The city of Maspalomas began building in 1961, year of the celebration of the International Bid of ideas for Maspalomas Costa Canaria. This event was sponsored by the owner of the lands Mr. Alejandro de Castillo y Bravo de Laguna, the Count of Vega Grande. The group of French architects and city planners ATEA and SETAP where awarded first place in the bid. The project stood out due to its high quality details, the respectful distribution with the landscape and the majesty of its urban forms in the different enclaves that comprised the project. The analysis of the professional work of ATEA and SETAP, the city models that were developed in the atelier, the academic experience of working with the ateliers of the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in France by some of the members of SETAP, and the bid, are some of the ideas developed in this investigation.Peer Reviewe

    Get PDF

The objective of this paper is to show why an important issue in international business and foreign trade has not been taken into account by Latin American companies, in difference of the European companies are putting into practice CSR in their business strategies. The relationship between CSR and financial performance is examined using a new methodology. The average age of the company is highly correlated with the ranking of social responsibility that they have. After this analysis, it appears that there is some correlation between CSR and financial performance of companies.

Enlarged Kuramoto Model: Secondary Instability and Transition to Collective Chaos

The emergence of collective synchrony from an incoherent state is a phenomenon essentially described by the Kuramoto model. This canonical model was derived perturbatively, by applying phase reduction to an ensemble of heterogeneous, globally coupled Stuart-Landau oscillators. This derivation neglects nonlinearities in the coupling constant. We show here that a comprehensive analysis requires extending the Kuramoto model up to quadratic order. This "enlarged Kuramoto model" comprises three-body (nonpairwise) interactions, which induce strikingly complex phenomenology at certain parameter values. As the coupling is increased, a secondary instability renders the synchronized state unstable, and subsequent bifurcations lead to collective chaos. An efficient numerical study of the thermodynamic limit, valid for Gaussian heterogeneity, is carried out by means of a Fourier-Hermite decomposition of the oscillator density.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Particle Identification Using The Threshold Cerenkov Detector with Radial Segmentation (TCDRS)

Analytical Phase Reduction for Weakly Nonlinear Oscillators

Phase reduction is a dimensionality reduction scheme to describe the dynamics of nonlinear oscillators with a single phase variable. While it is crucial in synchronization analysis of coupled oscillators, analytical results are limited to few systems. In this letter, we analytically perform phase reduction for a wide class of oscillators by extending the Poincar\'e-Lindstedt perturbation theory. We exemplify the utility of our approach by analyzing an ensemble of Van der Pol oscillators, where the derived phase model provides analytical predictions of their collective synchronization dynamicsComment: 9 pages, 5 figure

    Get PDF
Background: Workplace bullying is considered a major social stressor at work. However, in the Spanish context, there is a lack of measures that allow researchers and practitioners to distinguish between non-targets and targets of workplace bullying. Method: This study reports the psychometric properties, factor structure, and cutoff scores for the Short-Negative Acts Questionnaire (S-NAQ) in a Spanish sample (N = 1,409). Results: The S-NAQ demonstrated adequate psychometric properties. Moreover, both Exploratory and Confi rmatory Factor Analysis revealed that a unifactorial model of workplace bullying fi t the data best. Two cutoff points for the S-NAQ were formulated using receiver operating characteristic curves to categorize respondents as “not exposed to workplace bullying” (scores below 15), “at risk of being bullied” (scores between 15 and 22), and “targets of workplace bullying” (scores above 22). Conclusions: These cutoff scores may help researchers and practitioners in diagnosing workplace bullying and designing intervention strategies.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación PSI2017-83465-
