Hopelesseness And Pessimism Among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgenders (Lgbt): Effect of Counseling on Problem Coping Strategies

The aim of this study is to develop effective counseling approach for the socially deprived and discriminated lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Northern Iraq to enhance  the physical and mental well-being. The study aims to develop effective problem-coping strategies to deal with social, economic, and political setbacks. The problem identified to conduct this study is that the LGBT  people in Northern Iraq are not only inacceptable as normal members of the society but they also face rejection, isolation, and discrimination in society. This consistent hatred and discrimination against  the LGBT people develop many psychological disorders that include anxiety, depression, isolation, pessimism, and hopelessness. These psychological disorders enforce suicide attempts and socially deviated behavior among the LGBT people. The study has a qualitative research design and the researcher conducted 10 interviews with LGBTs in northern Iraq. The results of the study outlined that LGBTs in Iraq have social and psychological issues that contribute to hopelessness and pessimism among LGBTs. The society has zero tolerance in the name of religion and the conservative norms do not allow these people to live their life as normal people. They commit suicide or get into depression because of unending suffering. However, the LGBTs that received counseling improved their condition as compared to those that could not receive counseling services. Counseling helped these people to come out of depression and live a normal life by accepting the reality

Analysis of consignment contracts for spare parts inventory systems

Cataloged from PDF version of article.We study a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) partnership between a manufacturer and a retailer. More specifically, we consider a consignment contract, under which the manufacturer assumes the ownership of the inventory in retailer’s premises until the goods are sold, the retailer pays an annual fee to the manufacturer and the manufacturer pays the retailer backorder penalties. The main motivation of this research is our experience with a capital equipment manufacturer that manages the spare parts (for its systems) inventory of its customers in their stock rooms. We consider three factors that may potentially improve the supply chain efficiency under such a partnership: i-) reduction in inventory ownership costs (per unit holding cost) ii-) reduction in replenishment lead time and iii-) joint replenishment of multiple retailer installations. We consider two cases. In the first case, there are no setup costs; the retailer (before the contract) and the manufacturer (after the contract) both manage the stock following an (S − 1, S) policy. In the second case, there are setup costs; the retailer manages its inventories independently following an (r, Q) policy before the contract, and the manufacturer manages inventories of multiple retailer installations jointly following a (Q, S) policy. Through an extensive numerical study, we investigate the impact of the physical improvements above and the backorder penalties charged by the retailer on the total cost and the efficiency of the supply chain.Latifoğlu, ÇağrıM.S

DİB'in yurt dışı din hizmetlerinin en önemli unsurlarından birini din hizmetini sunan din görevlileri oluşturmaktadır. Türk vatandaşlarının göçmen olarak bulunduğu ülkelerde din hizmetinin, Türkiye'deki din hizmetinden farklı olarak değişik zeminleri vardır. Zemini ne olursa olsun etkili din hizmeti vermenin en önemli unsuru, yaptığı görevin önemini kavramış, iyi yetişmiş din görevlisidir. Bu nedenle yurt dışında görev yapan din görevlilerinin mesleki yeterlilikleri ve karşılaştıkları problemlerin bilinmesi bu hizmetin daha sağlıklı yürütülmesi açısından son derece önemlidir. Biz bu çalışmada din görevlisinin yapmakta olduğu işte kendini yeterli görüp görmemesi durumunu, işindeki belli görevleri yerine getirebilmek için kendi bilgi, beceri ve yeteneklerine olan inancını ve din hizmetini yerine getirirken karşılaştığı problemleri ölçmeye çalıştık. Halkla sürekli olarak yüz yüze olmaları ve doğrudan iletişim kurmaları, din görevlilerini toplumun manevi imarında ön plana çıkarmaktadır ki bu görev yurt dışında icra edildiğinde önemi bir kat daha artmaktadır. Bu nedenle din görevliliği gibi çok önemli bir görevi yerine getirenlerin, mesleki bilgi, beceri ve genel kültür bakımından iyi yetişmeleri, mesleklerini icra ederken karşılaştıkları problemlerinin en aza indirilmesinin meslek kalitesini artıracağı şüphesizdir. Bu araştırmanın çalışma alanını Almanya'daki DİTİB derneklerinde görev yapan din görevlileri oluşturmaktadır. Anket tekniğinin uygulandığı bu çalışmada, din görevlilerinin mesleki yeterliklerinin ve karşılaştıkları problemlerin değerlendirmesinde; yaş, cinsiyet, öğrenim durumu ve mesleki kıdemleri gibi değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediği de incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre değerlendirmeler yapılıp; öneriler ve eleştiriler sunulmuştur.Presidency of Religious Affairs (hereinafter referred to as PRA) has sent religious officials abroad and started meeting the religious needs of people through official channels since early 1980s. One of the most important elements of religious services that PRA provides abroad is religious officials that give these services. Religious services in the countries that Turkish people live as immigrants differ from the ones in Turkey in having different background. Regardless having different backgrounds, the most important aspect of giving religious services is well-educated religious official that comprehend the importance of his or her duty. Therefore, it is crucial to be aware of professional competency of these officials and challenges they face in order to provide higher quality services. In this paper, we tried to evaluate whether religious officials consider themselves competent enough to fulfill their responsibilities, whether they have enough knowledge, skills and abilities to perform their jobs and problems they encounter while giving religious services. Meeting people face to face all the time and communicating with them directly give more impact to religious officials on spiritual development of the society which becomes more important when this profession is practiced abroad. Thus, educating more competent, informed and intelligent people who perform such important jobs and reducing their problems will ensure higher quality services without any doubt. The target population of the study is religious officials who work in the associations of Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs. In this study in which questionnaire technique is used, whether professional competency and problems of religious officials differ by age, educational background, gender and professional seniority or not is examined. Evaluations are carried out depending on the results of the study; suggestions and critics are presented
