The HyperBagGraph DataEdron: An Enriched Browsing Experience of Multimedia Datasets
Traditional verbatim browsers give back information in a linear way according
to a ranking performed by a search engine that may not be optimal for the
surfer. The latter may need to assess the pertinence of the information
retrieved, particularly when she wants to explore other facets of a
multi-facetted information space. For instance, in a multimedia dataset
different facets such as keywords, authors, publication category, organisations
and figures can be of interest. The facet simultaneous visualisation can help
to gain insights on the information retrieved and call for further searches.
Facets are co-occurence networks, modeled by HyperBag-Graphs -- families of
multisets -- and are in fact linked not only to the publication itself, but to
any chosen reference. These references allow to navigate inside the dataset and
perform visual queries. We explore here the case of scientific publications

Synaptic nanomodules underlie the organization and plasticity of spine synapses.
Experience results in long-lasting changes in dendritic spine size, yet how the molecular architecture of the synapse responds to plasticity remains poorly understood. Here a combined approach of multicolor stimulated emission depletion microscopy (STED) and confocal imaging in rat and mouse demonstrates that structural plasticity is linked to the addition of unitary synaptic nanomodules to spines. Spine synapses in vivo and in vitro contain discrete and aligned subdiffraction modules of pre- and postsynaptic proteins whose number scales linearly with spine size. Live-cell time-lapse super-resolution imaging reveals that NMDA receptor-dependent increases in spine size are accompanied both by enhanced mobility of pre- and postsynaptic modules that remain aligned with each other and by a coordinated increase in the number of nanomodules. These findings suggest a simplified model for experience-dependent structural plasticity relying on an unexpectedly modular nanomolecular architecture of synaptic proteins
Symbolic Supervisory Control of Distributed Systems with Communications
We consider the control of distributed systems composed of subsystems communicating asynchronously; the aim is to build local controllers that restrict the behavior of a distributed system in order to satisfy a global state avoidance property. We model distributed systems as \emph{communicating finite state machines} with reliable unbounded FIFO queues between subsystems. Local controllers can only observe the behavior of their proper subsystem and do not see the queue contents. To refine their control policy, controllers can use the FIFO queues to communicate by piggy-backing extra information (some timestamps and their state estimates) to the messages sent by the subsystems. We provide an algorithm that computes, for each local subsystem (and thus for each controller), during the execution of the system, an estimate of the current global state of the distributed system. We then define a synthesis algorithm to compute local controllers. Our method relies on the computation of (co-)reachable states. Since the reachability problem is undecidable in our model, we use abstract interpretation techniques to obtain overapproximations of (co-)reachable states. An implementation of our algorithms provides an empirical evaluation of our method

Highly precise micropositioning task using a direct visual servoing scheme.
International audienceThis paper demonstrates a precise micropositioning scheme based on a direct visual servoing process. This technique uses only the pure image signal (photometric information) to design the control law. With respect to traditional visual servoing approaches that use geometric visual features (points, lines, ...), the visual features used in the control law is nothing but the pixel luminance. The proposed approach was tested in term of precision and robustness in several experimental conditions. The obtained results have demonstrated a good behavior of the control law and very good positioning precision. The obtained precisions are 89 nanometers, 14 nanometers, and 0.001 degrees in the x, y and axes of positioning platform, respectively
