On feasibility of rate-independent stress paths under proportional deformations within hypoplastic constitutive model for granular materials

    Get PDF
We study stress paths that are obtained under proportional deformations within the rate-independent hypoplasticity theory of Kolymbas type describing granular materials like soil and broken rock. For a particular simplified hypoplastic constitutive model by Bauer, a closed-form solution of the corresponding system of non-linear ordinary differential equations is available. Since only negative principal stresses are relevant for the granular body, the feasibility of the solution consistent with physics is investigated in dependence of the direction of a proportional strain path and constitutive parameters of the model

Leu432Val (rs1056836) polymorphism of the CYP1B1 gene was examined in relationship with lipid profile in hypertensive Slovak women according to their menopausal status. The entire study sample comprised 255 women suffering from hypertension aged from 39 to 65 years who were recruited from different localities in the western, southern, and middle parts of Slovakia. The participants provided a saliva or blood sample for DNA genotyping and a blood sample for biochemical analysis. The Leu432Val genotypes demonstrated statistically significant associations with all monitored atherogenic indices – total cholesterol-to-HDL-Cholesterol (AI1), Non-HDL-Cholesterol (AI2), LDL-Cholesterol-to-HDL-Cholesterol (AI3), and the logarithm of the ratio of plasma concentration of triglycerides to HDL-cholesterol (AIP log) in hypertensive pre/perimenopausal women. The mean values were significantly lower in women carrying the Val/Val genotype. In early postmenopausal hypertensive women the Leu432Val genotypes were statistically significant and associated with LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) and AI2. The mean values of LDL-C and AI2 were significantly lower in women carrying the Leu/Leu genotype. In conclusion, the Leu432Val polymorphism may be associated with the atherogenic indices and LDL-C in hypertensive women

Katedra českého jazyka a literaturyObhájenoThe thesis "Bilingualism with special focus on the teaching of Czech language for bilingual children with French as a second mother tongue" in the theoretical part focuses on introduce of bilingualism, the definition of the term and its types. Another great chapter of the theoretical part are determinants which have an influance on the situation of bilingual individuals. In the last section of the theoretical part we compare the selected language phenomena of Czech and French language and point out the specifics of the teaching the Czech language for bilingual children. In the practical part we verified supposed problems with Czech-French bilingual children acquiring a Czech using the research exercises

Modelled behaviour of granular material during loading and unloading

    Get PDF
summary:The main aim of this paper is to analyze numerically the model behaviour of a granular material during loading and unloading. The model was originally proposed by D. Kolymbas and afterward modified by E. Bauer. For our purposes the constitutive equation was transformed into a rate independent form by introducing a dimensionless time parameter. By this transformation we were able to derive explicit formulas for the strain-stress trajectories during loading-unloading cycles and compare the results with experiments. We were particularly interested in the observation of a special behaviour called ratchetlike motion in vibrated granular materials

Differences in body composition between metabolically healthy and unhealthy midlife women with respect to obesity status

Body composition (BC) characteristics across metabolic health-by-body mass index categories were examined. Metabolic health (MH) was defined by five biomarkers: waist circumference, blood pressure, levels of triglycerides, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, and fasting glucose. Potential differences in BC characteristics between metabolically healthy obese (MH-O) and metabolically unhealthy obese (MUH-O) women, and between MH normal weight (MH-NW) and MUH normal weight (MUH-NW) women were explored in 276 Slovak midlife women (39-65 years). Body composition parameters were measured with bioimpedance analyzer (BIA 101, Akern, S. r. l.). A simple comparison of the BC data between the subgroups showed significant differences in resistance (Rz, ohm) (p=0.035), muscle mass (MM, kg) (p=0.044), and total body water (TBW, kg) (p=0.047) between MH-O and MUH-O women. However, we did not observe any significant differences in BC characteristics between MH-NW and MUHNW. Specific logistic regression models were used to determine differences in BC characteristics between various obesity phenotypes, with controlling for age, menopausal status, smoking status and sport activity. Our results indicated that increasing age and decreasing Rz were statistically significantly associated with an increased likelihood of exhibiting MUH-O (p=0.031 for age; p=0.032 for Rz). Moreover, other logistic models which included age, menopausal status, biochemical variables and life style factors such as covariates, showed that increasing alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and uric acid (UA) were statistically significantly associated with an increased likelihood of exhibiting MUH-O (p=0.023 for ALT, p=0.010 for UA). In conclusion, MUH-O and MH-O cardiometabolic profiles are characterized by differences in the value of resistance and plasma levels of ALT and UA

Hodnocení bezpečnostních rizik v železniční dopravě metodou fuzzy logické dedukce

The aim of the paper is to inform about the possibilities of using a fuzzy logical deduction in security practice. The fuzzy logic deduction allows to record the management experience in IF - THEN rules and does not require a precise description of the parameters of the controlled function. This property is an important asset for risk assessment in an incompletely defined environment. The application of the method is demonstrated in the security risk assessment of the physical protection of the national railway with a focus on the corridor railway lines and with regard to the future construction of high-speed railway lines in the Czech Republic. At present, it is a generally accepted fact that securing basic transport functions is a prerequisite for successful crisis management. These functions can be specified as road and rail negotiability.Cílem příspěvku je informovat o možnostech využití fuzzy logické dedukce v bezpečnostní praxi. Fuzzy logická dedukce umožňuje zaznamenat zkušenosti s řízením v pravidlech IF - THEN a nevyžaduje přesný popis parametrů řízené funkce.

    No full text
This study assesses the association between angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) I/D (rs4646994) polymorphism and body composition parameters in essential hypertension (HT) and menopausal status in Slovak women. The entire study sample comprised 575 women in two groups: 255 with HT and 320 without. Body composition parameters were measured by bioelectric impedance analyzer and ACE I/D polymorphism genotypes were detected by polymerase chain reaction. Premenopausal HT women with ACE II genotype had significantly lower body cell mass (p=0.004), extra- and intracellular water (p=0.027; p=0.004), fat free mass and muscle mass (p=0.006; P = 0.003), fat free mass index (p=0.006) and body cell mass index (p=0.003) than their ID/DD counterparts. These associations were not determined in normotensive and/or postmenopausal women. This study confirmed that ACE I/D gene polymorphism affects body composition in HT premenopausal women
