Road planning techniques need some technical criteria to use as consideration for optimation of planning results to anticipate problems because of road, like social issues or technical issues. One of the criteria necessary planning is value of traffic growth. However, in developing countries including Indonesia, traffic analysis could support planning data with accuracy difficult that adequate. Because of lack of required data, so that difficult to predict future developments. This study aims to analyze value of traffic growth based on value of traffic volume from UR Research Institute survey on Sp. Lago - Sorek street in 2006 until 2013 without traffic volume data in 2008. And also to estimate the future of traffic volume on periods 5 years, 10 years, and 20 years later using value of the traffic growth and regression analysis method. The results show the value of traffic growth on Sp. Lago-Sorek street based on daily traffic volume average are 6.82% of total vehicle (kend/hari) and 4.12% for total vehicle (Smp/hari), traffic volume predicts of total vehicle based on value of traffic growth for year 2018 are 8429 (kend/hari) and 10050 (smp/hari), for year 2023 are 11721 (kend/hari) and 1230 (smp/hari), and for year 2033 are 22666 (kend/hari) and 10513 (smp/hari). The effects of four corn hybrids, Keynes540, Keynes410, KSC260 and KSC400, were investigated on life table parameters of the beet armyworm in a growth chamber that was set at 25 ± 1 ºC, 65 ± 5% RH and 16:8 (L: D) photoperiod. The highest survivorship (lx) of adults were 0.77, 0.70, 0.62 and 0.58 on KSC260, Keynes410, Keynes540 and KSC400, respectively. The highest age-specific fecundity (mx) of females which were emerged from the larvae being fed on above-mentioned hybrids were recorded 28.75, 21.70, 20.37 and 16.33 female/ female/ day, that occurred at the days 39, 40, 41 and 45, respectively. The females reared on KSC400 showed the lowest net reproductive rate (R0), while the highest R0 was recorded on KSC260 hybrids. The intrinsic rate of natural increase (rm) ranged from 0.1028 to 0.1370 day-1 of which the lowest was on KSC400. The lowest and highest values of finite rate of increase (λ)were obtained on KSC400 and Keynes540, respectively. The longest mean generation time (T)(35.37 ± 0.83 days) was observed on KSC400 and the shortest one (30.67 ± 0.93 days) was on Keynes410. The results showed that KSC400 was the least suitable host for S. exigua

Prosthetic alignment is a subjective concept which lacks reliability. The outcome responsiveness to prosthetic alignment quality could help to improve subjective and instrument assisted prosthetic alignment. This study was aimed to review variables used to assess clinically acceptable alignment in the literature. The search was done in some databases including: Google Scholar, PubMed, EBSCO, EMBASE, ISI Web of Knowledge and Scopus. The first selection criterion was based on abstracts and titles to address the research questions of interest. The American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics checklists were used for paper risk of bias assessment. A total of 25 studies were included in this study. Twenty-four studies revealed the critics of standing position or walking to locate clinically acceptable alignment, only one study measured outcomes in both situations. A total of 253 adults with transtibial amputations and mean age of 48.71 years participated in included studies. The confidence level of included studies was low to moderate, and before-after trial was the most common study design (n = 19). The joint angle, load line location with respect to joints and center of pressure-related parameters were reported as sensitive outcomes to prosthetic alignment quality in standing posture. The amount of forces at various parts of gait cycle and time of events were sensitive to prosthetic alignment quality during walking. Standing balance and posture and temporal parameters of walking could help to locate clinically acceptable alignment.N/

Co-transplantation of Human Embryonic Stem Cell-derived Neural Progenitors and Schwann Cells in a Rat Spinal Cord Contusion Injury Model Elicits a Distinct Neurogenesis and Functional Recovery

    Get PDF
Co-transplantation of neural progenitors (NPs) with Schwann cells (SCs) might be a way to overcome low rate of neuronal differentiation of NPs following transplantation in spinal cord injury (SCI) and the improvement of locomotor recovery. In this study, we initially generated NPs from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and investigated their potential for neuronal differentiation and functional recovery when co-cultured with SCs in vitro and co-transplanted in a rat acute model of contused SCI. Co-cultivation results revealed that the presence of SCs provided a consistent status for hESC-NPs and recharged their neural differentiation toward a predominantly neuronal fate. Following transplantation, a significant functional recovery was observed in all engrafted groups (NPs, SCs, NPs+SCs) relative to the vehicle and control groups. We also observed that animals receiving co-transplants established a better state as assessed with the BBB functional test. Immunohistofluorescence evaluation five weeks after transplantation showed invigorated neuronal differentiation and limited proliferation in the co-transplanted group when compared to the individual hESC-NPs grafted group. These findings have demonstrated that the co-transplantation of SCs with hESC-NPs could offer a synergistic effect, promoting neuronal differentiation and functional recovery

Item does not contain fulltextPURPOSE: Nissen fundoplication is an effective treatment for gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). Mobilization of the gastric fundus during fundoplication requires division of short gastric vessels of the spleen, which may cause splenic ischemia. The aim of this study was to determine if Nissen fundoplication results in hypotrophy of the spleen. METHODS: We performed pre-operative and post-operative ultrasound measurements of the spleen in children undergoing Nissen fundoplication. During operation, the surgeon estimated the compromised blood flow by assessment of the percentage of discoloration of the spleen. RESULTS: Twenty-four consecutive children were analyzed. Discoloration of the upper pole of the spleen was observed in 11 patients (48%) of a median estimated splenic surface of 20% (range 5-50%). The median ratio for pre-operative and post-operative length, width, and area of the spleen was 0.97, 1.03, and 0.96, respectively. The percentage of the estimated perfusion defect during surgery was not correlated with the ratios. In three patients, the area ratio was smaller than 0.8 (0.67-0.75), meaning that the area decreased with at least 20% after surgery. In none of these patients a discoloration was observed. CONCLUSION: Discoloration of the spleen after Nissen fundoplication is not associated with post-operative splenic atrophy.1 maart 201

    Get PDF
Transformative artificially intelligent tools, such as ChatGPT, designed to generate sophisticated text indistinguishable from that produced by a human, are applicable across a wide range of contexts. The technology presents opportunities as well as, often ethical and legal, challenges, and has the potential for both positive and negative impacts for organisations, society, and individuals. Offering multi-disciplinary insight into some of these, this article brings together 43 contributions from experts in fields such as computer science, marketing, information systems, education, policy, hospitality and tourism, management, publishing, and nursing. The contributors acknowledge ChatGPT's capabilities to enhance productivity and suggest that it is likely to offer significant gains in the banking, hospitality and tourism, and information technology industries, and enhance business activities, such as management and marketing. Nevertheless, they also consider its limitations, disruptions to practices, threats to privacy and security, and consequences of biases, misuse, and misinformation. However, opinion is split on whether ChatGPT's use should be restricted or legislated. Drawing on these contributions, the article identifies questions requiring further research across three thematic areas: knowledge, transparency, and ethics; digital transformation of organisations and societies; and teaching, learning, and scholarly research. The avenues for further research include: identifying skills, resources, and capabilities needed to handle generative AI; examining biases of generative AI attributable to training datasets and processes; exploring business and societal contexts best suited for generative AI implementation; determining optimal combinations of human and generative AI for various tasks; identifying ways to assess accuracy of text produced by generative AI; and uncovering the ethical and legal issues in using generative AI across different contexts
