Concrete - filled steel tube columns - tests compared with Eurocode 4
This paper summarises the data from 1819 tests on concrete-filled steel tube columns and compares their failure load with the prediction of Eurocode 4. The full data is given on the website http://web.ukonline.co.uk/asccs2 . The comparison with Eurocode 4 is discussed and shows that Eurocode 4 can be used with confidence and generally gives good agreement with test results, the average Test/EC4 ratio for all tests being 1.11. The Eurocode 4 limitations on concrete strength could be safely extended to concrete with a cylinder strength of 75 N/mm2 for circular sections and 60 N/mm2 for rectangular sections
Finite Symmetry of Leptonic Mass Matrices
We search for possible symmetries present in the leptonic mixing data from
SU(3) subgroups of order up to 511. Theoretical results based on symmetry are
compared with global fits of experimental data in a chi-squared analysis,
yielding the following results. There is no longer a group that can produce all
the mixing data without a free parameter, but a number of them can accommodate
the first or the second column of the mixing matrix. The only group that fits
the third column is . It predicts and

Perturbative Computation of Glueball Superpotentials
Using N=1 superspace techniques in four dimensions we show how to
perturbatively compute the superpotential generated for the glueball superfield
upon integrating out massive charged fields. The technique applies to arbitrary
gauge groups and representations. Moreover we show that for U(N) gauge theories
admitting a large N expansion the computation dramatically simplifies and we
prove the validity of the recently proposed recipe for computation of this
quantity in terms of planar diagrams of matrix integrals.Comment: 15 Pages, 2 Figure
Biased EPR entanglement and its application to teleportation
We consider pure continuous variable entanglement with non-equal correlations
between orthogonal quadratures. We introduce a simple protocol which equates
these correlations and in the process transforms the entanglement onto a state
with the minimum allowed number of photons. As an example we show that our
protocol transforms, through unitary local operations, a single squeezed beam
split on a beam splitter into the same entanglement that is produced when two
squeezed beams are mixed orthogonally. We demonstrate that this technique can
in principle facilitate perfect teleportation utilising only one squeezed beam.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Implementing Unitarity in Perturbation Theory
Unitarity cannot be perserved order by order in ordinary perturbation theory
because the constraint UU^\dagger=\1 is nonlinear. However, the corresponding
constraint for , being , is linear so it can be
maintained in every order in a perturbative expansion of . The perturbative
expansion of may be considered as a non-abelian generalization of the
linked-cluster expansion in probability theory and in statistical mechanics,
and possesses similar advantages resulting from separating the short-range
correlations from long-range effects. This point is illustrated in two QCD
examples, in which delicate cancellations encountered in summing Feynman
diagrams of are avoided when they are calculated via the perturbative expansion

Luxatio Erecta Complicated By Anterior Shoulder Dislocation During Reduction
Luxatio erecta humeri is an uncommon form of glenohumeral dislocation, resulting in the inferior displacement of the humeral head. Treatment with traction-counter traction techniques is usually successful in reducing most cases. We describe an unusual complication of this condition where initial reduction attempts of a luxatio erecta humeri repositioned the shoulder to an anterior dislocation position. After a thorough search of the literature, we were unable to find a similar case report of this type of complication during the reduction of a luxatio erecta shoulder dislocation
Sustainable Growth and Ethics: a Study of Business Ethics in Vietnam Between Business Students and Working Adults
Sustainable growth is not only the ultimate goal of business corporations but also the primary target of local governments as well as regional and global economies. One of the cornerstones of sustainable growth is ethics. An ethical organizational culture provides support to achieve sustainable growth. Ethical leaders and employees have great potential for positive influence on decisions and behaviors that lead to sustainability. Ethical behavior, therefore, is expected of everyone in the modern workplace. As a result, companies devote many resources and training programs to make sure their employees live according to the high ethical standards. This study provides an analysis of Vietnamese business students’ level of ethical maturity based on gender, education, work experience, and ethics training. The results of data from 260 business students compared with 704 working adults in Vietnam demonstrate that students have a significantly higher level of ethical maturity. Furthermore, gender and work experience are significant factors in ethical maturity. While more educated respondents and those who had completed an ethics course did have a higher level of ethical maturity, the results were not statistically significant. Analysis of the results along with suggestions and implications are provided
Magneto-Seebeck effect in spin-valve with in-plane thermal gradient
We present measurements of magneto-Seebeck effect on a spin valve with
in-plane thermal gradient. We measured open circuit voltage and short circuit
current by applying a temperature gradient across a spin valve stack, where one
of the ferromagnetic layers is pinned. We found a clear hysteresis in these two
quantities as a function of magnetic field. From these measurements, the
magneto-Seebeck effect was found to be 0.82%.Comment: 10 Pages, 7 figure
