This work analyses young people's discourses characterized by problematic educational tracks, and who have been part of "second opportunity itineraries". Based on interviews to the young, we try to understand the arguments they use to make sense of their own academic itineraries and the key decisions they have taken in this process. Their arguments highly relate with the actor's social position, and are influenced by agents such as the family and the educational institution. Within this framework, youngsters construct expectations for the future. These expectations follow three different paths: low-qualified and precarious work arenas, which remain functional in the productive system's context; protected settings with high dependency levels; and marginal paths which takes them to proximity networks with high vulnerability. These tracks show the tension between social reproduction and resistance

Numerical simulations of thixotropic semi-solid aluminium alloys in open-rotor and rotor-stator mixers

This research uses the Bautista-Manero-Puig (BMP) model to examine flow patterns of semi-solid aluminium alloys (Al) in open-rotor and stator-rotor mixers via numerical solutions. The model captures the distinct thixo-viscoelastic behavior of the Al-alloys at low temperatures, near melting point. The analysis involves using 2D structured-meshes for open-rotor and rotor-stator geometries. Solutions for Newtonian and thixo-viscoelastic model fluids are reported through fields of velocity, strain-rate, stress, fluidity, and streamlines, revealing distinct features. Findings reveal nonlinear thixo-viscoelastic vortex patterns that vary with rotational speed, resulting in different fluidity and stress profiles compared to the invariant response of Newtonian fluids. At lower rotational speeds, rotor-pallets are dominated by structured material that gradually becomes unstructured to cover the outer vessel walls. When including a stator, the inner stator region resembles the Newtonian solution, but the outflow through stator gaps is reduced due to flow-structure levels outside. This information is of interest for industrial design and optimization of molten Al-alloy processing.Programa de Transferencia de Tecnología de la DFB FEDER Consejo Nacional de Ciencias, Humanidades y Tecnologı́as (CONAHCYT, Mexico) Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México UNA

El Poblament de petits mamífers "(Insectivora i Rodentia)" a Catalunya. Requeriments ambientals i distribució geogràfica

The present paper sets out to analyse the environmental requirements of the small mammals species (insectivores and rodents) of Catalonia and the consequences of these requirements on their distribution throughout the studied territory. Basing on the particular needs of the different species, it is possible to define the following groups: the first, of Mid-European requirements, includes Sorex coronatus, Marmots marmota and Arvicola terrestris, which live in the western Pyrenees; Microtus pyrenaicus, M. nivalis and M. arvalis, found throughout the Pyrenees; and Sorex minutus, S. araneus, Neomys fodiens, Clethrionomys glareolus and M. agrestis, uniformly distributed in the Pyrenees, part of the pre-Pyrenees and in the humid eastern area. Another group is made up of species with Mediterranean requirements: Erinaceus algirus, Neomys anomalus, Suncus etruscus, Crocidura russula, Mus spretus and Microtus duodecimcostatus. Of these, the last four can be considered indicators of strictly Mediterranean conditions. They live in the Mediterranean coastal band, the Central Depression and the western area. There is another group which does not have very strict general environmental requirements, although its presence may be due to particular specific conditions. It comprises: Erinaceus europaeus, Talpa europaea, Sciurus vulgaris, Eliomys quercinus, Glis glis, Apodemus sylvaticus and Arvicola sapidus. Finally, one finds those species whose distribution is determined by man's presence: Rattus rattus, R. norvegicus and Mus musculus. In general, small mammal distribution in Catalonia is related to the physiography, climatic conditions and the dominant type of vegetation
