between peripheral eosinophilia and COPD prognosis, highly variable results are obtained. The aim of our study is to describe the serum eosinophilia levels in COPD patients and to analyse their relationship to prognosis following hospital admission.
Methods
A prospective observational study was conducted from 1 October 2016 to 1 October 2018 in the following Spanish centres: Salnés County Hospital in Vilagarcía de Arousa, Arquitecto Marcide Hospital in Ferrol and the University Hospital Complex in Santiago de Compostela. The patients were classified using three cut-off points of blood eosinophil count (BEC): 150 cells/µL, 300 cells/µL, and 400 cells/µL; in addition, the peripheral BEC was analysed on admission.
Results
615 patients were included in the study, 86.2% male, mean age 73.9 years, and mean FEV1 52.7%. The mean stay was 8.4 days, and 6% of all patients were readmitted early. No significant relationship was observed between the BEC, neither in the stable phase nor in the acute phase, and hospital stay, readmissions, deaths during admission, the need for intensive care, or the condition of frequent exacerbator.
Conclusion
The results of our study do not seem to support the usefulness of BEC as a COPD biomarker. This paper has not been funded by any project or scholarship
