We examined the extent to which practice members’ perceptions of how well they organized to deliver care consistent with the CCM were associated with their patients’ perceptions of the chronic illness care they have received. Methods: Analysis of baseline measures from a cluster randomized controlled trial testing a practice facilitation intervention to implement the CCM in small, community-based primary care practices. All practice “members” (i.e., physician providers, non-physician providers, and staff) completed the Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (ACIC) survey and adult patients with 1 or more chronic illnesses completed the Patient Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (PACIC) questionnaire. Results: Two sets of hierarchical linear regression models accounting for nesting of practice members (N = 283) and patients (N = 1,769) within 39 practices assessed the association between practice member perspectives of CCM implementation (ACIC scores) and patients’ perspectives of CCM (PACIC). ACIC summary score was not significantly associated with PACIC summary score or most of PACIC subscale scores, but four of the ACIC subscales were consistently associated with PACIC summary score and the majority of PACIC subscale scores after controlling for patient characteristics. The magnitude of the coefficients, however, indicates that the level of association is weak. Conclusions: The ACIC and PACIC scales appear to provide complementary and relatively unique assessments of how well clinical services are aligned with the CCM. Our findings underscore the importance of assessing both patient and practice member perspectives when evaluating quality of chronic illness care.Information, Risk, and Operations Management (IROM)[email protected]

Foam glass is a material can be used as a insulation acoustic. The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of sintering temperature and time sintering on the physicalproperties of foam glass preparation from sheet glass and fly ash using dolomite as foaming agents. Slurry was made with mixed fly ash 50wt% and powder glass 50wt% incorporated indolomite 8wt% and strirred for 30 minutes; 300 rpm. Slurry was dried in oven at oven 105˚C for for 12 hours. Green bodies removed from mold and then it was sintered in the range 750, 900 and 950 oC at the furnace for 10,20,30 minutes. The effect of sintering temperature andsintering time on the shrinkage, porosity, density, compressive strength, microstructure and crystalline phases (XRD) were investigated. As the sintering temperature range 750oCthe density, compressive strength, shrinkage increased while the percentage of porosity decreased however as sintering temperature 900-950oC density and compressive strengthdecreased but percentage porosity increased. Furthermore, the sintering time increased the bulk density, compressive strength, shrinkage increased while the percentage of porositydecreased. The shrinkage, percentage of porosity, density, and compressive strength of the produced foam glass for insulation were 9,28-20,36%; 63-66%; 0,85-0,91 g/cm3; 1,53-1,69MPa; respectively. The optimum processing for producing foam glass for insulation was to use sintering temperature 900oC, time sintering 30 minutes

Do offenders\u27 life goals reflect locus of control and personality traits?

    Get PDF
According to the Good Lives Model (Ward, 2002) it is imperative that offenders in rehabilitation recognize which life goals are important to them and how they can achieve a ‘good life.’ Including the evaluation of life goals in treatment can be beneficial not only for the individuals being treated but for the community into which they are transitioning. Seventy-six male, residential offenders were assessed on type and perception of life goals during semi-structured interviews. They also completed a personality inventory, locus of control scale, and self-esteem scale. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses for types of goals and perception of goals were conducted to examine the hypothesized predictions. Results indicate that higher levels of openness and an internal locus of control predicted the presence of personal growth goals, and emotional stability is the strongest predictor of positive goal perception for this offender sample. Findings from this study have implications for the use of goals and the importance of emotional stability in treatment of offenders

Preliminary study of an astropectinid (Asteroidea, Echinodermata) from the Lower Cretaceous (Mulichinco Formation) of the Neuquén Basin, Argentina

Body fossils of any group of starfish are rarely preserved; mostly they comprise dissociated ossicles only. Astropectinids in particular have a limited fossil record, although they are environmentally broad ranging and numerically important in recent settings. The Mulichinco Formation (Early Valanginian, Mendoza Group) is a clastic, mainly marine and marginal-marine succession, exposed in the Neuquén Province. The sample was recovered from the lowermost levels of this Formation, in the outcrops located along the National Road 40 at the Pampa Tril area (37º15'S, 69º47'W). The sandstone containing the specimen represents the top of one of several coarsening upward successions interpreted as shoreface deposits. The sample is a very well-preserved starfish in oral view. The central area (disk) and the five rays can be identified (two of them are complete, one is almost complete, and two are fractured showing less than a third of their original length). The ambulacral grooves, the inframarginal plates and some of the adambulacral plates corresponding to each of the rays are also observable. The members of the Astropectinidae family exhibit a rather small disc, long and normally straight-sided arms, and contact facets between marginals smaller than the sides of these ossicles. All of these features can be observed in the studied sample. The first records of the Astropectinidae come from Jurassic deposits. The only Mesozoic records of this family come from Europe and North America. This specimen represents, therefore, the first evidence of the existence of this group of starfish in the Cretaceous of South America.Sesiones libresFacultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse

Moral duty and equalisation concerns motivate children’s third-party punishment

    Get PDF
Although children enact third-party punishment, at least in response to harm and fairness violations, much remains unknown about this behaviour. We investigated the tendency to make the punishment fit the crime in terms of moral domain; developmental patterns across moral domains; the effects of audience and descriptive norm violations; and enjoyment of inflicting punishment. We tested 5- to 11-year-olds in the UK (N = 152 across two experiments, 55 girls and 97 boys, predominantly white and middle-class). Children acted as referees in a computer game featuring teams of players: as these players violated fairness or loyalty norms, children were offered the opportunity to punish them. We measured the type (fining or banning) and severity of punishment children chose and their enjoyment in doing so. Children only partially made the punishment fit the crime: they showed no systematic punishment choice preference for disloyal players, but tended to fine rather than ban players allocating resources unfairly – a result best explained by equalisation concerns. Children’s punishment severity was not affected by audience presence or perpetrators’ descriptive norm violations, but was negatively predicted by age (unless punishment could be used as an equalisation tool). Most children did not enjoy punishing, and those who believed they allocated real punishment reported no enjoyment more often than children who believed they pretended to punish. Contrary to predictions, retribution was not a plausible motive for the observed punishment behaviour. Children are likely to have punished for deterrence reasons or because they felt they ought to

As tendências educacionais politizadoras do processo inclusivo: acertos e desacertos

    Get PDF
