PARASITIC INFESTATION AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE OF SKELETAL ANOMALIES IN AMPHIBIANS
The possibility of parasite's infestation influence on amphibian skeletal morphology, were evaluated using of infestation parameters. Parasitic cyst's localisation and infestation parameters were analized in the Urals and South-Eastern Trans-Urals regions in populations of 4 Anura species. The largest variability in cysts localization were mentioned in P. ridibundus. In R. arvalis populations an increase of infestations parameters were found along with urbanization gradient. The most frequent variants of cyst localization in the specimens from forest-park and low story building area are along the spine and in the cavity of the body. Due this the biggestt frequency of deviations in skeleton morphology were found in populations from these areas.
Improvement of transportation process management effectiveness: Assessment and analysis of network topologies
The article focuses on such a concept as “network topology”, which plays an important role in increasing the efficiency of managing the transportation process on the railway. The authors carry out detailed analysis of such network topologies as star, ring, bus, tree and others, and also explore their potential for improvement of the efficiency of railway transportation management. The work examines the advantages and disadvantages of each topology, and also evaluates their capabilities for optimizing the transportation process. Evaluation and comparative analysis of varieties of different network topologies is a relevant and interesting area of research. The results of the study confirm that the choice of a specific network topology can significantly affect the efficiency of transportation process management. Some network topologies can significantly reduce shipping costs and improve the overall delivery record, while other topologies can have the opposite effect
The parasite fauna of lake frogs in the Ural region has been studied. 14 species of parasites belonging to Trematoda, Nematoda and Protozoa were found in the lake frog Pelophylax ridibundus in the South and Middle Ural. The parasitocenosis is characterized by a simplified structure while the number of infected animals increases with age. It was determined that the parasite species quantity in all age groups of P. ridibundus in the South Ural was higher than in the Middle Ural.
Narcissism and the Strategic Pursuit of Short-Term Mating: Universal Links across 11 World Regions of the International Sexuality Description Project-2
Previous studies have documented links between sub-clinical narcissism and the active pursuit of short-term mating strategies (e.g., unrestricted sociosexuality, marital infidelity, mate poaching). Nearly all of these investigations have relied solely on samples from Western cultures. In the current study, responses from a cross-cultural survey of 30,470 people across 53 nations spanning 11 world regions (North America, Central/South America, Northern Europe, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Middle East, Africa, Oceania, Southeast Asia, and East Asia) were used to evaluate whether narcissism (as measured by the Narcissistic Personality Inventory; NPI) was universally associated with short-term mating. Results revealed narcissism scores (including two broad factors and seven traditional facets as measured by the NPI) were functionally equivalent across cultures, reliably associating with key sexual outcomes (e.g., more active pursuit of short-term mating, intimate partner violence, and sexual aggression) and sex-related personality traits (e.g., higher extraversion and openness to experience). Whereas some features of personality (e.g., subjective well-being) were universally associated with socially adaptive facets of Narcissism (e.g., self-sufficiency), most indicators of short-term mating (e.g., unrestricted sociosexuality and marital infidelity) were universally associated with the socially maladaptive facets of narcissism (e.g., exploitativeness). Discussion addresses limitations of these cross-culturally universal findings and presents suggestions for future research into revealing the precise psychological features of narcissism that facilitate the strategic pursuit of short-term mating

Body appreciation around the world: Measurement invariance of the Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age.
The Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) is a widely used measure of a core facet of the positive body image construct. However, extant research concerning measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across a large number of nations remains limited. Here, we utilised the Body Image in Nature (BINS) dataset - with data collected between 2020 and 2022 - to assess measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis indicated that full scalar invariance was upheld across all nations, languages, gender identities, and age groups, suggesting that the unidimensional BAS-2 model has widespread applicability. There were large differences across nations and languages in latent body appreciation, while differences across gender identities and age groups were negligible-to-small. Additionally, greater body appreciation was significantly associated with higher life satisfaction, being single (versus being married or in a committed relationship), and greater rurality (versus urbanicity). Across a subset of nations where nation-level data were available, greater body appreciation was also significantly associated with greater cultural distance from the United States and greater relative income inequality. These findings suggest that the BAS-2 likely captures a near-universal conceptualisation of the body appreciation construct, which should facilitate further cross-cultural research. Body appreciation around the world: Measurement invariance of the Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age
Abstract
The Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) is a widely used measure of a core facet of the positive body image construct. However, extant research concerning measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across a large number of nations remains limited. Here, we utilised the Body Image in Nature (BINS) dataset – with data collected between 2020 and 2022 – to assess measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups. These findings suggest that the BAS-2 likely captures a near-universal conceptualisation of the body appreciation construct, which should facilitate further cross-cultural research

Discussion addresses limitations of these cross-culturally universal findings and presents suggestions for future research into revealing the precise psychological features of narcissism that facilitate the strategic pursuit of short-term mating.
