    Four decades of natural resources research in Brazil: A scientometric analysis

    Brazil holds vast natural resources reserves, but their depletion can cause serious environmental issues on natural ecosystems and human society, such as desertification, pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. In this study, we update the perspectives of natural resources publications by Brazilian scientists. We investigated articles in the Web of Science and Scopus databases published until December 31st 2020 using the key terms “natural resource”, and “Brasil” or “Brazil” in the authors’ address field. Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel, Biblioshiny for RStudio, and SigmaPlot. From the first publication in 1977 until 2020, 3,983 articles were published, totalizing 88,530 citations. A total of 5,950 institutions from 78 countries collaborated on publishing in 1,101 journals, with 13,763 signed authors. Conservation and sustainability were the hot topics cited in keyword analyses, while the Amazon Forest was the most studied ecosystem. Brazilian natural resources’ research focuses on sustainable development, environmental management politics, and strategies to protect biodiversity and cope with climate change effects

    Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) can be vastly used to verify the state of a structure, avoiding the need of destructive tests to do so. One of the many ways to perform SHM is by obtaining and evaluating modal parameters (natural frequencies and mode shapes) of a certain structure, collected by dynamic tests, and compare them to pre-estabilished values for non-damaged structures. Such monitoring can be performed with a reduced maintenance cost in the electricity distribution network, which presents a high number of reinforced concrete (RC) light poles. This paper is part of a program that seeks to develop a methodology of structural health monitoring of reinforced concrete light poles using experimental modal analysis (EMA), and since one of the first steps for this is the validation of the structural model, it intends to design a numerical model in a Finite Element (FE) software (ANSYS) of a laboratory tested reinforced concrete beam, and compare the modal parameters numerically, experimentally and analitically obtained. The model considers the behaviour of reinfored concrete, a composite material, and the free-free boundary conditions identical to the ones used in the laboratory tests. The comparative results between the numerical models and experimental tests are satisfatory in such way that they validate the model as proper in the attainment of reinforced concrete light poles’s modal parameters

    A computational literature review of football performance analysis through probabilistic topic modeling

Thus, a review was performed on two online databases (Scopus and ISI Web of Science) from 2012 to 2019. A total of 9649 studies were identified, which were analyzed using probabilistic topic modeling procedures within a machine learning approach. The Latent Dirichlet Allocation method, chosen for modeling, required the following stages: 1) data cleansing, and 2) data modeling into topics for coherence and perplexity analysis. All research was conducted according to the standards of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses in a fully computerized way. The computational literature review is an integral part of a broader literature review process. The results presented met three criteria: (1) literature review for a research area, (2) analysis and classification of journals, and (3) analysis and classification of academic and individual research teams. The contribution of the article is to demonstrate how the publication network is formed in this particular field of research, and how the content of abstracts can be automatically analyzed to provide a set of research topics for quick understanding and application in future projects.authorsversionpublishe

    Reuse of treated domestic sewage for biquinho pepper cultivation

    This study aimed to evaluate the reuse of treated domestic sewage in biquinho pepper (Capsicum chinense L.) cultivation under different irrigation regimes. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, in a randomised block design with a 3 x 4 factorial scheme, with four replications. Forty-eight pepper plants were subjected to three treated domestic sewage concentrations (0, 50, and 100%) and four irrigation depths (75, 100, 125, and 150% of the crop evapotranspiration - ETc). Data for ETc estimation were obtained from an automatic meteorological station, which was installed in the greenhouse. The results showed that irrigation depths corresponding to 125 and 150% of the ETc at a concentration of 100% treated domestic sewage resulted in higher plants. Moreover, longer fruits were obtained when plants were subjected to 100% ETc at 100% treated domestic sewage. The studied irrigation depths influenced pepper fruit total weight and yield. No treated domestic sewage concentrations significantly influenced the variables analysed. Treated domestic sewage reuse can constitute an alternative for quality water saving and for chemical fertilisation of biquinho pepper crop. Highlights: The growing of beak pepper with domestic sewage treated can bring benefits in terms of providing nutrients to the crops; Adequate levels of water replacement with domestic sewage treated may promote good crop development. The use of treated domestic sewage can be an alternative to reduce the use of better quality water and chemical fertilization in the growing of beak pepper.     Cuidados Primários na Luta contra Epidemias: Contribuição da Estratégia Saúde da Família à Saúde Pública

    Este artigo se propõe a examinar a contribuição da Estratégia Saúde da família (ESF) como parte essencial dos cuidados primários na luta contra epidemias, no contexto da saúde pública. Este trabalho consiste em uma revisão integrativa da literatura que foi conduzida por meio de buscas nas bases de dados LILACS e SCIELO, com o auxílio do mecanismo de busca do Google Acadêmico, durante o período compreendido entre agosto e setembro de 2023. Os descritores selecionados a partir dos DeCS (Descritores em Ciências da Saúde) incluíram os termos "Cuidados Primários," "Epidemias," "Saúde da Família," e "Saúde Pública." A fim de atender aos critérios de inclusão, os estudos deveriam ter sido publicados entre 2018 e 2023, estar disponíveis em língua portuguesa e ser de acesso gratuito. Os critérios de exclusão contemplaram a remoção de estudos duplicados entre as bases de dados, bem como a exclusão de resumos, trabalhos de conclusão de curso e artigos que não se enquadravam no escopo da pesquisa. Após a realização das buscas e a seleção criteriosa, apenas 07 artigos foram escolhidos para compor a amostra final. Os artigos demonstraram que a os cuidados primários desempenham um papel vital na gestão de epidemias, e ESF contribui significativamente para a saúde pública por meio de ações preventivas e de educação. Esta abordagem é fundamental para fortalecer a resposta a crises epidemiológicas. Conclui-se que, a abordagem baseada na saúde da família demonstrou ser eficaz na prevenção, detecção precoce e manejo de epidemias. Ações como campanhas de vacinação, monitoramento de saúde comunitária e a promoção de hábitos saudáveis por meio de programas de educação são exemplos concretos das contribuições substanciais da ESF para a saúde pública

