For cloud users and providers alike, security is an everyday concern, yet there are very few books covering cloud security as a main subject. This book will help address this information gap from an Information Technology solution and usage-centric view of cloud infrastructure security. The book highlights the fundamental technology components necessary to build and enable trusted clouds. Here also is an explanation of the security and compliance challenges organizations face as they migrate mission-critical applications to the cloud, and how trusted clouds, that have their integrity rooted in hardware, can address these challenges. Challenging the status quo: women's experiences of opting for a home birth in Andalucia, Spain

Objective To explore the perceptions, beliefs and attitudes of women who opted for a home birth in Andalusia (Spain). Background Home birth is currently an unusual choice among Spanish women. It is not an option covered by the Spanish National Health Service and women who opt for a home birth have to pay for an independent midwife. Design A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was adopted. All participants who took part in this study had chosen to have a home birth and given written consent to take part in the study. Methods Data collection was conducted in 2015–16. Face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were undertaken with women who chose a home birth in the last 5 years. Findings The sample consisted of thirteen women. Seven themes were created through analysis: 1. Getting informed about home birth; 2. Home birth as a choice, despite feeling unsupported; 3. The best way to have a personalized and a physiological birth; 4. Seeking a healing and empowering experience 5. The need for emotional safety, establishing a relationship and trusting the midwife; 6. Preparing for birth and working on fears; 7. Inequality of access (because of financial implications). Conclusions Women opted to plan birth at home because they wanted a personalised birth and control over their decision-making in labour, which they felt would not have been afforded to them in hospital settings. Andalusian maternity care leaders should strive to ensure that all pregnant women receive respectful and high-quality personalised care, by appropriately trained staff, both in the hospital and in the community

Propuesta innovadora para un buen aprovechamiento de las clases de Educación Física

This innovation work is aimed at developing physical education classes in a different way than the traditional one.What is intended is to use a new methodology, Flipped Classroom, where students by themselves and independently at home, libraries or anywhere with Internet access, use the virtual platform, in this case a blog,that contains each and every one of the contents and activities that will be discussed and carried out in the classroom during the school year. In this way, students will be involved in the teaching-learning process of the subject and will take full advantage of the sessions to be taught. At the same time, it is attributed responsibility to the educating making it the protagonist of his own learning.El presente trabajo de innovación, está dirigido a desarrollar las clases de Educación Física de una forma diferente a la tradicional. Lo que se pretende es utilizar una nueva metodología, Flipped Classroom, donde los alumnos por sí mismos y de manera autónoma en casa, bibliotecas o cualquier lugar con acceso a internet, utilicen la plataforma virtual, en este caso un blog, que contenga todos y cada uno de los contenidos y actividades que se van a tratar y realizar en el aula durante el curso escolar. De esta manera, los alumnos se implicarán en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la asignatura y se aprovecharán al máximo las sesiones a impartir. Al mismo tiempo, se le atribuyen responsabilidades al educando haciendo que el mismo sea el protagonista de su propio aprendizaje

Morbidity: discourses about broadcasting and gazing of violence on news

La creciente violencia que muestran los medios informativos es objeto de preocupación e interés social. Con frecuencia se acusa a los medios de provocar el “morbo” por el único motivo de incrementar los índices de audiencia. Pero el concepto de “morbo” contiene significados amplios e imprecisos. El objetivo del presente estudio es (re)construir el significado de este concepto en la contemplación de la violencia grave contenida en los informativos de televisión. Para ello se analiza el discurso generado en 16 grupos focales tras el visionado de 4 videos que mostraban noticias violentas. El análisis muestra que la dimensión curiosidad e interés frente a enfermedad y maldad está estructurando el discurso, y que los espectadores destacan los efectos positivos y legítimos que se pueden atribuir tanto a la “mirada” como a las escenas. Se apunta a la funcionalidad de una mirada con interés no condenable para conseguir los efectos positivos de la emisión de imágenes violentas.The increasing violence broadcasted by the media is subject of concern and social interest. Hard emissions frequently raise the accusation toward the mass media of fostering a morbid curiosity in the audience just to raise audience ratings. But the concept of morbid curiosity includes wide and imprecise meanings. The object of this paper is to (re)construct the meaning of morbidity and morbid curiosity in relation to the watching of serious violence in TV News programs. 16 focus groups have been object of discourse analysis after the viewing 4 videos of a violent piece of TV news. The analysis shows that the dimension of curiosity and interest vs. illness and evil is structuring the discourse; and the participants highlight the positive and legitimate effects that can be attributed to the “gaze” on violence as much as to the scenes. “Watching” with interest is necessary to get the positive effects of the broadcasting of violent images

Evaluación in vitro de la actividad antihelmíntica de extractosmetanólicos de Guazuma ulmifolia frente anematodos Cyathostominae

The study evaluated the anti-hatching effect of methanolic extracts from the bark and leaf of Guazuma ulmifolia using the in vitro Nematode Egg Hatching Inhibition test. Concentrations of 1000, 500 and 250 µg/ml of each extract, a negative control (Dimethyl sulfoxide) and two positive controls (Fenbendazole and Lugol) were evaluated against nematodes of the Cyathostominae subfamily as a biological model. The three concentrations of the two extracts, as well as the two positive controls showed statistically similar results, but different compared to the negative control. The mean inhibition of egg hatching using bark and leaf was 49.73 and 45.22%, respectively, at the 1000 µg/ml concentration, 61.93 and 59.20% at the 500 µg/ml concentration, and 75.60 and 75.82% at the concentration of 250 µg/ml. The methanolic extracts of the bark and leaf of Guazuma ulmifolia showed an anti-hatching effect against Cyathostominae nematodes at the concentrations testedEl estudio evaluó el efecto anti-eclosión de extractos metanólicos de corteza y hojade Guazuma ulmifolia mediante la prueba in vitro de Inhibición de la Eclosión de huevosde nematodos. Rendimiento académico y estilos de aprendizaje en estudiantes de psicología

El presente estudio tuvo como propósito caracterizar e identificar la relación de los estilos de aprendizaje y el rendimiento académico de estudiantes de la licenciatura en psicología de una universidad pública en el municipio de Ecatepec, Estado de México, México. Para identificar el orden de estilos de aprendizaje predominantes en los estudiantes se utilizó el Cuestionario Honey – Alonso de Estilos de Aprendizaje (CHAEA), así como, el historial académico de cada sujeto como evidencia de su rendimiento académico. Los resultados sugieren que el estilo predominante en los participantes es el reflexivo. En los hombres el estilo pragmático predomina mientras que en las mujeres es el reflexivo. En la comparación por semestre se encontraron diferencias significativas en el estilo reflexivo [F (5, 221) = 2.33 p ≤ .042]. ``X-Ray Edge'' Singularities in Nanotubes and Quantum Wires with Multiple Subbands

Band theory predicts an inverse square root van Hove singularity in the tunneling density of states at the minimum energy of an unoccupied subband in a one-dimensional quantum wire. With interactions, an orthogonality catastrophe analogous to the x-ray edge effect for core levels in a metal strongly reduces this singularity by a power B of the energy above threshold, with B approximately 0.3 for typical carbon nanotubes. Despite the anomalous tunneling characteristic, good quasiparticles corresponding to the unoccupied subband states do exist.Comment: 4 page
