National Income, Strategic Discontinuity, and Converging Trajectories of Macroeconomic Policy Initiatives: An Empirical Study of China
The framework of converging trajectories of macroeconomic policy initiatives is employed in the context of strategic discontinuity to study the national income of an advancing economy. A model of systemic changes based upon an equation of production and consumption is presented. In this study of the Chinese economy of 1980-2014, over time, the dynamics of policy imbalance is found to decrease considerably, which is consistent with the decreasing trend of shrinking the differences among the impact coefficients of government consumption, private investment, and private consumption
Decays of and into vector and pseudoscalar meson and the pseudoscalar glueball- mixing
We introduce a parametrization scheme for where
the effects of SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking and doubly OZI-rule violation
(DOZI) can be parametrized by certain parameters with explicit physical
interpretations. This scheme can be used to clarify the glueball-
mixing within the pseudoscalar mesons. We also include the contributions from
the electromagnetic (EM) decays of and via
. Via study of the isospin violated
channels, such as , ,
and , reasonable constraints on the EM decay
contributions are obtained. With the up-to-date experimental data for
, and , etc, we arrive at a consistent description of the mentioned
processes with a minimal set of parameters. As a consequence, we find that
there exists an overall suppression of the form factors,
which sheds some light on the long-standing " puzzle". By determining
the glueball components inside the pseudoscalar and in
three different glueball- mixing schemes, we deduce that the lowest
pseudoscalar glueball, if exists, has rather small component, and it

The Population Migration in Taiwan, and its Causal Relationship with Labor Market and Housing Market
[[abstract]]This study sets out to empirically examine the interrelationship existing between the labor market, the housing market and domestic interregional migration in Taiwan, with four of the most urbanized population receiving areas, Taipei City, Taipei County, Taichung City and Kaohsiung City, being selected for the study. An error correction model is constructed for each city/county using time series data covering the period from 1974 to 1999, from which the research results show that each city/county has its own unique relational pattern between population migration, the labor market and the housing market, reflecting their different characteristics and developmental stages. In Taipei City, the capital city of Taiwan, housing prices are much higher, although this has not been affected by migration or the labor market, since it is instead exogenously determined. In Taipei County, on the other hand, which is part of the Taipei metropolitan area and the major population migration destination, a close interaction exists between housing prices and population migration. As a latecomer in urban development, the relatively better organized city planning in Taichung City was reflected in all variables as being affected by the exogenous variable, local government expenditure. Although the industrialized city of Kaohsiung is faced with the growing problem of a loss of jobs, along with a housing market recession in recent years, the city’s net population migration has thus far been unaffected
Neutrino Oscillations in Supersymmetry without Lepton number conservation and R-parity
With the on-shell renormalization scheme, we discuss neutrino masses up to
one-loop approximation in the Supersymmetry without lepton number conservation
and R-parity. Ii is shown that in this model with experimentally allowed
parameters, and the mixing angles
which are consistent with the present
observation values can be produced. We find that small neutrino mass ( 1
eV) sets a loose constraint on the R-parity violation parameters in the soft

The Decays to -wave Charmonium by Improved Bethe-Salpeter Approach
We re-calculate the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of
meson to a -wave charmonium in terms of the improved Bethe-Salpeter (B-S)
approach, which is developed recently. Here the widths for the exclusive
semileptonic and nonleptonic decays, the form factors, and the charged lepton
spectrums for the semileptonic decays are precisely calculated. To test the
concerned approach by comparing with experimental measurements when the
experimental data are available, and to have comparisons with the other
approaches the results obtained by the approach and those by some approaches
else as well as the original B-S approach, which appeared in literature, are