    Yield, quality and conservation of heterozygous tomatoes in alcobaça, nonripening and ripening inhibitor loci

    O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os atributos de produtividade, qualidade e conservação pós-colheita de tomates, para comparar os efeitos promovidos pelos alelos alcobaça (norA), nonripening (nor) e ripening inhibitor (rin) em heterozigose, isoladamente ou em duplas combinações, sobre frutos de tomateiros híbridos. Foram avaliados dez tratamentos: sete híbridos experimentais quase-isogênicos, com background FloraDade x Tropic de genótipos nor+/norA, rin+/rin, nor+/nor, nor/norA, nor+/norA rin+/rin e nor+/nor rin+/rin; e três testemunhas comerciais (Floradade, Tropic e Carmen F1). Contrariamente aos genótipos rin+/rin e nor+/nor, o genótipo nor+/norA não prolongou, significativamente, a firmeza dos frutos em pós-colheita. Os genótipos duplo-mutantes norA/nor, nor+/norA rin+/rin e nor+/nor rin+/rin foram eficientes em atrasar a perda de firmeza e a evolução da coloração dos frutos; os efeitos dos locos nor+/norA e rin+/rin, juntos, sofreram desvios significativos em relação à soma dos efeitos desses locos, quando atuaram separadamente, no sentido de intensificarem esses atrasos. O uso de híbridos heterozigotos, nas duplas combinações entre os locos norA, nor e rin, mostrou-se vantajoso por propiciar frutos firmes, com maior extensão da vida pós-colheita, em comparação com o uso dos híbridos portadores desses locos isoladamente. A qualidade dos frutos duplo-mutantes não foi limitada pelo atraso na evolução da coloração vermelha.Thie objective of this work was to evaluate yield, quality and postharvest conservation of tomatoes, to compare the effects promoted by the alcobaça (norA), nonripening (nor) and ripening inhibitor (rin) alleles, in heterozygosis, singly or in double combinations on hybrid tomato fruits. Ten treatments were evaluated: seven experimental nearly isogenic hybrids of FloraDade x Tropic background or reciprocal with nor+/norA, rin+/rin, nor+/nor, nor/norA, nor+/norA rin+/rin and nor+/nor rin+/rin genotypes, and three commercial checks (FloraDade, Tropic and Carmen F1). Oppositely to the genotypes rin+/rin and nor+/nor, the genotype nor+/norA did not significantly extend the firmness of the fruits in postharvest. The double mutant genotypes norA/nor, nor+/norA rin+/rin and nor+/nor rin+/rin were efficient in delaying firmness loss and the evolution of fruits colouring; the effects of loci nor+/norA and rin+/rin, together, underwent significant deviations relatively to the sum of these loci effects, when acting singly, in the sense of enhancing those delays. Use of heterozygous hybrids in the double combinations among loci norA, nor and rin proved advantageous for providing firm fruits with a longer postharvest lifetime, as compared with the hybrids carrying these loci singly. The quality of double mutant fruits was not restricted by the delay in the evolution of red coloration

    Os distúrbios hidroeletrolíticos são eventos comumente observados na prática médica, inclusive em situações de emergência, podendo representar risco de vida ou possibilidade de sequelas para o paciente a depender da magnitude do caso. Independentemente da etiologia, a desidratação tem sua importância definida pela intensidade das perdas líquidas e pela proporção de perdas salinas em relação à perda de água. Isto evidencia a importância de se avaliar corretamente o quadro para se desenvolver um tratamento adequado. Este estudo tem como objetivo explorar o tema das repercussões e manejo de distúrbios hidroeletrolíticos nos pacientes graves a partir de uma revisão sistemática com meta análise com o emprego das palavras chave “unidade de terapia intensiva”, “gerenciamento hidroeletrolítico”, “distúrbios hidroeletrolíticos” e “controle de líquidos e eletrólitos” nos bancos de dados PubMed, BVS, Lilacs, Medline e Scielo objetivando acessar artigos publicados entre 2015 e 2022. A equipe de enfermagem está diretamente responsável pelo manejo de pacientes de alta complexidade, o que pode envolver casos que exigem o gerenciamento hidroeletrolítico, isto requer um conhecimento aprofundado dos mecanismos envolvidos no metabolismo da água e dos eletrólitos. O monitoramento diário da função renal pela equipe de enfermagem é um cuidado importante para se evitar o quadro de insuficiência renal aguda
