    PathFinder: A Visualization eMathTeacher for Actively Learning Dijstra's algorithm

    PathFinder is a new eMathTeacher for actively learning Dijkstra's algorithm. In Sanchez-Torrubia et al. (2007) the concept of eMathTeacher was defined and the minimum as well as some additional requirements were described. The tool presented here is an enhanced paradigm of this new concept on Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) resources: an application designed following the eMathTeacher philosophy for active eLearning. The highlighting new feature provided by this application is an animated algorithm visualization panel showing, on the code, the current step the student is executing and/or where there is a user's mistake within the algorithm running. PathFinder also includes another two interesting new features: an active framework area for the algorithm data and the capability of saving/retrieving the created graph

    Self-assembly and properties of a discrete water-soluble Prussian blue analogue FeII/CoIII cube: confinement of a water molecule in aqueous solution

    Novel types of water-soluble anionic cubic cages, K4[{CoIII(Me3-Tacn)}4{FeII(CN)6}4] and Na4[{CoIII(Me3-Tacn)}4{FeII(CN)6}4] (Me3-Tacn = 1,4,7-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane), were prepared by means of a mechanistically designed self-assembly process between [Co(Me3-Tacn)Cl3] and A4[FeII(CN)6] (M = Na or K), consisting of a rate-limiting outer-sphere redox step, followed by a fast substitution/inner-sphere redox reaction sequence. These compounds show remarkable stability in aqueous solution at different pH ranges, displaying neat protonation processes and reversible oxidation with peroxodisulfate to its neutral {FeIII4CoIII4} form. Furthermore, the cages behave as a robust and water-soluble molecular Prussian Blue analogue capable of encapsulating {Na-OH2}+ pairs and K+ cations in aqueous solution, with the cubic structure of the complex being preserved. Substitution of the {Na-OH2}+ pairs by K+ is easily accomplished, and the electrochemical properties of the sodium and potassium salts of the new cages have been found to be dramatically dependent on the encapsulated units

    A high-performance IoT solution to reduce frost damages in stone fruits

    [EN] Agriculture is one of the key sectors where technology is opening new opportunities to break up the market. The Internet of Things (IoT) could reduce the production costs and increase the product quality by providing intelligence services via IoT analytics. However, the hard weather conditions and the lack of connectivity in this field limit the successful deployment of such services as they require both, ie, fully connected infrastructures and highly computational resources. Edge computing has emerged as a solution to bring computing power in close proximity to the sensors, providing energy savings, highly responsive web services, and the ability to mask transient cloud outages. In this paper, we propose an IoT monitoring system to activate anti-frost techniques to avoid crop loss, by defining two intelligent services to detect outliers caused by the sensor errors. The former is a nearest neighbor technique and the latter is the k-means algorithm, which provides better quality results but it increases the computational cost. Cloud versus edge computing approaches are analyzed by targeting two different low-power GPUs.     Teaching Materials for Active Methodologies in University Education

    In the present university educational model, teaching is less teacher-centered (instruction) and more student-centered (learning). In this context, it is essential to have adequate teaching materials to support the student, both in the learning process and in the evaluation stage of the subjects. Thus, the formative evaluation (it allows knowing the progress of the students, offering proposals for additional learning) becomes more important than merely summative evaluation (with the sole purpose of obtaining a grade). This article presents a teaching-learning proposal based on the experience accumulated by the authors over several years, in which different teaching innovations have been applied. These innovations were intended to facilitate learning, improve results, increase motivation, foster collaborative work and student involvement, among other objectives. It has been found that active methodologies improve learning results through student motivation and involvement. For their part, teaching materials play a fundamental role in guiding and orienting the students’ autonomous learning process and, at the same time, facilitating collaborative and participatory dynamics in the classroom

    Fish oil substitution by soybean oil in Diplodus puntazzo: Performance fatty acid profile and liver histology

    [EN] The present study was performed to determine the effect of soybean oil on the performance and liver histology in sharpsnout sea bream. Four experimental diets were formulated containing 0%, 25%, 50% and 75% of soybean oil substituting of fish oil. Fish weighing 35 g were fed for 84 days. Increasing the level of soybean oil had no significant effects on growth and feed efficiency parameters. Biometrics, body composition, protein- and energy- efficiency were not affected by the fish oil replacement. Muscle and liver fatty acids reflected fish oil substitution.     Acute Effects of Muscular Fatigue on Vertical Jump Performance in Acrobatic Gymnasts, Evaluated by Instrumented Insoles: A Pilot Study

    The study of fatigue during training is becoming a very useful tool to avoid possible injuries not only during the training sessions but also during recovery time. Many researches have proved that concepts such as muscular fatigue and postactivation potentiation have a close relationship. With this aim, vertical jump can provide a very important information that can help to analyze the muscular fatigue that happened during this type of activity, mainly if the monitoring system is able to measure jumping parameters during their regular training session in their natural training environment. This study was performed with instrumented insoles called ECnsole. These insoles were tested with a group of twelve volunteers. In a tumbling surface, the participants performed a jumping protocol in three conditions: rest, fatigue-induced, and recovery. Using these validated insoles, the acrobatic gymnasts showed an inability to use the stretch-shortening cycle for improving vertical jumping performance after fatigue condition, although no deterioration of jump performance was found.Junta de Andalucía European Commission P10-TIC5997European Commissio

    Anthropometric Values in Spanish Elite Soccer: Differences between Divisions and Playing Positions

    Body composition is an important factor in a soccer player’s performance, and anthropometry is one of the most widely used methods of measurement. The physical demands of Spanish soccer have evolved over time, so the ideal body composition requirements must be adapted to the present day. The aim of this study was to describe the anthropometric and body composition profiles of professional soccer players in the second, second B, and third divisions during the 2019–2020 season in order to compare the anthropometric parameters of players among positions and competitive divisions. A cross-sectional study was conducted to determine differences in kinanthropometric and derived variables in a sample of Spanish soccer players. A total of 615 soccer players from the second (116 players), second B (310 players), and third (189 players) divisions participated in this study. After comparing the groups according to the playing position and category, it was observed that at higher levels of play, soccer players show lower values of fat mass (FM) and higher values of muscle mass (MM) and bone mass (BM); at lower levels of play, soccer players show more anthropometric differences between playing positions. Lastly, the somatotype of the elite soccer player is balanced mesomorphic, with higher levels of mesomorphy at higher levels of play.     Producción CientíficaUpgraded metallurgical-grade silicon solar cells with different ranges of efficiencies have been characterized by light-beam-induced current (LBIC) measurements. The interaction between grain boundaries and metallic impurities is studied for cells fabricated on wafers from different solidification heights of the ingot. A tight relation is observed between the electrical activity of the grain boundaries and the position of the wafer in the ingot, which is related to the impurity contamination. The presence of a large amount of metallic impurities enhances the electrical activity of the grain boundaries.
