The Impact of Accurate Extinction Measurements for X-ray Spectral Models
Interstellar extinction includes both absorption and scattering of photons
from interstellar gas and dust grains, and it has the effect of altering a
source's spectrum and its total observed intensity. However, while multiple
absorption models exist, there are no useful scattering models in standard
X-ray spectrum fitting tools, such as XSPEC. Nonetheless, X-ray halos, created
by scattering from dust grains, are detected around even moderately absorbed
sources and the impact on an observed source spectrum can be significant, if
modest, compared to direct absorption. By convolving the scattering cross
section with dust models, we have created a spectral model as a function of
energy, type of dust, and extraction region that can be used with models of
direct absorption. This will ensure the extinction model is consistent and
enable direct connections to be made between a source's X-ray spectral fits and
its UV/optical extinction.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure
Examining Our Relationship with Death: A Participatory Art Project
Death is a fact of life, yet researchers such as Caitlin Doughty, Todd Harra, Ernest Becker, and others, have found that people deem death a taboo topic of conversation. Doughty herself started a social movement, death positivity, to encourage this taboo to be broken, and to normalize talking about death. However these researchers published their findings in the early to mid 2010’s, before a major pandemic made death a more common occurrence for people. Inspired by previous researchers\u27 experiences, this project asks the question: How do people feel about death now, and can socially engaged art create a space where people feel comfortable sharing these feelings?
My research and participatory art projects aim to allow a space where conversations can happen by foregrounding the project in artmaking as a vehicle for sharing thoughts and fears. Through the creation of art participants will have the chance to create something that represents their feelings on death and give them a chance to process those feelings while they create. This will serve as a pathway for them to visualize their feelings as well as offering an outlet that may not be available elsewhere. I also created an opportunity for them to have conversations with the people around them about their feelings. Socially engaged art relies on audience members participating and sharing their thoughts to create a conversation that can lead to social change. By creating an environment where people will be comfortable with having conversations with others and exchanging ideas, people can walk away with new perspectives on issues they may not have considered before. This project created that space for people to come together and form a community where people can create art together about death while also feeling comfortable talking with the people around them
Telaah Literatur Tentang Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Konservatisme Akuntansi
This paper examine several factor that impact to accounting conservatism practice. Conservatism is commonly defined as the differential verifiability required for recognition of profits versus losses. Regardless of the different opinion about role of accounting conservatism, in fact, this principle is still in uses until now and be one of the dominant principle in accounting. Through this article the author do review of several previous studies about accounting conservatism at Indonesia and other country. From several review we conclude that accounting conservatism is affected by factors of contracting, litigation risk, political costs, regulations, financial distress and conflict of interest between shareholders and bondholders
On the relativistic iron line and soft excess in the Seyfert 1 galaxy Markarian 335
We report on a 133 ks XMM-Newton observation of the Seyfert 1 galaxy
Markarian 335. The 0.4-12 keV spectrum contains an underlying power law
continuum, a soft excess below 2 keV, and a double-peaked iron emission feature
in the 6-7 keV range. We investigate the possibility that the double-peaked
emission might represent the characteristic signature of the accretion disc.
Detailed investigations show that a moderately broad, accretion disc line is
most likely present, but that the peaks may be owing to narrower components
from more distant material. The peaks at 6.4 and 7 keV can be identified,
respectively, with the molecular torus in active galactic nucleus unification
schemes, and very highly ionized, optically thin gas filling the torus. The
X-ray variability spectra on both long (~100 ks) and short (~1 ks) timescales
disfavour the recent suggestion that the soft excess is an artifact of

PERSEPSI DAN PREFERENSI PENGUNJUNG TENTANG OBJEK WISATA GEOPARK CILETUH KABUPATEN SUKABUMI
Objek Wisata Geopark Ciletuh merupakan salah satu wisata alam di Kabupaten Sukabumi yang letaknya di Kecamatan Ciemas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi persepsi dan preferensi pengunjung terhadap objek wisata di Geopark Ciletuh, dan untuk mengetahui gap antara persepsi dengan preferensi pengunjung terhadap Obyek Wisata Geopark Ciletuh Kabupaten Sukabumi. Metode penelitian digunakan adalah analisis gap dan kuadran. Data primer diperoleh melalui kuesioner serta data sekunder diperoleh dari dinas-dinas terkait. Hasil analisis gap antara persepsi dan preferensi pengunjung didapatkan dari dua puluh tujuh atribut terdapat dua puluh diantarnya memiliki nilai negatif dan tujuh atribut bernilai positif. Kesenjangan terbesar terjadi pada atribut keberadaan tempat kesehatan dengan nilai gap sebesar -207, dan kesenjangan terkecil ada pada keberadaan restoran, warung makan, pertokoan dengan nilai gap sebesar -14. Sedangkan atribut yang memiliki nilai positif tertinggi ada pada kelancaran lalu lintas menuju objek wisata dengan nilai gap sebesar 44, dan nilai positif terkecil ada keberadaan pasir putih dengan nilai gap sebesar 2. Hasil analisis kuadran menunjukan ada empat atribut pada kuadran I sebagai prioritas utama untuk ditingkatkan kinerjanya. Atribut-atribut pada kuadran I ini dianggap penting oleh responden tetapi kinerjanya buruk dalam melayani pengunjung. Pada kuadran II terdapat enam atribut yang yang harus dipertahankan. Dua belas atribut terletak kuadran III sebagai prioritas rendah. Dan dua atribut sisanya berada di kuadran IV. Kinerja Geopark Ciletuh masih di bawah harapan pengunjung yang ditunjukan dengan atribut terbanyak berada kuadran III. Aspek kinerja daya tarik dirasakan sudah baik sedangkan aspek servis/pelayanan dirasakan kurang.

The symbiotic binary system RX Puppis: a possible recurrent nova with a Mira companion
We present an analysis of photometric and spectroscopic observations of the
symbiotic binary system RX Pup with the aims of developing a reliable binary
for the system and identifying mechanisms responsible for its spectacular
activity. The binary is composed of a long-perod Mira variable surrounded by a
thick dust shell and a hot white dwarf companion. The hot component produces
practically all activity observed in the UV, optical and radio range, while
variable obscuration of the Mira by circumstellar dust is responsible for
long-term changes in the near-IR magnitudes. The observations show RX Pup
underwent a nova-like eruption during the last three decades. The hot component
contracted in radius at roughly constant luminosity from 1975 to 1986, and was
the source of a strong stellar wind which prevented it from accreting material
lost in the Mira wind. Around 1988/9 the hot component turned over in the HR
diagram and by 1991 its luminosity had faded by a factor of about 30 with
respect to the maximum plateau value and the hot wind had practically ceased.
By 1995 the nova remnant started to accrete material from the Mira wind, as
indicated by a general increase in intensity of the optical continuum and HI
emission. The quiescent spectrum resembles the quiescent spectra of symbiotic
recurrent novae, and its intensity indicates the hot component must accrete as
much as about 1 per cent of the Mira wind, which is more or less the amount
predicted by Bondi-Hoyle theory. The earliest observational records from the
1890s suggest that another nova-like eruption of RX Pup occurred around 1894.Comment: 23 pages, 12 figues, MNRAS - accepte