The lifetime of B_c-meson and some relevant problems
The lifetime of the B_c-meson is estimated with consistent considerations on
all of the heavy mesons () and the double
heavy meson B_c. In the estimate, the framework, where the non-spectator
effects for nonleptonic decays are taken into account properly, is adopted, and
the parameters needed to be fixed are treated carefully and determined by
fitting the available data. The bound-state effects in it are also considered.
We find that in decays of the meson B_c, the QCD correction terms of the
penguin diagrams and the main component terms c_1O_1, c_2O_2 of the effective
interaction Lagrangian have direct interference that causes an enhancement
about 3 ~ 4% in the total width of the B_c meson.Comment: 27 pages, 0 figur
Compression of Structured High-Throughput Sequencing Data
Large biological datasets are being produced at a rapid pace and create substantial storage challenges, particularly in the domain of high-throughput sequencing (HTS). Most approaches currently used to store HTS data are either unable to quickly adapt to the requirements of new sequencing or analysis methods (because they do not support schema evolution), or fail to provide state of the art compression of the datasets. We have devised new approaches to store HTS data that support seamless data schema evolution and compress datasets substantially better than existing approaches. Building on these new approaches, we discuss and demonstrate how a multi-tier data organization can dramatically reduce the storage, computational and network burden of collecting, analyzing, and archiving large sequencing datasets. For instance, we show that spliced RNA-Seq alignments can be stored in less than 4% the size of a BAM file with perfect data fidelity. Compared to the previous compression state of the art, these methods reduce dataset size more than 40% when storing exome, gene expression or DNA methylation datasets. Isospin Effects in Nuclear Multifragmentation
We develop an improved Statistical Multifragmentation Model that provides the
capability to calculate calorimetric and isotopic observables with precision.
With this new model we examine the influence of nuclear isospin on the fragment
elemental and isotopic distributions. We show that the proposed improvements on
the model are essential for studying isospin effects in nuclear
multifragmentation. In particular, these calculations show that accurate
comparisons to experimental data require that the nuclear masses, free energies
and secondary decay must be handled with higher precision than many current

HuR cytoplasmic expression is associated with increased cyclin A expression and poor outcome with upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma
BACKGROUND: HuR is an RNA-binding protein that post-transcriptionally modulates the expressions of various target genes implicated in carcinogenesis, such as CCNA2 encoding cyclin A. No prior study attempted to evaluate the significance of HuR expression in a large cohort with upper urinary tract urothelial carcinomas (UTUCs). METHODS: In total, 340 cases of primary localized UTUC without previous or concordant bladder carcinoma were selected. All of these patients received ureterectomy or radical nephroureterectomy with curative intents. Pathological slides were reviewed, and clinical findings were collected. Immunostaining for HuR and cyclin A was performed and evaluated by using H-score. The results of cytoplasmic HuR and nuclear cyclin A expressions were correlated with disease-specific survival (DSS), metastasis-free survival (MeFS), urinary bladder recurrence-free survival (UBRFS), and various clinicopathological factors. RESULTS: HuR cytoplasmic expression was significantly related to the pT status, lymph node metastasis, a higher histological grade, the pattern of invasion, vascular and perineurial invasion, and cyclin A expression (p = 0.005). Importantly, HuR cytoplasmic expression was strongly associated with a worse DSS (p < 0.0001), MeFS (p < 0.0001), and UBRFS (p = 0.0370) in the univariate analysis, and the first two results remained independently predictive of adverse outcomes (p = 0.038, relative risk [RR] = 1.996 for DSS; p = 0.027, RR = 1.880 for MeFS). Cyclin A nuclear expression was associated with a poor DSS (p = 0.0035) and MeFS (p = 0.0015) in the univariate analysis but was not prognosticatory in the multivariate analyses. High-risk patients (pT3 or pT4 with/without nodal metastasis) with high HuR cytoplasmic expression had better DSS if adjuvant chemotherapy was performed (p = 0.015). CONCLUSIONS: HuR cytoplasmic expression was correlated with adverse phenotypes and cyclin A overexpression and also independently predictive of worse DSS and MeFS, suggesting its roles in tumorigenesis or carcinogenesis and potentiality as a prognostic marker of UTUC. High HuR cytoplasmic expression might identify patients more likely to be beneficial for adjuvant chemotherapy
